I ordered the one from Amazon about 2 weeks ago and was still waiting so I've just cancelled that order.

I just bought this one from the AO website. If you make an account with them you get a tenner off. And if you go through quidco you get approx another tenner off. So I will be receiving this computer before 12pm on Friday and it cost approx £630. That's 20 cheaper than if I carried on waiting for the Amazon identical computer. I'm very happy!

Good to see stock available for this. Hopefully soon we have in-depth reviews
Same price on Amazon (currently out of stock, but you can reserve it) with an option of 5 monthly payments of 130
Will a less powerful CPU (vs 4800) and graphics card mean it'll run cooler and have less issues than the more expensive/powerful versions?

Not really as the range are all 15W, so the higher end chips are likely to be better silicon that performs better for the same heat/power use.

Only the U series are 15W, the 4600H and 4800H are both 45W.
The screen looks a weak point, only 250 nits and 45% NTSC.

Missed that, same applies across each TDP band though.

I think the general census is to get the most powerful you can afford and then undervolt the cpu and gpu to get good temps, my laptop runs really hot and that's what I plan to do.

BIOS on these have OC options?
Looks good
I've looked around a bit but can't seem to find a vid for this exact model, does anyone know how hard it would be to install a 2.5" hdd in this?

Will that invalidate the warranty? Also easy to do?
Lenovo Legion 5 is £809 (with discount), so for extra £160 you get:
1. Better screen, 300nits, 144Hz, 100%sRgb
2. Faster CPU: 4800H
3. More ram: 2 x 8GB
4. More storage: 512GB
5. Bigger battery: 4cell, 80 Wh Li-ion
6. Slightly better gpu: GTX 1650ti

I went for the Lenovo but many may disagree.

Where are you getting those screen details? I am planning on getting this but don't want a rubbish screen.

That's all I can see and thought that would be good?

Not sure there's much headroom or a tool to undervolt Renoir yet. Their boost system appears more refined than Intels so I'm not sure there's a great deal extra to be head with an undervolt. Won't stop me trying when a tool becomes available though.

It got cold though, you need to use student account + newsletter sigh up code to bring down the price. Same like the Lenovo iDeapad 14/15 deal.

Is this laptop loud?
neilljj17/06/2020 16:45

Depends how high you turn up the volume

I see it's the case with every gaming laptop, my gf purchased Lenovo Y540 which is great , but I still cannot use to the fan sound... I prefer PC instead :P
Bargain this now it is in stock

Bit the bullet and ordered. Thanks

Heat OP

Wicked, been waiting for this to come in stock either AO or Amazon

Will ramping this up to 16gb or 32gb make much of a difference does anyone know??, been looking for specific info but little about at the minute.... purely need a new laptop for photo editing/ drone photo/video editing, didn't want to go much more than £650, but would like it to last another 7/8yrs like my Acer has! (Which is ready for the scrap yard poor thing).

Thanks
What can be easily upgraded on this laptop?

personally would have stayed with Amazon. cant beat their no quibble 1 year refund window!
i bought a Asus Rog Hero 3 from them over xmas, ended up paying about £900 off Amazon Warehouse - cant find anything cheaper new to match the specs of it.

I would take an educated guess based on most systems these days that the ram and m.2 will be upgradeable
Anyone get theirs today? Thoughts?

Looking at the couple of vids on YouTube, dual channel, both upgradeable, hard drive also upgradeable, plus, if there is a empty gap to the bottom left of the picture another hd??

The picture shown is hp pavillion 15, but running i7 9750, with 256GB ssd and 1tb hd.
