I came across this deal on Currys last night .
It looks like a well specced laptop for the price ,the only drawback would be the 4GB of Ram but an extra 4GB can be added cheaply enough.
It has a quad core Ryzen 3300u processor which gets 6143 on CPU Benchmark so its decent .
A 256GB SSD is installed .
The screen is a touchscreen Full HD IPS one so it should be nice.
I'm not sure if its a full plastic build or partly aluminium ,it says" A smooth metal finish gives this laptop a sharp, polished look"
Battery life is up to 9.5 hours and it has a fast charge,50% in 45 minutes.
It looks like excellent value .

HP...Heat. Had our HP laptop about 5 years now and its still going strong. Had no problems whatsoever with it. Its also upgrade to the latest Windows 10 version without a problem.

I popped into Currys to take a look at this last week as I couldn't find anything with the same specs. Looked a bit plasticy but the price couldn't be bettered

Ips screen good. But think the brightness is quite low from another hp I saw. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Yep would have to agree, also the speaker looks naff and very 80's.I've commented on another post about this as im after a new laptop, and having a Pavilion DV6 at the moment solid built machine with a nice aluminium case the new ones dont come anywhere close to the quality of mine.
Encountered so many issues with HP hardware and software. Still can't recommend.

Should be Ryzen 5 at this price.

Where are the clearance Ryzen 3xxx laptop deals, now that 4xxx mobile has been announced?
A touchscreen IPS laptop for £349 is amazing.

HEAT!! Good post, Fano.

Bought one yesterday. Very nice so far. Screen is excellent. Paid only 299 with a £50 trade in of a 13 year old netbook I found in a cupboard gathering dust.
How does this rank up against an i5?

It only slightly outperforms a 10th gen i3, so I expect it would be a bit behind an i5.

For less money than this deal you could get a refurbished dell... Just got to keep an eye on stock levels as they sell quickly. I got 8gb ram, i5 and 256ssd for £225

I put an extra 8gb ram in for £23 so a decent spec for <250 quid

Looks brand new as well.

You can always find something cheaper, but this is still a good deal. For me, I prefer the look of this to an austere looking Dell.
Cracking deal for a touchscreen IPS machine. Nice slim bezels too. I'm sure it is a bit plasticky at this price but that has pros in it being lightweight.

It is a bit plasticy, but it does seem pretty robust. Not much wobble on the screen when you move the laptop around and it feels surprising light. It should last a couple of years of light use. The number pad is a big plus (for me at least)

Are you thinking of upgrading to 8GB RAM.
This Ryzen 3300u APU is capable of more performance. 4GB RAM is limiting its true potential.

Fully working if you pay for the laptop in full or they give you £100 for any laptop I believe whatever the condition and it doesnt even need to work, but you have to take out on credit. The credit is 6 months in interest free or monthly payments. I used the 6 months interest free and paid off my laptop the next day.

No, the guy that served me said they had started a new trade in offer and they didn't even check the laptop to make sure it was working. Also, the didn't want the power supply. £50 was the lowest they would give you (going by eBay mine was worth about 20)

No point. 4gb is plenty for the things this laptop is capable of. If you're that worried about a little extra performance this probably isn't the laptop for you.

Yh didnt know that I knew it was £50 if you buy it outright but I didnt know it didnt need to be working.
Can you up the ram on these ?
Or should I get a refurbed elite book on eBay ?

That does seem to be a no brainer deal with the credit.Heat added

Must be something seriously wrong with your laptop if it's that bad.
I fancy it. Just concerned that 4gig ram isn’t enough. I can’t find anything on be able to upgrade it either.

Pretty sure it's got two ram slots...
How does the CPU compare with the i5 8250U?
Do we recon it’s any good?

I didn't realise this newer Ryzen 3300u is actually Quad core with Vega 6 graphics.
With 8GB RAM installed, the performance for light gaming will be better than the intel HD 620.
Intel 8250u performance still beat this on benchmark though.
The 3300u with a passmark of 6143 is very respectable too.

For light users 4GB RAM is probably enough. It would unlock the true potential of this APU with 8GB RAM in dual channel configuration. Just add another 4GB stick.
Looks like it’s sold out for me.
Doesn’t appear that way sadly.
can you use a mouse to navigate the screen instead of using the touchscreen part? thinking of all those dirty fingers clouding the great ips pannel
no stock anywhere near liverpool. need to go as far as sheffield to find one in stock to collect. wonder if they'll be available again near me at this price, looks like it's a limited time offer so proberbly not
Seems like a very good buy, voted hot. Just to stop the wild goose chases, stock is available in the following store :

Scarborough
Colliers Wood

Thais was confirmed by their 'live chat' who checked stock availability, so hope this helps somebody.
Potentially interested in this as a general use laptop, will be used for browsing, photo editing, unpacking and packing rar/zip files, some light emulation, watching videos, viewing photos, word processing, PowerPoint etc etc, just a decent general all rounder

im tossing up between this and the 14” i5 version here:

currys.co.uk/gbu…tml

I’ve got an old laptop I’m going to trade in against it (£50)

does this model have a standard sata bay inside alongside the m2? Happy to have the OS on the m2 and then install something bigger SSD wise - I would also install an additional 4gb stick in this system

is it also aluminium? Or is it cheap plastic? Would the performance difference be dramatic between this and the i5 above? Happy to spend up to about £500-600 depending on the laptop but don’t want to overbuy for my needs but also want to semi future proof

any suggestions welcome

I was also looking at a Dell Optiplex Micro PC, I appreciate it’s a completely different type of product but was going to connect it up to my tv, spec was a 4th gen i7, 16gb ram, integrated graphics, m2 SSD, that was £250
Deals ended now. It’s at 449.
