No dedicated graphics and a U processor... I wouldn't.

Toms Hardware says newest games OK on lowest settings (Intel 520 integrated graphics). My kids get better frame rate on a 5th gen i5 than a GTX 480 for some games
good deal when compared to other retailers.
This is ticking most of my boxes.... does anyone know what the build quality of the Pavilion's is like? Don't have much experience with HP laptops.

Less RAM and lower screen res - worth the extra for the screen upgrade on it's own in my opinion.

Obviously the finish is also subject to taste (personally I love it).

EDIT: Also missing backlit keys

I want it because it has star wars on it. I can't help myself.
1920 x 1080, nice. just need to slap in a ssd!

HP is good quality build although their customer service is awfull. Damage 1 while fix another. Used HP in the past but now enjoying Dell. invest little money on delivery from US and enjoy FAR better quality.
worldwide warranty is also prooved to be brill.

Laptops direct want nearly £420 for a refurb one of these.

Don't forget Costco Warranty on computers is 2 years with free tech support even if you are not a member

I'm not normally an advocate for Costco but this beats the internet 'box shifters' hands down.

And blu ray player.

This is an amazing price for the specs.
To those asking about HP build quality, my old DV6799ea laptop is still alive despite numerous bashes, few drops, being flung about on a fast Virgin train - broken hinges but worked well, finally, was sat on by an older relative and the screen died but plugged into my TV via the HDMI cable and voilà, undead laptop!
I decided to try dell for kicks but have no qualms getting an HP.

Normally id agree. But ive had my HP Envy for 2 years with a 1tb sshd in and that thing flies just like my laptop with an ssd in.

Depends on use ofc, but for work and browsing it flies.

That been said this comes with a standard 5400rpm which wont perform nearly as well.

I'm tempted and i don't even need a new laptop. I will give myself until 10pm to decide.

Not sure it actually has a Bluray player? Says DVD multi burner in the description.

Would it easy to put in an ssd on this? And would I be able to keep the 1tb drive in there as well?

There is a Star Wars version of this laptop with Nvidia Geforce 940M graphics, which is more powerful than the Intel 520 graphics, however neither are what you'd call gaming spec GPUs.

HP 250 is budget model. I have seen it in person.

Also No backlit keyboard. No FHD, less RAM.

OP's deal is way better than HP 250.

If do not mind non-FHD, go for Probook would be better than HP 250.

Dvd Burner but reads and plays Blu-Ray.

CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Drive: SuperMulti DVD burner

As for the SSD, it isn't a quick 'open backplate' on the back like some laptops and would mean dismantling the laptop almost entirely to replace the hdd, a bit of a headache and would void the warranty. I am not willing to dismantle a new laptop as simple as the task may be there is always risk of pulling a ribbon. I would 'assume' by design you cannot have more than one hdd in at once but if you were willing to remove the disc drive entirely you could always add a hdd bay there in replace giving you two.

Lack of SSD and voiding the warranty to put one in is the reason I can't pull the trigger on this as tempting as it is at such a good price. Not worth the hassle. I would buy a laptop with one already in it or with easy one screw access to the bay on the back that won't affect the warranty.

To note, these laptops are known to have bad trackpads and the keyboards are good but not great although an additional mouse would solve the trackpad issue. Backlight is a really nice feature but sadly red letters on this edition will make reading keys very strenuous. All in all at the price point it is an amazing deal but without an SSD will always feel sluggish. Choice is yours.

I have a hp envy 13 with the same specs apart from 8gb ram and an ssd, and games like csgo for example on low at 1920x720 at a solid 60 fps. Rocket league can also run for me at low settings.
