I really wish you hadn't posted this. I'm wanting to buy this very deal, but was hoping to wait until next week.!

I'm going to have to vote this COLD on the basis that i don't want them to run out of stock!

No metnion of what graphics this has. Bit annoying. How can you buy a machine at this price range without knowing if it has discrete graphics and if so what card it has?

Beat me to it nad

I've ordered mine now just in case they run out

Is this a really good deal?

Let me tell you i cancelled am order from hp direct for this laptop which i had for 582 with discount and 8% topcashback because of this deal. This deal is outstanding

I'm tempted to order, how does this compare to the Dell XPS 15 going for £649? Is the graphics card mentioned above good?

What is their quidco experience? are they reliable? as the price based on quidco makes this an excellent deal IMO. I am tempted to order one ahead of the dell xps15 which although is 649, works out to be 679 with delivery I think

very poor amazon reviews. the build quality on HP are awful.

yep of those three reviews, one complains that its not a vibrant red, but more a rusty red. Another complains about not being able to set up his wifi properly, and the other complains about an earlier version of the laptop not being able to record sound from the internet. Very detailed reviews.

Sure, awful compared to apple at 3 times the price. HPs I've had my hands on are not outstanding nor bad at all. I seem to remember a certain model having an excellent keyboard.
A good percentage of the poorest amazon reviews tend to be written by idiots or suspiciously by competitors.

Can only find they 3 reviews for this model, although other DV6 models in the same range get good reviews...
If you have a netbook, or oldish laptop kicking about, and the Quid./TCB is guaranteed, and the trade-in, I think it's worth £326.61. Quite tempted, but I'm waiting until after Crimbo see if anything better crops up

Frankly, i'd ignore the three Amazon uk reviews. Too small a sample, not representative of numerous other hp user reviews and with the best will in the world, the reviewers dont demonstrate much computer savvy. HP's are not up there with the for best build quality and reliability but they are perfectly fit for purpose. Great spec for the money. Never seen a laptop at this price level that ticks so many boxes. I find it staggering how much performance can be had for so little money these days. Have some heat.

Personally i think around £500 is about right for this, not bad but not great. Take the chance on quidco if you want but be prepared if it doesn't track.

True that, but if all goes to plan and you do get the cashback AND have an old netbook/laptop to trade in, you could be looking at around £325, pretty impressive

Hey, don't get me wrong. I've actually bought this laptop. It's an amazing deal with the trade-in offer, which I will be taking advantage of.
However, I hunted the internet for anything other than the 3 bad Amazon reviews and drew a blank. If anyone can find any good reviews I'd love to see the links.

PS I also own an HP laptop (20.1" HP HDX "Dragon") and the build quality on mine is excellent

Yes you're right, i couldn't find any reviews for this precise model either. What i meant to get across, is that there are numerous positive reviews for variants of the same dv6 model line across the net e.g amazon.com. As the cpu in this particular machine is the highly regarded core i5, it is reasonable to conclude that this model should be similar in terms of build quality and usability.

That is not a fair precis of the reviews - the 'colour one' went on to describe poor build quality and the 'wifi one' reported rubbish customer care to help fix - two damning reviews when you look at them properly.

I wonder if they've pulled the £150 trade in? I can't find it anywhere on the page.

Looked the the Bestbuy trade-in section and my Asus X58L was valued at £50 which isn't worth trading it for that.

Is this not a better deal??

My £84.21 cashback from Topcashback tracked within 4 hours of placing order.

So this laptop has cost me £475.78

I think on built quality and standards you can rely upon equivalent machine reviews. HP have a reputation therefore I expect their QA procedures ensure some decent standards. As for the design of the machine it lookssimilar to the standard bronze designs that HP are pumping out of the door at present, so pretty nice to look at.

On the specs, I don't know what the GFX card is like but that would be a concern only if you need to run games.

Someone quried the Dell XPS 15 by coomparison.

I received mine just 2 weeks ago. I went for the cheaper i3 with 3GB of RAM which I then upgraded the processor on to i5 460m and added the extended life 9cell battery which brought me back up to ~£650. The reason being that it worked out the best way to keep a decent spec and get the longer battery life. Essentially I traded 1GB of RAM for the battery. Given that the Nvidia GFX card has 1GB dedicated RAM I am not sacrificing memory into the graphics card and therefore maintain a decent level of performance witht the 3GB installed.

I am not a gamer but I will be installing some drawing apps on here later. As a test I put a ripped copy of Fall out New Vegas on here. Runs at high settings with many of the bells and whistles settings on as well (anisotropic filtering antialiasing etc). On Windows performance and multi tasking, I've had a lot of crap open with disc burning and spreadsheets and word docs etc etc (doing an engineering course) and its totally responsive and quick at everything I throw at it.

For movie watching its superb with 2.1 JBL speakers. Sounds better than any laptop I've used before by a clear mile.

Oh and with light use the machine will last the day on the 9 cells (occasional browsing, letting it sleep periodically). It gives about 5 hrs moderate use (lots of web, word, excel). I haven't done any hardcore geeking on it but I expect a good 2.5 - 3 hrs if blasting Varmints in the desert.

On the Bestbuy Website, the enter button on the laptop is US style meaning it's much smaller. Is that how it actually looks or is it UK style and so the picture is just a stock pic? I hate the US enter button it's just too small...

A reason - besides the rip off £5 fee and generally lower cashback - that i abandoned Quidco long ago

Dammit! I just get out of the overdraft and I buy this! Thanks HUKD!

Bit worried about the "build quality" so gonna pay the extra and go for the Dell Xps 15 for 649. By the time i take off the 5% voucher and if Quidco tracks at 5% I think it takes it down to £580ish...
