£150 trade in cashback available as well from HP.

only applies to certain HP laptops....cant trade in any old laptop

Not sure what the overall reputation of HP is, but my experience is that of a laptop which needed to be returned twice (their support was terrible) and within a year the entire thing had fell to pieces (and i look after my electronics pretty well). Dont think i'd ever touch their products after that.

I used to have an HP laptop (Pentium-M based) which did last 5 years...

.

Unfortunately bad support can happen with any brand nowadays...

Urm yes you can! Does not only apply to HP laptops. Laptop needs to be under 5 years old and working.

I haven't seen anything better recently for the price.
Am going to buy this tonight, unless somebody has seen a better deal for roughly the same price?
I've seen bad-ish reviews for the Dell M501R recently posted so not too keen on that one. (edit: the Dell one's expired anyway)

2 Similar laptops from same site - I think the ASUS is better than this. On passmark benchmarks both the CPU and graphics card rated higher, and the lenovo is the cheaper option. Enjoy!

Cheers for the info- I'm going to go for the HP one though. The ASUS one is tempting with a better processor but I think the HP is newer (Windows 7, faster memory, LED backlit etc).
Can't really go wrong for the price either way!

£279.97 after Cashback!!! Very very very tempting.

I currently have an older version of this and it has been brilliant. The one thing I will say is mine suffers from overheating. It may have been addressed in the newer models. I uses a cooling base and have no problems anymore.

x2 - I have a HP DV5 Pavilion and it's been great for nearly 3 years now - and it was a recon unit when I bought it.

My last HP was one of those made with a fault so it failed on me twice before I sold it.

Look like a good deal, although I think I may get something a bit higher spec.

The speaker system on HP Laptops are awesome. Also, dealt with HP CS before, when a laptop that i bought off someone had developed problems with some keys. They picked the laptop off me, and delivered it back within 4 days and they replaced the whole keypad and also done additional tests to see if anything else was wrong with the laptop (hardware wise) and also updated my bios.

It was a DV7 incase anyones wondering

Gonna get 1 for myself, thanks

I am very, very, very tempted by this but I know nothing about the AMD Phenom™ II Triple-Core (P820, 1.8 GHz, 1.5MB 2 cache).

What is the equivalent Intel processor?

I have an HP laptop with a battery that dies after about 5 minutes and a small crack on the lid by the hinge....think that classes as a 'working' battery?! Also, I guess the crack is not going to pass the 'undamaged' criteria is it?

Ah, I've not got as far as reading any further other than how much they give. Mine has a few broken bits, nothing that stops it from working mind you, oh well. I'll stick with what I have.

Saying that.....general wear and tear is accepted. Depends what they class as wear and tear though.

Mate owns a HP Pavillon D7

hes had that a few years now & only 2 problems:

1. The charger just died about 3 months ag (he uses it like a pc so its always on)

2. the heatsink vents getting clogged up, no biggy just a cleanup/reseat cpu jobby

BE WARNED!! These are a absolute nightmare to take apart, everything is compact & tightly together

But a good laptop tbh & not a bad price

It's sandwiched right between the T6600 and the T5900 in the benchmark test.......

I bought this before Christmas for £400 (there was a 10% off voucher available at the time). First personal laptop I have ever had (have a work one which is also HP) and I don't regret getting it at all, the price is immense for the spec and the laptop itself looks smart. Decent little camera for skype and has software to make all the wierd faces that you can make on the Mac's + they have pretty much copied every little design feature of the new Mac Laptops that cost ££££'s more. Amazing screen and really useful media hotkeys at the top to switch track etc, we'll worth the money.

My first AMD processor and can't really complain as of yet, seems to load up everything in couple of seconds at the most and in terms of games, the best I have tried on it so far is StarCraft 2 and it handles that on medium relatively well... not going to blow you away but will go online also.

Worth the money for anyone whos considering it

How does this compare to this deal- assuming the discout and cashback making it £363?
hotukdeals.com/dea…163

cheers

might trade in my old hp

There's this deal I posted a link to a few days ago, ends tomorrow (according to the email):

hotukdeals.com/dea…804

Pros: Slighter faster CPU, 6Gb RAM, Blu-ray, Sony?
Cons: Slower graphics, no esata, no tradein, Sony?

Mine arrives tomorrow to replace my faulty acer timeline 3810 tzg, cant wait

nice laptop but you are compromising on the CPU which is the most important part of the laptop in my opinion.

Not really worth me upgrading to this model then as it's not a big enough jump. Thanks for the info.

Is the AMD processor one to avoid? I'm a novice with laptops and specs so no idea but looks a good deal

Im well happy with this,AMD is as good a company as Intel.Great for the price and looks smart as well.Im cleaning up my old acer to trade at the weekend then sending it of for my cashback.Delivery was also great,I took the free option and it was still delivered next day. Thanks to the poster

No problem

I too had a good experience with this company- very fast delivery (even though I selected the free option). The laptop itself is relatively slow at the moment because of all the software HP put on it but it's easy to sort out. Might even consider installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 if it isn't too much hassle with drivers etc., though I haven't looked into that yet.
It's a great machine though, loving the fingerprint reader as well!
Cheers OP

EDIT: I did reinstall Windows 7, getting rid of all the rubbish HP install and just using fingerprint reader software etc, and it is A LOT faster, so would recommend to anyone thinking of doing the same. All the drivers you'll need are on the HP website, sorted by type which is handy.
