looks like a decent deal to me but not really an expert on computers.

I've been looking for a cheap decent laptop so have some heat.

very good specs weak link is the screen

what's better, hp or Dell?

thanks

id say both as good as each other.

hp for cheese on toast. Well for computers.

A bad joke made worse still by corrective bloomin' text. "Well" should say "Dell".

And I don't have recent experience of either so in truth... I don't know!

Just ordered the AMD version for £20 more but has a decent graphics card cheers

For similar money Dell outlet have refurbished units with similar specs.

I missed out on a dell on here last week but found one on the outlet instead...

8gb ram
1 tb HDD
i5 processor
1gb graphics
Win 8
65kwh battery
17" screen.

I got that for £330 delivered, there was a scratch and dent version for under £300

decent spec for the money but go and try them out, I went out with a HP in mind t'other week as they were better spec for the money but the keyboard was horrible and case very plasticky, came home with an Asus Vivobook instead..

some items you can buy blind off the internet, for me laptops are not one of them.

thanks. ill check Dell outlet and make a decision on which one to for

I have this exact laptop got it from new at £399.00 on offer from PC world brand new and cant fault it so to grab one for £100.00 less would be agood deal, just thinking of buying ths for my son now.

bouncy99

id say both as good as each other.

in terms of software and development I think that HP wins

There's a dented one on Dell outlet with the same specs, same price (Inspiron 15 - 3520).
(£390 for refurbished one with a 1080 screen & 7730m graphics, 15R - 7520)

Thanks OP was looking for a sub £300 laptop preferably red,, perfect ordered

I bought it last year from currys @399, it's ok but not great, the main issue of heating, you can not work to put this on your lap...its seems permanent problem with up, I sent two time back but they couldn't fixed it. speaker sound is not really good , webcam is very standard and very frustrating is there is no blue tooth..

I had one of these it's not a bad laptop.

Definately go try this in the shop. I almost bought one but hated the keyboard and trackpad! Very plasticky. Although saying that I now have an acer :P

Good specs for the price though.

No thanks HP CS isn't great as evident by how they handled the printer situation.

Anyone recommending Dell can't have much computer knowledge, anyone with any sense would stay as far as possible from Dell.

Personally I had AMD quad-core version of this HP right now and although its not bad at all, I find HP products to be rather bad quality which is strange because they always seem to look like they have a good build quailty, you have been warned!

I'd recommend Acer and only Acer but none the less, this is a cracking deal!

Refurb from currys ? Nah
I bought quite a few from them, I think 14 or 15,more than half had some kind of issues , sometimes very obvious , sometimes well hidenn, but the worst is the company itself, dealing with dsg service is just a nightmare.

Wife bought one on Friday, was going to post this after (wanted to make sure we bagged one!)

Other than a crazy tesco deal, I doubt you can get a 3rd gen i5 for £299 anywhere else. Almost went for the excellent Vostro deal until I heard how the loud the fan is.

This laptop is NOT NEW and as the refurbishment process was done probably by DSG group, not HP, I would not touch it with a barge pole. They are not properly checked ! People return laptops to store / service for a reason, the seller just hopes you won't notice the issue quick enough. !!!

Ordered....fingers crossed!

Is this the same laptop that can't output to its hdmi port? My friend bought one and it won't connect to any display via hdmi.

It will output to hdmi if he removes the graphic drivers but that kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it.

Buy with caution!

Ordered one earlier......nice spec for the money..........lets see what its like when it arrives........can always send it back!

Looks like a good deal. I bought a Currys refurb i3 G6 for my daughter last Christmas and its never missed a beat.

I've just bought a red Toshiba C855 laptop from Argos Outlet on eBay for £289 delivered (i3, 1TB drive, 8GB ram) which was the best deal I could find at the time, but they sent me the B960 version instead!

They've agreed to take it back but it's not clear whether they intend to replace or refund - if they refund I'm getting this one!

Seems like a cracking deal this. The built in graphics aren't ideal, but I believe the HD4000 is a good 30% improvement from the HD3000.

Heat added and a possible purchase after someone nabbed the Dell I was eyeing up before I could checkout from the Outlet.

Just had a text to say mine will be delivered tomorrow by DPD - will let you know more after the un-boxing!

Is it not worth paying £20 more to get 'New' instead of 'Refurbished'?
HP Pavillion G6 2210sa

Mines arrived - Lovely piece of kit for the money, but Win8? I thought people were whinging over nothing, but teaching 3 daughters and the Mrs to operate this is gonna be a nightmare ( that's after i work it out )! The docs says can't return if software installed. I have set up hotmail etc, so that does that mean I cant return I wonder? Must stress, the lappy itself is spot on, but I think Win8 may be just too much of a leap for my tribe :-(

If you can find a store with it in stock. Not available for home delivery and none anywhere near me.

Got mine today and it is great, Beats my old toshiba I3 380m with ati 5470 graphics in every respect. Looks brand new still had all the protective stickers on it. Also loving windows 8 no problem to use at all.
