How do you rate this machine? Need a laptop for everyday tasks + light gaming ( football manager ) and watching films on, I know PC Workd usually comes under a lot of criticism on here but this looks good ?
We have bought this deal - just away to collect it our uncle is head of IT for his local school he seems to rate it as does my husband - hope this helps- heat added for great deal
Thanks very much - seriously considering this or the slightly more expensive option with the AMD Processor as it has very slightly better graphics, can see this one being my choice though. Many thanks.

Its a good deal. You might want to consider this too as its also a very hot deal and cheaper for similar specs.

Thanks, looked at that one also but I would prefer the slightly larger hard drive I think, although the Acer and buying an SSD may be an option.... Difficult choice!
This is a decent deal, however over the past few weeks there have been some really good Dell deals on here. Reliability wise Dell / HP are on par I would say, but pound for pound you are getting a far better spec machine for your money with Dell plus with some of the deals you get a years on site warranty. Just something to think about when looking at this deal as I have no doubt there will be more Dell deals coming in the next few weeks.
Anyone have any idea how long this deal is on for? Went into Curry's looking at this today and can't really fault it. However, can't get my head around how cheap it is in terms of the specifications in comparison to other laptops. I know the graphics card isn't the best but can't complain about the memory and processor.
Is this better value than the HP Pavilion Ultrabook™14-b006sa at £339?
Just wondering how you would rate this for playing games?
I'm looking at this and the Samsung Series 5 NP550P5C which has the same specs.
get one with a dedicated graphics card if you want to play games

this will only play them on low settings

Don't buy this laptop with any intentions of playing games on it, the intergrated intel HD 4000 graphics is terrible, you'd probably struggle to play pacman on it.

I'm also looking at either getting this or the Samsung Series 5 but can't decide which one. You any closer to making a decision?

It's not that bad.

You can play games on it at a decent frame rate. 30fps is the limit of being acceptable.

No Bluetooth ???? Why not , it's kinda crucial
What the diffents between this one and this one???

Acer has a bigger screen, HP has a bigger hard drive.
Saw this yesterday, was going to post but didn't have time
Not an Ultrabook.

persuaded my brother to buy this yesterday, good machine, just not too sure on the windows 8 just yet, personally i would strip it and put windows 7 on.

ChampionshipManager

Not an Ultrabook.

can load disks though

What for lol.
Taking a wild guess here but most likely for file transfer or data connection, not crucial but handy when you don't have cables around.
2.5 kg - ouch
Why not go here same laptop same price... but use code
UK5PIXMAS to get 5 pound off

I think this is the best 'around £400' i5 deal at the mo, although I got the dell £444 deal which was better but expired. would choose this over the 'ultra book' everyday of the week but obviously not as portable. The lid isn't metal but doesn't look too cheap and the hinges are better, a little flex from the plastic body and creak but not bad and not too heavy for a 15inch (my dell is a lot heavier and thicker). Havent drilled down and compared to acer e1 but both good prices for i5 3210m processor equipped machines

I'm in need of this spec but with high resolution screen !

Anyone seen anything??
Really can't decide on this one or not, if it had dedicated graphics i'd be all over it but can see myself wanting to upgrade it again in a years time if I purchase
Is there any good deals on similar specced laptop but with dedicated GPU? Cheers in advance.
Voted hot because its good but with the HP website deal posted on here not long ago (still active as well I think) I managed to buy a HP pavilion with better specs all round for £10 cheaper.

What model did you go for ?
I got the HP Pavilion m6-1002sa. I don't think the processor is as good (not sure what that power boost thing is about) but I got dedicated graphics card and don't have to put up with windows 8 lol
That does look tempting! Going to compare the two processors.

Let me know what you decide, I'm intrigued! I'm pretty sure the laptop I chose is better in all aspects and given that its £10 cheaper and POSSIBLY a 15% quidco I think the deal posted before is much better.
Will do mate, will post findings a bit later!
I've got a HP for work and the fan screams like a banshee... Not touched this either way, I'd just advise to check how the fan sounds before committing because it really is that bad (plus it is prone to overheating and shutting down when playing back video)

After doing a bit of research, your spot on, the GPU is superior to HD 4000 but the Intel CPU is a fair bit quicker than the AMD. I've got a PS3 for gaming so I think if they were the same price i'd go for the Intel, however, as you've mentioned it's cheaper and a poss 15% Quidco, i'm siding towards the one you've purchased.

I have had bluetooth on my previous laptop and never used it. I have opted for this HP deal as I do not play games so no requirement for a dedicated graphics card. I think it is down to personal preference as to what requirements are needed and this is a major factor in whether it makes a deal hot or not. I want i5 processor, decent amount of RAM and USB3 support. So for me this is a hot deal.
hmmm, just got one for my lad. Very good specs on paper and grat price for those specs. Had a good look around the HP site and it couldnt be beaten,
Comes with 1 stick of 2 and 1 of 4 so can up the 2 to a 4 fro about £12 i think.
Graphics supposedly better in some ways than many of the amd combos near this price bracket.
Never used 8 before, but it seems slow? maybe me.
