Good spec desktop replacement laptop.

good deal, and john lewis have brilliant customer services

Amazing price..

nice laptop.

Nice looking laptop but a bit expensive , im sure some scum bag would try and take it off you sooner or later :w00t:

:thumbsup:I need an excuse not to buy this, all i need is there! :whistling:

Not saying this is not a good deal but I paid £800 for an HP laptop in Jan 2007. I think it's a DV6174. It's been nothing but bother since I got it. Firstly the DVD drives are rubbish. Don't believe the write speeds in the spec. I have to burn at 1x just to get the drive to work. I can no longer switch it on with the power button. At first the button was just getting harder to activate now it doesn't work at all. I have to boot into Quick Play then into Windows to get it started unless I use standby. After some googling I found that this is a known fault and that I am actually lucky that my sound is still working, as the problem is with a ribbon cable that runs the power button and speaker system. I think it gets damaged when you are pressing the Power button. Anyway HP make great looking laptops however the build quality is poor and I would not recommend one to anybody.
Hope this helps someone make a choice.

Awesome deal in m y opinion. HP make lovely laptops that look and feel quite good.

Excellent deal, got one ordered:thumbsup:

this is awesome - dearer than the insiron 1525 offer, but better graphics card at least! HOT

what's the orginal battery?

I have a HP 6720s, also purchased after a HUKD deal, which is fantastic - this is another great value deal!

Great deal, with warranty too. Play and Dabs are over £699 for same item. I have had a couple of HP's before and (touch wood) they have been great!

Decent not great and only because it is branded. If you would pay more than £500 for this spec you need your head testing. Personally I'm waiting for a Mike T special... Nice to see something other tha a Dell though.

Smart laptop with a decent spec, but I think hotukdeals members can do slightly better price-wise.

Shame they stopped doing quidco!

Does anyone know if this is just online or instore as well? Thanks!

Good deal!
Just got XPS 1530m delivered (from Dell Outlet), should have waited to grab this!
Now I am confused:? Whether this is better or my XPS (for £540/-) with T8100/3GB RAM/256mb nVidia/250GB hard disk is better?

This HP is voted hot and spicy too (because of it's red colour!)

looks brown

You’ve got a much better graphics card for gaming and more RAM and the XPS models are generally good so I think you’ve done alright there.

how much does it weigh?

This is an OK deal, the graphics card is nothing great at all - GS is a cut down model - I certainly believe you'll get much better coming along soon.

Just phoned their customer service and the person said YOU HAVE TO BUY THE BATTERY SEPERATELY! ! BATTERY IS NOT INCLUDED ON THE PRICE !!SO HE SAID ALL TOGETHER IT COMES £578 !!

But I am still suspicious about that man! can anyone confirm if this is true?

anyone got the product? hurry!! please!!

I just bought this laptop yesterday for around £725!!

Shame about the battery. I was almost tempted. Still not a bad deal though as it's £699 elsewhere.

Original Poster

Just spoken to John Lewis store in Oxford Street, and was told that the battery included with the laptop is ]HP 6 Cell-ion Laptop Battery the same one as the one they are selling separately for £79 as a spare battery. Anyway, I never came across or heard of laptop being sold without battery.

This is nonsense, batteries are packaged with the laptop during production. Are you suggesting John Lewis opened every package and took out the battery, even though they then couldnt resell it because they wouldn't even be OEM packaged? The rep didn't know what he was talking about.

hot...

Even I was wondering How can they sell it without battery!! But the person said thats why its cheaper:p:p

just placed an order...and returning the sameone i bought yesterday for £ 725!!!

This laptop looks cool and i just love this !!

This is very true, but as you say a HOT! deal for a very good speck Notebook, Temptation got the better of me, and I took the plunge, Processor power and the wireless n built in did it for me.

And remember if you are still in two minds like me you can always send it back within 28 days, and not even have to pick up the shipping cost for doing so(Free Returns), for a full refund.
