Not a bad processor. Would be good if the Ram was 1 x 4GB, but it'll probably be 2x2. Graphics card is the only weak part of the system and the psu is unspecified and therefore not sure what I could upgrade the graphics card to. However, for £400 this is largely an entry-level PC and looks pretty decent for what it is. I'd vote hot on it.

Specs are pretty much same as this one from ebuyer (apart from hard drive being bigger)

ebuyer.com/pro…619

But £50 cheaper, so HOT from me 2!

I like this its a decent spec. Whats happened to dell specials Mike t used to post.Computers seem to be getting a lot more expensive recently. Voted Hot. Had a HP PC for two and a half years without any problems.

I bought very similar spec apart from a 1TB HD for £499 earlier this year, the first "died" after only 6 weeks but the replacement is fine, very happy.

Yeah, I want a good I7 deal!

heat! hopefully something like this will prop up in a few months time. looking to buy a present for my bro/prior to starting uni

so how does a AMD Athlon II X4 630 Processor compare to Intels stuff (dual cores, iQ3/5/7s etc)?
What power are we comparing it to with an Intel machine? sorry, honestly have no clue how AMDs work...

Get a laptop. You can't bring a desktop to the library to do the last minute essays.

how is his comment useless i thought it was rather usefull being in uni (which judging by your comment you clearly have not been to) the rooms are small so a laptop is more useful.

how about you heed your own advice and go crawl back into a cave, Mabye it's just constipation?, probably why your so....for lack of a better word....peed off? , you should try to take a good crap then come back , I bet you'll feel better.

Apparently the PSU is 300W:

Graphics aren't too bad, rest spec is at least a good base.

Guys, is this a good PC that is upgradeable if need be?

i.e. the motherboard can have more RAM added and the GFX card can be updated? Sorry, am looking for a decent PC in this range..... would build my own but don't know any good specs!

Original Poster

Theres no point budiling your own if you're spending around £400.

I checked for ages for componants to build my own and the machine would be pretty much the same as this, or not even any better, plus theres the hassle of putting it together. Look at Overclockers for these sort of specs and it will cost you more than £399

You aren't very smart. I was replying to a guy who said he would get it for his, university bound, brother. There are some books in the library that you cannot take home. Taking paper notes take forever and it is easier just to copy the quotes straight from the text and not write them down and then type them up when you get home. If you stay in halls in first year there is often no internet access. You have to go to public areas (such as the library) with your laptop to go online. I hope :santa: gets you a brain for christmas. I'm just sorry that you had ruin a perfectly good thread with the crap that festers in your head.

I understand that it is a good deal. I added heat because now that I am not at uni and live in more than just one room, I can buy a desktop.

erm.. his comment wasn't useless, yours was. My friend had a desktop at Uni and couldn't get internet for the whole year because the wireless only worked in the corridors. Everyone got their net sitting in the great fluffy corridors and not their rooms. Also is more social. Obviously this is quite specific to the crappy net at my halls but still. Some halls may have no net at all and require you to venture even further afield, only with a laptop. Macbooks worked much better in my halls specifically but in most places it probably wouldn't make a difference.

Some people wanna take computers to the library. Its def easier to have a laptop when you're likely moving house every year for 3 years and possibly even moving all your stuff back home and to Uni again every term. I know all my stuff wouldn't have fitted had it included a desktop and not a laptop.

Desktops are good for home where your life is less variable.

Does this include Microsoft works or is it just a 60 day trial
