Came in to say this.
Same spec Lenovo at Currys for 399£
Cheaper Acer alternative seems to be OOS.

The HP is about 300g lighter than the Acer, with 70Wh (compared to 48Wh) battery, which is appealing.

That's nowhere near the same spec. It's 2 core not 4. It's non HD screen. The HP is HD IPS screen. The hard drive is not SSD. The battery is not 14 hours. It doesn't have a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card. Chalk & cheese.
Looking for a laptop for my son. Likely the most stress placed on it will be running Fortnite at half decent settings. Think this one beats any other deal currently on for the purpose i'm looking for.

This price seems excellent for the graphics card in this. Ticks a lot of other boxes too. Full HD IPS / SSD / Decent 8GB RAM / Bang & Olafson speakers / great battery life. Only slight drawback is the CPU is a wee bit off others at this price point. Think the aforementioned positives outweigh this though.

Thinks this looks like a great option compare to other 'deals' currently on offer. Great find HOTPOT.

Did you buy it in the end, as i am also looking for one for my daughter, and this seems good but no reviews.
Yes I ordered it. Last night showed only one available and didn't want to miss out. Seems to be more available now.

I had shortlisted about 4 different laptops mentioned on hukd and looked at all their benchmark scores for graphics card and processor. Although this rates slightly worse than the others for processor it's graphics card was a lot better than the rest. This swung it for me as it's for fortnite. Also the battery life is really good.

There was only one other deal on here that was better (acer or Asus I think from box.co.uk) but the deal went as soon as it was available.

surely this is …surely this is betterhttps://ao.com/product/5ku43eaabu-hp-laptop-silver-62678-251.aspx

It depends what for. Again your link has no dedicated graphics for serious gamers. Great every day laptop though.

If by "better" you actually mean "worse".

why?

Dual core processor, no dedicated graphics and the same price.

It's only better in terms of RAM, unless I'm missing something.
it doesnt seem to be too much more expensive than 8GB RAM/i5 processors though so surely best specs at this price range

how does quad core i5 compare to dual core i7
Is this better than Acer swift deal at box for £499?

The one you linked isn’t a gaming laptop, it’s a perfectly capable laptop

Agreed. As soon as you look to add a dedicated graphics card the prices shoot up. Also around this price range it'll likely be an MX130 card of if lucky a MX150. Alternatively a Radeon Vega. This one has a GTX 1050 which is a lot better than these and offers more for those wanting to do a bit of gaming.
Just noticed you can get at AO for same price using code BFWINDOWS50

I bought the acer aspire from the £499 deal at box, the gtx1050 is at the lower end from a gaming perspective, but a good overall spec for the price
Then there is also this ....
