eye wateringly slow cpu, but good deal with office 365 included... as long you know what you are getting!

I'm not entirely sure on whether or not the price is hot, but just to confirm this is a tablet with detacheable keyboard. Spec wise it is a tablet.

Not a laptop, please amend the title as it's rather misleading

HP call it a laptop too though on their site, it's also misleading there.

Good deal for the price asked. Heat added.

Will likely order this. Been on the lookout for a cheap 10" tablet and this has a detachable keyboard as a bonus. Year of Office is handy too.

This is £279 from the HP EPP store

£154.22 with Q415HPAF87...every little helps

If you're a member of the Forces you can use code FORCES which takes it down to £151 or so.

Really surprised at the lack of heat here! This is a brand new (not refurbished) 10" tablet, which is going for around £250 at most other places. £229.99 at Amazon, £209 at Very, £270 at eBuyer, £250 at Currys. This deal blows those prices out of the water!

I'm writing this on the same tablet purchased from HP a couple of weeks ago at the same price. The cpu is powerful enough for me and it upgraded itself to Windows 10 without a hitch. Lovely clear screen and keyboard, but definitely better as a tablet rather than a lightweight laptop.

I would appreciate some HUKD user opinions on buying this or the Lenovo Miix 3...thanks!

This one has one years Office 365

I quite like the way Tablets and Laptops are merging. With all the Cloud Storage available so cheap there really is less and less need for local storage.
I have something similar made by Acer and I do like it. Its the one that comes with me if I am away from home for a bit, easily powerful enough for day to day browsing, email and Facebooking. I do wish they made these with SIM Card Slots like some tablets and that would be perfection in my opinion.

Yes, it's an interesting development, especially given how the iPad was first received when it came on to the scene. Apple really have 'created' a need, but it makes sense in today's day and age that people want smaller, more portable devices for the basic needs with the option of other devices for the more intensive stuff.

With regard to the SIM card point, I think it's not quite as important given the tethering capabilities of phones. If I'm away, I know I can take a tablet and my phone, tether to the tablet from the phone and happy days. That's if there's no Wifi available of course, which is increasingly rare.

It has to be the Lenovo Miix3 as the Lenovo has 1920 x 1200 screen where this only has 1280 x 800. Everything else looks similar but what I can tell you about the Miix is you will not be disappointed. The only thing I notice about these at this size is some of the menus are a bit small. There are quite a few menus you can make bigger but the standard windows box titles you cannot change on their own which is a shame.

I bought the miix primarily as a small laptop with tab use as secondary. For me it works well as it has dual purpose but if all you want is a tab then perhaps android or ipad are the way to go. One great thing about the miix is after putting a fresh install of windows 10 on it I find that my diagnostic software for the car works with windows 10. That's ELM, Forscan and OP-COM. Now that's a whole lot easier taking the 10" laptop to the car than my 15". It was worth the £149.95 I paid for the miix just for that. Great little 2 in 1 if you can find one.

These are not that slow considering the hardware. Web pages take a little longer to open but I had my Lenovo for a couple of months now and it's great. I think windows 8.1 gives a better tablet experience but if they can change the icons from the drab blue this will make a big difference. I put my favourite apps on the desktop and run it mainly in desktop mode and not tablet which works for me.

It's an old deal, but this is currently £125 after quidco: hotukdeals.com/dea…315

Which has a slightly better CPU.

I would agree, the Miix 3 is a very nice system mostly because of the FHD screen. The keyboard takes some getting used to, but it serves its purpose.

The other option would be a 11.6" screen - the extra inch makes more of a difference than I thought. The Acer is tempting indeed.

I don't mind the keyboard to type on or are you referring to the function key and shortcuts. I did look at the acer when I was considering the Lenovo and the extra 1.5" would be nice but I was put off by the screen resolution as it's only 1366 x 768. If it had been fhd then I would have bought it. £50.00 more but I was nearly there but went for the miix3 and delighted with it. The only problem I have with the miix is that it isn't really suited to someone older in laptop format as the title bars / folder on some of the windows are to small. hese are the heading at the top of each window and cannot be adjusted in display settings. The only way to adjust them is to reduce the screen resolution which to me is defeating the object. I did review if I would notice the difference between 1366 x 768 and 1920 x 1200 and was told I would but who knows. At 11.6" maybe, maybe not.

Will take a look for my daughter, thank you.

Just ordered one for work. Heat added.

Received mine today. The tablet itself looks and feels superb. Vey nice device indeed. Not impressed with Windows on a tablet though. Naively, I thought it would be a little modified to make it more tablet friendly and intuitive. Instead it just feels like a small computer which isn't really what I wanted. Shame really. Will look for an Android tablet now, might return this reluctantly.

You should have read my post no. 20 or perhaps some of the reviews on the miix3. Windows isn't really suited to a small screen tablet. It's still windows at the end of the day and maybe this is a mistake or a good idea perhaps, giving the user windows but with a tablet experience which is what it is and not the other way round. For people wanting a tablet they should really go for android as it is easier to customise and most people have either android or apple for their phones. I don't know anyone with a windows phone.

I wanted something to just surf the net but have use of windows if I needed for holidays, weekends away etc and was really hoping that I could customise it to be of use as a diagnostic screen for when I am working on cars. This is something you can't do with an android tab as the software I have is windows only. The laptab fits the bill perfectly with windows 10 but like I said before windows have failed to offer the user custom alteration to ALL title bars meaning the fonts on some are very very small. This is something you could get an app for with android. It's horses for courses really and I thought for £149.95 I got a good piece of kit which serves my needs.

Just something for thought. I was a little disappointed when I got my miix3 and nearly swapped it for the Lenovo Yoga. In the end I kept the miix3 and glad I did. Put windows 10 on it as a fresh install and it's a nice little laptop and tablet if I want. What I have done now is put all my favourite apps on the desktop and just use it in laptop mode which you have that option in windows 10. I found that windows 8.1 gave a better tablet experience though. Keep at it, you may just like it as I did.

Thanks for that.

I'm in the process of installing Windows 10 on it as we speak. I understand this has a 'tablet mode' which might make things a little better. I'll have to see.

Is there any way to boot Android on this tablet? Like I say, I'm very reluctant to return this because it is a very nicely built device, perfect size too.

There may be a way to dual boot the device. I see on banggood.com that they have some chinese tablets that have both windows and android on them. Those people from the far east are very clever. I am not quite sure how to do this but hey, some nights I get bored so may look into it. I wouldn't have thought it would be that difficult to do but the only issue I can see is drivers for the android system and the HP device. You can download an android emulator but I tried this on my macbook and wasn't overly impressed.

I just did a quick google of "Can I put android on my laptop" and came across this.

maypalo.com/201…op/

You can also have a look here.

forum.xda-developers.com/sit…top

XDA have some very clever people posting on there so is definitely worth a look.

If the HP still has the recovery partition on it after you have put windows 10 on it drop me a reply back on here and I will tell you how to remove it if you struggle. It will be taking up approx 5.8gb of your drive space. When I put 10 on mine it didn't give me the option to remove it so had to do it another way. I made a copy of my 8.1 recovery partition before I put 10 on it just in case there was a problem but it runs fine on 10 and doesn't have all the Lenovo crap on it now and doubt if I will go back to 8.1 even though the tablet experience was maybe a little better and the icons looked prettier. People say there are not enough apps on the windows store. Well I got bored looking !! There are more than I expected and whilst it may never take over android or apple it's good to have something that's different.

Installed Windows 10, enabled tablet mode and it's a different device now! Much more what I expected. I'll definitely be keeping it.

I thought you might like it. You now have a tablet which has 'normal' windows operating system. Check if you still have the recovery drive in place for windows 8.1. If you have it takes up a lot of useable drive space. You will find it in disk management and it will be about 5.8gb
