This or the Zenbook from John Lewis at the same price?

How does this compare to this: hotukdeals.com/dea…e=2

I am still so angry missing out on this deal. I just can't keep waiting for a decent one to come about again though who knows when something similar to that JL will come about again

Grey is 799. 95
Rose Gold is £649.95

HP has 8th Gen Processor. I would suggest compare technical spec and see which one fits your requirements.

Backlit keyboard swings it.

Thanks.
currys.co.uk/gbu…tml similar spec concerning that lot of reviews are complaining that it's slow..

would 8GB 256SSD make a hell of difference compared to 4GB and 128gb SSD? As the both have like for like processors

per my understanding 8gb Ram does make lot difference than size of SSD.

SSD will have impact on performance when there is not enough space to hold temp files. I read somewhere that win 10 should have min 128 as of that 16 is used by operating system and rest can be useful towards running program / application.
Bought this a few months back for £689 and thought that was good! Great laptop, decent screen, fast and is surprisingly good in tablet mode. Well worth the money.
Pretty good deal. I think this year will be exceptionally good for customers. With AMD finally pushing Intel to improve performance.
Even though I've ordered, is this a bit better for an extra 30 quid more? store.hp.com/UKS…NTB

Hardware wise pretty much the same but mentions something about NVIDIA® GeForce® 940MX

James, as you can see that the one you ordered have integrated graphics while in your earlier message with ref to NVIDIA has dedicated 2gb graphics.

Is it better to have dedicated graphics ? It goes with the purpose. If you going to use laptop for graphic intensive tasks ie playing games, audio video editing etc, then it will be certainly better but otherwise integrated graphics with second generation processor will be suffice for most of computing tasks.

It's not about extra money but use of new laptop you you should consider.

Give them a call tomorrow if you want to go for one with dedicated graphics.Hope that helps.

Be aware that upgrading stuff on these is not a quick or easy task so plan for the future:

I have the Spectre x360 and it's actually impossible to upgrade the RAM!

I'd go with the HP, the CPU is far superior plus it's a convertible with touch screen.
The quicker 2400mhz RAM in the HP will also improve integrated graphics performance.

Thanks for your responses guys. I've placed the order so I'll leave it as it is. The only game intend to play on it is FM2018 and the ones after it so it should be fine.

I have no intention of doing any video editing or graphic design tasks having said that, I do own a dji spark which I may use and a go Pro Hero 6, but it won't be used for professional work, just personal stuff and only for a few months when I get the time on the weekend.

wont be upgrading any hardware either I won't be used for heavy handed work, just FM2018, downloading music, youtube videos, live stream and general browsing and light editing with my go Pro and dji spark, which won't happen for any more than a few months
Just went for it, £639 on their Student Store. TCB tracked at £13.78.

Still haven't figured out if this has a backlit keyboard though. Store page has no mention of it, Pavilion x360 product page says 'Backlit keyboard on select models' however the Intel page for this model says it does have a backlit keyboard. Tried calling their sales team but they were no help at all, just reading back what I can see on the store page. Anyone that has this laptop able to confirm?

HP customer service is awful. Placed an order middle of december for laptop after showing plenty of stock a few days later they say no stock and push back delivery to end of Jan. Apparently their stock levels on the website arent updated in real time. Crap.
Mine was shipped earlier last night

Let us know if it has a backlit keyboard please, mate.
Arrived earlier today and I'm pretty disappointed.

No backlit keyboard - both HP and Intel sites incorrect.

Enormous ugly gap between touchpad and top cover. Anyone else have the same?

Haven't tested it fully but battery life looks to not be great, definitely nowhere near advertised 10 hours.

Worst of all though is the fan noise!

instaud.io/1C1W

That sort of sound at far from full load must be a defect unless anyone else is experiencing the same?

I'll test the battery life over the next few days and this is definitely being sent back if it's as bad as I suspect.

This is unacceptable from a company like HP. No wonder this model has no reviews at all anywhere except HP store.
Update: Disabling HP CoolSense has stopped the fan coming on at idle, but of course still as noisy when it does come on.

But now, three hours in - a stuck pixel. I ran JScreenFix for half an hour but it didn't fix it.

Can anyone recommend another 8th gen i5 convertible in this price range?
