After a decent laptop and found this deal.
Seems a good price for an i5, 6GB + 1TB hard drive.
Please let me know if there's a better deal out there as looking to buy asap.

Cheers and merry christmas

Why is this being voted cold? It seems better value than most of the laptops in the HP sale lol.

Not a bad deal at all...

I posted this deal earlier - http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/Shopping/Product.aspx?Type=SKU&Id=231817625&source=46387

Almost identical specs, but this has 8Gb of memory. Also you get the 2yr warranty which I personally think is worth the extra £30.

The additional warranty could cost an extra £100+...

Seems a decent laptop for the money when you look at the specs. Can't find a better laptop currently matching this price and performance wise from them so i'd go for this laptop if you are in need of one asap. Was quite tempted by this myself for a family member. With Intel HD Graphics 4000 tho it's no good for much gamers just incase you were wanting one for that but most tasks this will manage fine plus in the future you could always upgrade the ram by adding an extra 2gb's which will speed up multi tasking ect.

Hypothetically, would you bite the bullet for a laptop now considering the benefits of all the sales going on or would you wait until the summer to buy a laptop?

From what I've just learnt, I'd say it's Ivy bridge.

Well it depends on your urgency... Right now windows 8 is becoming the standard on laptops so windows 7 laptops will be selling off cheaper as they clear them to make way for windows 8. If i needed a laptop asap and had a limited fund then i would get this laptop if i didn't need a laptop right away i'd hold out as windows 8 are still experiencing some compatibility problems so this would give them more time to sort out more by then. If you want windows 8, can wait until summer and plan on getting a touchscreen then yes id say wait. Depends on the buyers situation i guess. It's not a steal at that price i'll admit but it's decent.

Thanks guys.
I'm surprised this has been getting cold votes as i couldn't find it, or same spec for less.
Its for my son who needs it to do work on using word and for internet and maybe watching films. No game playing as such.
As i said, if anyone knows of a better one or same for less, please post links as looking at buying one tomorrow possibly.
Cheers for your comments.

which one is latest and better between Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge?

sandy is 2xxx, ivy is 3xxx. 2500k is a sandy, 3570k is an ivy. Ivy is the latest and greatest.

Dont take any notice of the £150 price reduction. It was £399 three weeks ago. Currys / PC World just put their prices up on some items and drop them again in their 'sales' which is an old sales trick. If you believe the spec is worth £399 then get it.

Got a link please? Thinking about getting one for my son.

Is it worth paying the extra £50 for this laptop instead of the hp pavilion g6 on currys that is also on offer for £349?

i just bought HP Pavilion g6-2212sa 15.6" Laptop .all performance its fine but battery life is silly, its about 2 hours and it goes flat.i thought i bought faulty so i exchange it to another one but still the same problem.battery life is too short.just dont bother to buy this laptop!!!!

You can buy this laptop directly from HP for £400 www8.hp.com/uk/…146

Lol. Shows how crafty PC world and currys can be. I'm also looking for a good spec i5 laptop but at a great price. So if anyone knows of any please post.

i bought this laptop the other day. I think its a fab laptop for the spec and price. My battery last about 3-4 hours and could last longer if i put it on power saving mode.

bought this for my dad today.... I think its a good price for a decent spec... not a fan of windows 8 though???

12% cashback on TCB / Quidco..
