Most of these aren't flawless at switching GFX, I own a similar model. Easy to get running Win7 but even harder for the GFX to work as expected.

Link for what? everything is on the Co-op page... I went through that to the HP T&Cs and there are two references to cashback for this laptop, but I only saw the first one - which had expired. The second cashback offer says valid between 1st Dec to end of Jan though (not 29th December as it incorrectly states on the Co-op page).

The ebay one says cashback is only for purchases made by nov 2014 far as I can tell

It is, but ignore that price as it's just silly. Going rate for it seems to be nudging £500, with a lot of places retailing it at around £600, so tbh it's a great deal even before the cashback is taken off.

Also; if it comes with dual operating systems as some of the other ProBooks do, it's a fantastic deal as it will mean I haven't got to faff around upgrading it to Windows 7

See my previous post regarding this, there are two cashback offers - one expired at the end of November, the other is still current until the end of January - and it's HP you claim the money back from direct, so it doesn't matter what it says on eBay.

Much better to have it without going through eBay though, to make sure you have a proper invoice to satisfy the T&Cs for the claim...

which one is better this or the Asus. I know the Asus is 399 but i'm waiting for it to come down again. Not bothered about size of screen. I'm looking for good performance.

Probably nothing in it tbh. The HP has better graphics, but you wouldn't want to be playing any major games on either of them to be honest. The Asus also achieves its lower price tag by having a much smaller battery - obviously the big screen on the HP will consume more power, but it still has a 5 hour+ runtime rating compared to the 4 hours on the Asus.

The major plus point of the HP is the 17" screen, it's quite hard to get a big laptop with a decent spec at a good price at the moment. I've been waiting for another Medion code to appear, but this is much better.

I've just ordered this, but I'm not bothered in the screen size.

Is this Dell deal worth the extra £75 notes?

The HP has a bigger screen and higher resolution so is better in both those regards, but like I said, as far as actual performance goes there won't be much in it between those two as they are both the same basic spec. The HP just nudges ahead by having dedicated AMD graphics though (which if I am reading it correctly, only kick in when needed - the rest of the time the native Intel chip is used).

Obviously there is always the risk that they will find a way to wriggle out of the cashback, so if you aren't willing to take that risk don't go for the HP.

The Dell has an extra 4MB of ram, bit bigger storage, better graphics, and of course it has that all important "i7" badge on it.
If you aren't bothered about screen size, then the Dell is a slightly better machine and will be more portable.

Yes but you have to apply for the £75 cashback and ultimately it isn't set in stone that you will receive it. Perhaps a mod can clairify this but that was my understanding of using cashback in deals.

Agreed, it would probably have been better to put "possible £364.99 after cashback" right at the start of the title to make it clearer, but at some point people are going to have to accept responsibility for their own lives and read things properly

Why expired? Still available.

Unexpired and price amended back to the purchase price, cashback shouldn`t be included.

Great price if cashback comes in but standard price with out it.
