After the cashback it's already under £100? Also, if it were £100, then the cashback would not be on anymore, so it'd still be £100...

Ignore me, it's too early still.......
I love this box. Got mine running ubuntu with xbmc, sabnzbd, sickbeard, couchpotato and headphones.

For info, they can actually take 16gb ram.
Do any of these support eSata with "Port Multiplier"?
That is do they support multiple sata drives off a single connection?
I have a eSata 4-drive bay that I would like to use with one of these.
How long does it take to get the Cashback from HP?

No, it can be added with an additional card though.
Something like this:

Methinks HP wants everyone to buy one of these.
i already have an n36L sat in it's box waiting to be used. i now have an n40L coming tomorrow, so it too can sit in a box. maybe if i keep them long enough they'll become collectible. grr.
These have no history of catching fire. Anyone who claims otherwise is just quoting anecdote - not fact.
My milkman, hairdresser, postman and local farmer have all got one of these now !
None of them know what to do with it but it looks pretty.

the full 6 weeks or what ever it quotes
Ordered, thanks OP
I already have 2 of these, sure I could use a third...
Damn, I think i'll have to buy at this price. The cashback offer has been ongoing for a long time now, but I think they're getting down to the price point in which HP are going to think it's time to stop it.
Ok question because I'm very very tempted now.....

I have an old Dell 390 workstation that is gathering dust. It's a E6700 Curo 2 Duo with 2GB ECC RAM DDR2. Do I stick some RAM in this, add a passive GFX card with HDMI out plus a couple big HDD's and make a home server/HTPC? Or do I buy this to do the same job? Main issue with the Dell I see is the power consuption and noise if used in the living room.

Advice welcome

Guy
Just remember no OS provided here.
Damn you. Damn you. Already got an earlier model that I'm using as a 4TB NAS but quite fancy playing around with one of these using XBMC.

Agreed....... mines been switched on and running (with the occasional update reboot) for just over a year now without any problems!!! ;))
Which Nvidia 210 card are people putting in these?

Does the (below) Asus passive card fit ok as it has quite a big heatsink on it by the looks of it.

Ordered yesterday for £102.... do I cancel that order???
could this be used as a game server, ie server for counter strike maybe?
I thought the ATi 5450 or 6450 were better cards for things like XBMC? They have the audio decoding on as well.

So... if I bought this today will I be able to claim the cashback? Does the e-mail received after purchase count as an invoice or will I have to use the printed one that comes when I receive it?

Anyone had experience in not getting the cashback?

I really want it for £100... thats all

This one would do the trick.....

You wouldn't be able to play the latest games (but then this system is wrong for that anyway) but it will play 1080p video without fuss.

This one would be better for XBMC...

I am one of those that got a 5450 and then moaned as there were issues with decoding 1080p smoothly. After latest driver/xbmc update all seems well. Though my recommendation would be to just get the nvidia anwyay...
free coolerbag also!!!!
what about 5.1 DD over HDMI?

No prb with the cashback at all... I've claimed twice and both received within the next 30 days....
I bought two from a different supplier, but for more.

Cauterise.. you sounds like someone who can help Can I ask how do you remove the old drivers completely and reinstall with the latest driver?

I'm having issue with the old driver and when I tried installing the new one, it doesn't seems to uninstall the old ones

Thanks....
How hard is the mobo to get out on these? On my N36L it took a screwdriver and plenty of patience to remove the SAS cable. So is the SAS cable still wedged in really tight on this?
I've bought mine from server plus and their next day delivery means next day delivery. And customer support wise was great too when I got a problem initially....

Try Driver Sweeper from 3DGuru.

Anyone recommend the best parts for this:
ie hard drives (2TB+)
Graphics cards

and any other bits that are required?

Thanks
