£50 cheaper … £50 cheaper here:http://www.digital-fusion.co.uk/Inu_products/INU_ProdDetailsL9.asp?ref=1170J409

Feck, that was quick lol ! :-D

Nice price tho but obviously you'd need to beef up the RAM before you even bother to power it on !

In case people are not aware, no operating system installed either

>but hear goes anyway

"here goes" not "hear goes"

Search function is a great asset to this site as the product has been listed many times before. Prices have all gone up as they were available for about £150 a few months ago. Digital Fusion seems to be the cheapest now so I will add it as a link if the site lets me add a merchant.

That's what the likes of this "FREE" home server product are for:

amahi.org/

Run of a nice quiet Quad Server that will beat all the NAS's you can buy and give much more flexibility.

Got one a few months ago during the last deal £156. Runs very well on Windows 7 and 1GB RAM

Would this work with a Mac? I am looking for a server/NAS device but I am put off by the very high price of the off-the-shelf models.

Voted hot - missed out on the last few deals and I've been waiting for this to come up again. Not the cheapest price it's ever been, but still a great bargain if you are looking for a home server.

Perhaps a mod can update title with the better deal that sibeer found?

So what about upgrades... this is what i'm currently looking at:

4GB Ram - £34.99 each
play.com/PC/…tml (x2)

1.5 TB hard drive - £105.99 each

I have 8gb ram, 2 1tb hdd. hd2600pro, creative soundcard, windows 7 rc 7100, sony dvd writer... great work horse.

Just posted new deal for this but for some reason it was removed (registrant type unknown - anyone know what that means?) - [edit -
juliet_bravo - thanks for PM explaining the removal]

Anyway - this has dropped in price again at most sites. Lowest is £189.52 (+5.50 delivery) at digital fusion.

If you are interested in this server then it's worth checking these four sties as prices are changing daily:

Does it see 1TB hard drives ok?

I thought it was limited to 750gb.

750gb is the largest supported in the documentation - but it's a fairly old system and that was probably the largest available at the time. I've seen comments from people on here who have put 4 1.5TB drives in without issue....

Currently running it with 8GB and 6TB in RAID 5 - sounds like a hairdryer … Currently running it with 8GB and 6TB in RAID 5 - sounds like a hairdryer for the first 20 seconds, and then it is reasonably quiet.
