Review:

"BOTTOM LINE
The HP Slate 21 is a promise that Android will work for desktop PC users as well as it does for tablet users, with a nice price. The system fails on both counts."

Voted cold!

That Tegra® 4 will be far better than those Lenovo and Dell laptops for games, so a very impressive price. It might be all some people need !

I just have, I ended up doing a headstand.

I could flog a laptop and get this.....

Amazing bit of kit - I own one and would not hesitate to get another one.

Can this be used as a monitor? If not, it's valueless to me.

Got to bear in mind that the initial reviews were based on a £400 price tag. Yes, the device is flawed but it also has some strengths, one of them being that it's a hell of a lot of brand new hardware for the current asking price. If you have a practical use for it, in a kitchen for example, then it is well worth considering.

are they fast enough?

has a bad review. i dont think it's worth it.

Very heavey , to be expected based on size etc , you wont be using this as a handheld !!

Expect to see some tit with a child called Tarquin taking pictures at Disneyland with one of these in the near future.

Whenever I see someone taking pictures with a tablet I want to punch them in the mouth.

That's cheaper than what HP employees get it for.

Long shot - but is anybody using one as a sonos controller? Would be interested to hear any comments with this regard

You need to get help... Stress affects everyone and worrying is normal... Now take three deep breaths....

I had one for a while, its basically a desktop Android device. I bought it through curiosity (and it being cheap) and was very impressed. I watch a lot of Netflix and its brilliant, effectively a smart TV. SkyGo also works on it as well as the usual iPlayer/TVCatchup etc.

I ended up returning as my curiosity was now satisfied, it is a great piece of work for the money, very good build quality etc. Mine came with a Keyboard and Mouse (not sure if one is included with this.

Pretty sure he's taking the mick

you are not making it easier for the weak people trying to resist mate.

I laughed so much when i saw the smaller version of this in Iggy Azealeas "black Widow" music video featuring Rita Ora, it was such an obvious product placement, other artists show products for literally half a second

Sounds like to me to be a fantastic buy for those who don't want a desktop PC and don't like the tablet format. This is the bottom line for those who want the best of both worlds namely an Android tablet plonked onto a desk with huge display.

Sounds like a very niche market, as said before would seem ok for the kitchen but then a 10" tablet would also be ok and useful elsewhere. Guess if your rich and need it all it would do but then why wouldnt you buy a smart tv or an all in one pc instead.

I guess I just dont get the market for this, not as good as a tablet, not as good smart tv and not as good as good as an all in one desktop.

Not sure if there's an upgrade path for this, would be tempted if HP upgrade it to Kitkat and the upcoming Android L...
(but HP are staying mute, no official announcements it seems)

Hmm - I'm a sucker for buying gadgets but I'm not sure about this on reflection ( having voted it hot) I just don't see where I would use a huge Android device. But good on HP for trying it out - I guess it hasn't been a great success and the PC Mag report linked earlier in the thread is a bit of a deal killer! So before you buy just take a step back, take a deep breath and think under what circumstances would you actually use this ! (PS I failed to do that on the re furb Chrome book I bought about a month ago - nice device but haven't used it much ! ) Still that's the beauty of HUKD - stuff you didn't know you needed is going cheap and possibly after a few beers it seems like a wonderful idea !

Does it have bluetooth connectivity? I cant seem to find out on the specs or details?

Have a read at the replies to the review.oO

George

The review does seem to be slated as inaccurate.

Only real problem I can really see is the lack of memory 1gb isn't a lot, and the 2 point touch screen if true.

I own the Asus aio 18.4" and there is definitely a use for a tablet of this size, films, music server, web browsing, Now Tv, Sky Go.

I can understand why many have found niche areas of use - cooking recipes, music as mentioned

software looks outdated...
