Is this better than the tab3 7 I just bought as that was a waste of £90

why pay £90 for that junk when you can get 2012 nexus 7 for £120 new which blows the socks off the tab 3

unlike your touchsmart and touchstone dock this item has a argos 12 month warranty so they will have to repair or replace if a fault develops

Got this for my dad when Argos had it on special offer for Easter, at £99.99. I used a £20 off voucher from a newspaper and got £20 cash back from HP too. So I effectively paid just under £60 and it was brand new. That was a great deal and so is this. My dad hasn't had any problems with his. Some common apps aren't compatible but apart from that it is a good tablet for the money, I think it will be more reliable than the Acer Iconia B1 which it competes with at this price. I believe the original RRP on the Slate 7 was bit higher than that of the Iconia B1. Not that it counts for anything.

Why do you say it'll be more reliable than the B1? How do you think they compare generally?

snatch_master

that's £30 more, it is only for a 2yr old

so if its only for a 2 year old why wont the tab 3 do you then ??? which you said was a waste of money , the nexus 7 - 2012 gen is not a waste of money for £120 new .

I have read a lot about problems occurring with B1, I have read about problems with Slate 7 too. Just far fewer. I guess that B1 could be more popular, hence the greater number of problem reports.

I couldn't find the right deal, this is the one! Third time lucky. Look HERE

and with slight screen size difference same crap spec....

I have to say, Bulldog's other deal on the eight inch Iconia A1 at £80.99 is an incredibly good deal. It deserves more heat than it's received.

Perhaps it really is slate.

i think this tablet does not have square pixels so things look stretched

No it's just Amazon like to list the packaged weight as the product weight. So that means you're also counting the box, packaging, instructions, cable and both UK and European plugs in the weight.

Not worth an extra £20.

The two devices are very similar in lots of ways, but I think the Slate 7 just edges ahead thanks to it's larger battery (3500 mAh vs 2710 mAh), faster processor (1.6 GHz dual core vs 1.2 GHz dual core) and rear camera (3.15 MP vs No Rear Facing Camera). Check out this spec comparison is between the HP Slate 7 and the Acer Iconia B1 v1, the only hardware difference between the Acer Iconia B1 v1 and the Acer Iconia B1 v2, which is the updated version. Is the RAM, the new one has 1GB as opposed to 512 MB in the older model. The only other difference is cosmetic, the Acer Iconia B1 v2 looks far better. Look HERE

I would personally avoid this. I had a play with one when deciding what to get the gf for Christmas. It was really awful, mainly the screen and the speed.

Screen was washed out, dull and had terrible motion blur when scrolling. It wasn't the smoothest performance either.

The Samsung galaxy tab 2 next to it was better in every way. I'd personally go for the Acer that keeps being mentioned. Not voting

stretched non-square pixels so distorted screen. Poor tablet at reduced price is still a poor tablet. Cold.

Having just read the Gizmodo review, I'm glad I opted for the Acer now. The non-square pixels on this would do my head in and the Acer has GPS and costs less. Granted, there's no rear camera on the Acer but it would never get used anyway, and judging from the review, the rear camera on this isn't up to scratch anyway. And in my experience, RAM is usually the bottleneck on Android devices so the higher clock speed won't do much except drain the battery quicker. Might help with 3D games but tablets are no good for those kinds of games anyway - they're for things like Angry Birds and World of Goo.

It works fine with BBC Iplayer, but has sound/image sync issues with other popular streaming apps such as TVCatchup.

I would suggest saving your money and looking elsewhere.
