WOW, thought this was a fantastic deal, cannot find this laptop anywhere else brand new apart from eBay which is £597 just for the laptop. The Argos deal also includes Norton 360 Deluxe which can be used on 5 devices.

5 star reviews from what I can see, Amazon have sold out and when they did have this laptop, it received some glowing reviews, similar specs for HP laptops on Amazon are selling at £550+ so this is a great deal especially with Norton 360 thrown in + £20 off for Office if you need that to.

Check it out.

Sleek, dependable laptop with an expansive screen - Stay connected to what matters most with a long battery life and a sleek and portable, micro-edge bezel design. Built to keep you productive and entertained from anywhere, the HP 39.6 cm (15.6) laptop features reliable performance and - an expansive display - letting you stream, surf and speed through tasks from sun up to sun down.

Reliable performance for every day Powerful enough for your busiest days – this PC features an Intel Core i5 processor. Plus, speed things up and store more of what you love with ample device storage. HP Fast Charge When your laptop is low on power, no one has time to wait hours to recharge. Power down your device and go from 0 to 50% charge in approximately 45 minutes.

Micro Edge display By squeezing a larger screen into a smaller frame, this ultra-thin, barely visible bezel revolutionizes your display's appearance with a beautifully efficient design. Sleek design Easily take this thin and light PC from room to room or on the road. When your PC goes wherever you go, staying productive and entertained has never been easier.

Why is it, on almost every laptop or computer based deal, people always have to start arguing & debating? its a deal, its a decent deal, people talk about screen quality, nits of brightness and so much more, 10 years ago the term: "nits of brightness" was not even heard of, and now we here about it all the time.

This laptop as got some great reviews, yes we all know they are better laptops out there with much better screens but they cost a lot more money, one guy as stated "find a laptop with a better screen" when people start debating about screen technology and so much more, people get so confused and never stop looking for a perfect laptop, then the deal as gone...

Sometimes I just wish people would stop debating so much on this website... Its not just on laptops and technology based items either, its on a lot of deals and I often question why? I wish people would stop debating so much, if the person looking at the deal is happy let them buy it without getting confused with so many diverse and argumentative opinions.

This is a decent enough deal which is why I shared it, we can all talk about nits of brightness, VA, SVA, IPS and gods knows what else until the thread is nothing but opinions, if a person as only got £499 to spend, let them spend it and if you can offer any better alternatives do so in the thread, I do not mind people sharing opinions on posts and deals, but what bothers me so so much on this website, is when you start saying a deals threads full of debates and argumentative opinions and the people doing so are not interested at all in the deal itself, they just like to get into debates, if you can offer any better alternatives & better deals share them.

Lots of teenagers and general geeks on HUKD. It’s unlikely that their family members would engage in dull conversation over their nits so they come on here to impress their peers over their new found knowledge. Don’t let it get to you. Good deal

I think debating is quite good. I've learned a lot from others on this site. In terms of deals, not so much, as I never understood how people vote on here. To me, apart from deals, this is an educational site. Yes, lots of people use terminology we've never heard of, pick up on stupid things and so on, but I rather have this than cold votes without justification. At least on a debate you can figure out why they vote cold and use your judgement if you should go for that deal or not.
What I don't like is when people suggest some basic or above basic devices are rubbish. Those who don't know will believe them and spend stupid amounts on a 4GB RAM tablet, when in fact 2GB would have been enough for them, will pay double for 16GB RAM on laptops instead of 8GB and so on...

Perfect for what we need. Wife only uses laptop for web based activity inc. logging in via Citrix to her remote desktop for work. Screen type and graphics card do not really matter. SSD, i5 and Battery are spot on! Other options available but she's a HP fan so win:win! Cheers

Just seen this post and was wondering whether to swap the i3 (8th gen) version of this for the i5!

Is it worth paying about £120 more to have 8GB ram, a 10th gen i5 chip and windows 10 (i3 has windows 10s). Or is it best to stick with the i3?

This is the i3 link:argos.co.uk/pro…780

Thank you for all the advice. Not sure what to do.

It's easy to disappear down the rabbit hole with all the jargon, isn't it! I would like to know if this is a glossy or matte screen, if anyone knows. Neither Argos nor HP answer this question which is quite important for some buyers

Well the extra 4gb ram is worth £20 and extra storage worth £20 so your paying £80 more for the i5 which will be much more capable and faster. I personally would because you can't change the processor afterwards.

If you plan on keeping the laptop for a few years, I'd suggest finding one with at least 8gb ram. 4gb will be fine for browsing a website but with all the bits they put in modern is plus utilities normal people tend to add, it will feel tight. 128gb ssd is fine for the os and standard apps. You will want more if storing all your photos and videos on it or large AAA games (can be 50gb each). The i3 will be fine for simple office tasks, with a better processor helping for video / graphics / specialist apps.

So I would say that if your needs are basic, the £120 might not be worth it... But if you think you will need a couple of the extras you probably need to get them now (or make sure you can upgrade later).

Definetely better to go with this one. Double storage is not that important to me, as you can get a thumb drive if you want. Windows S not a problem either. But you also get a better processor and 8GB RAM. While I mentioned several times that 4GB RAM is still ok and the majority had a different opinion than mine, I think in a year or two, 4GB RAM will be not enough and you may even struggle to sell it.

Can't imagine myself selling it (kids are already getting excited about it!!), but I personally want to try some gaming on it (after the unreal tournament deal was posted here...) so it makes better sense to get the better one. I wasnt sure about the price difference as dont have a clue on prices of these things, so all the advice was much appreciated. Thanks again.
