Have seen older versions posted last year without 4K screen. Some may not want or need a 4K screen, others may do.

I am considering this one to replace my 256GB, i5, 8GB Surface Pro 3

Hot for the discount but way too expensive for what it is.
I purchased a HP Envy 13 laptop just over a year ago and got a better price over the phone than online they also gave me a leather sleeve for free

Thanks for tip. What did you say to get the lower price?
Boring colour! Dark ash! I have an old one.The spectre used to come in a variety of metallic finishes, some were really great. Made it stand out.
An annoying thing. When pens for laptops were introduced, they used to fit in a hole in the laptop. You don't see what nowadays unfortunately.

have to agree, even at half that price I'd want 8x+ the storage space. certainly looks fast performance spec, but 1tb storage should be the baseline by now.

Because they are that thin they don’t have space, I would sacrifice a pen hole for a sleeker laptop.
Way too expensive for an i5 with 256GB. This laptop (with 6th gen i5, other specs identical) cost me £700 on 2016's Black Friday.

I did use my nephews student discount available and also I told them I was in the market for something and else and I wanted their best price or I’ll go somewhere else

It does require an active pen, then maybe because of the batteries, their one seems very thick.
My passive pen is only 9mm thick
Regarding finishes, they are still available with the different models of spectre. Wow, they're expensive!!

My mistake, Full HD only. Still looks a tad expensive at £1200 for what it offers.
Please bear in mind this: batteryprogram687.ext.hp.com/ Battery recall for a few HP Laptops, including this. So if you buy you may be without machine whilst battery is replaced.
Buying a new laptop is ridiculously difficult.
I think HP might regret the name given to this device given the latest chip hack news
I really wish they'd make all these high spec, touchscreen laptops in 15.6" size. Seems 13" and 14" has taken over the touchscreen space.

I loved my 15" HP Envy x360 and when I broke it, and found their new x360 models lack a security lock slot, there's almost nothing else out there.
Would seriously consider this if it had better graphics

The new Microsoft Surface book is available in both 13in and 15in sizes although not cheap. Dell's XPS 15 offers a high end 15in screen with touchscreen although no rotating display.

I assume the lack of machines is due to the lack of demand, I have 11, 12 and 13in 2 in 1's but even the 13in is on the big side for use as a tablet.

I thought XPS has no touchscreen?

Yep, admittedly I barely ever use it as a tablet, but the touchscreen has become second nature even in normal laptop mode. I wouldn't miss the rotating display at all.

I think you are correct. Within their current lineup, Dell only offer 15" touchscreens on their Inspiron 5000 2-1 range. XPS models don't have touchscreens above 13"

The XPS 15 definitely does have an optional touch screen on both the 9550 and 9560 models:

dell.com/en-…top

"15.6" 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) InfinityEdge touch display"

"Touch friendly: Tap, swipe and pinch your way around the screen. The optional touch display lets you interact naturally with your technology."

The single XPS 15 9550 on the outlet currently lists the screen as:

"15.6inch 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) InfinityEdge Touch Display"

My 15" XPS has a touchscreen. Can't say I've ever used it in the 18 months I've had it however!
