First go at this so go easy!

Was mulling over the two deals for the EX490 but left it too late and missed out.
Came across the X510 3TB at Ebuyer for £452.90. (Free delivery with supersaver option).
Here is a review I found:
usingwindowshomeserver.com/200…er/

Basically its the same as the EX490 but with a E5200 processor and this one comes with 2 x1.5Tb drives instead of 1 x 1Tb

Could be a misprice as cheapest Ive found it elsewhere is £535.94 at LambdaTek

Get a life!

I seem to remember a rule of thumb back in the 128kbs days that 1 minute = 1 megabyte. Assuming the average song is 4mb long and the capacity of this is ~2.5TB usable then we're looking at 625,000 which would take 1736.1 days. I think.

Nice kit.

Why you would spend such serious money on storage for audio and then settle for 128Kbps MP3 is the real question.

Anyway, I haven't priced any parts up so I won't vote either way, but I'm sure you could build an equivalent Windows Home Server for much less. You only need a very low spec for a simple home file server.

Nice, been looking for one of these for a decent price for a while:thumbsup:

Shame eBuyer don't supply the other X510 configurations. The 1.5TB Seagates drives supplied aren't as reliable as they should be. And for me, I already have 2TB drives so it seems a waste to be paying for 1.5TB drives that I won't use.

Good find though - H+R added.
