Good price but still hanging out for a touch screen one. Love my yoga 300 and unfortunately so does the wife! Heat though
With the 20% off it's cheap is this.
Does anyone know if the memory and or ssd are upgradable or are they soldered?
Is it mmc (tiny ssd) ?
Win 10 would cope ok with 2gb ram I guess
is the eBay 20% still running?
W10 better with 4G RAM

I bought one for my daughter a while back, and it's pretty good really. The hardware isn't upgradable, but it does have an SD slot which helps, and the upgrade to Win10 was a bit of a pita, but worked ok in the end. For youtube and Win10 Minecraft - it works great.
Was tempted by this, but keep asking myself if I really need when I have a Chromebook. I'm still awaiting the answer from myself...

They were helpfully answering a question, not slagging the price.

Unfortunately , no, all hard soldered, but we got the 13 inch one, and it had win 10 already installed, slap a micro sd in the side, or a flush mount USb3 flash drive, and you're good to go.
Ordered. Thanks OP. I need something small and basic for work, this should do the trick nicely.

Do you need the additional features of Windows 8/10 over Chrome OS? If not stick with the Chromebook.
I got this brand new for £100 last year
Still a good price so voting hot
The blue looks so bad in person or I'd be all over this. The whole asthetic just screams Vtech. Voted hawt but just suggesting that if you don't want the other children to laugh at you then maybe go have a look at one in PC World first.

yes i would like more info too! i have 2 pay pals
There are pink ones available as well - 6 months and 12 months warranty
Good machine. I sold mine on eventually as it was surplus to requirement. And sold it for more than £100 so a good deal here.

For those interested, it will run linux but it's not the most straightforward to get working out of the box. I did a write up last year about getting it working (google linux mint on HP stream 11 and you'll get the details)

I wonder if it would work fine with FreeBSD.

Unfortunately I need to work with Windows but I wouldn't Ming running FreeBSD from a stick.
yes that's the one.

I've never done a FreeBSD install before and I'm not sure where the driver coding is up to there. That's the challenge with the Stream, the drivers are a bit flaky in the standard linux build for it so you do need to do some work. The other issue which I really banged into was the way the kernel struggles with the eMMC drive. It slows the boot up time down although once running seems to be fine. I also struggled to get a 64 bit installation working whereas others have managed it, and the only different seems to be the BIOS revision.

But if you can boot it up from a live USB that's a start.
Seen a couple of these in the flesh at PC World. Both screens were washed out. I wasn't expecting a grea screen but these were woeful. Any one had one like to comment on the screen quality for daily use?

Had mine (13 inch screen model) 6 months and its fine for normal daily use.
Battery life is very good if you use as intended (not endless video or gaming). I get 5-6 hours out of it.
Keyboard wont be to everyones taste but the white key tiles contrast well against the blue making it easier on the eye to use in low light.
Overall I am really pleased with mine, but it is a slightly more expensive model (the 023a)

I was almost tempted to get one of these a while back - but you're right, the screen is a shocker (compared to my IPS Asus T100 screen).
In fact, I can't remember the last time I saw a worse screen on any modern laptop.

I didn't think it was that bad. If you're on the fence you need to have a look at one in person and decide for yourself.

How much better is better e.g. with Firefox browsing with 100 tabs open, mate?
Be warned , I had one of these from Argos as it got good reviews came with Win 10, but you need an external drive from the start to update windows as out of the box, with a 32GB SD, it didn't even have the required 8GB free to do the update!

This is actually a good thing. It's quicker and easier to install Windows 10 from a bootable USB stick than to try and do it via the rather tedious automatic method.

(It does require an 8GB USB stick - though I imagine it's a rare household that doesn't have such a thing laying around!)

I think where it let itself down massively on this is that it got a long way through the upgrade process before falling over because of this point. True not difficult to fix but not everyone has the confidence to have to work out what to do when it just doesn't happen automatically.

Mine arrived this morning. Looks brand new. Well built machine and the screen was better than I was expecting, certainly much better than the Samsung netbook I'm replacing. All working perfectly so far. Bargain.

This is definitely a big upgrade from a netbook. Enjoy
I ordered 2 on Sunday and both arrived this morning.

I've just upgraded one to Windows 10 and the other is just finishing up.

No usb or extra external space needed, both promoted me after switching on and went through the upgrade process. Very smooth.
