Check out the Dell chromebook 11 if you're just using it for Web browing
I bought a refurb for 101 @ Argos ebay, upgraded to windows 10 and is probably one of the fastest laptops I have every used.

Why limit yourself. Full Windows based laptop any day of the week.

But why buy a Windows laptop if you don't need windows only apps. If all it's going to be used for is web browsing, light office work and email then a Chromebook in this price range is much faster

I just got rid of my Chromebook for a Asus X205TA. Got it new off eBay for £124 (actually less by the time I'd applied a load of discount codes and Nectar points etc) and I have to say it's a damn sight better than my old Samsung Series 5 550 Chromebook.

Normally I'd complain, but that's fine for a 11 inch screen.

If it was 13 inch or higher I'd have a problem with it.

£179.99 Blue and Magenta today, but thanks for playing.
They've been cheaper. £119.99 a few weeks back at the Microsoft store. Not that i'm suggesting anyone has a time machine....
Probably not a good time to buy ultra budget laptops or tablets given how they tend to feature heavily for black friday.
I don't see any reviews for "HP Stream Pro" online. All reviews are for HP Stream. I guess performance will be the same as they all have the same innards.

Does anyone if the standalone version of Ms Office (eg: Office Home & Student 2016) can be installed on these laptops?

shows 149.99 for me too...
What's Windows 8.1 like on a 2GB Celeron vs. Chrome? The same spec on a Chromebook is reasonably competent.

Would you be able to put Windows 10 on this? Thinking of it as a poss school computer.

Yup it will install, its a full pc, will run anything any other computer will, just not as well if its very cpu intensive

You could buy this, use chrome (so you can use your chrome apps) and have all the advantages of having a full blown computer.

Windows 10 will run on this, but I've never done it, I've had a play with one with windows 8.1 and its surprisingly capable!

Good point, is there any reason to think this has a better build quality than a Chromebook? WHat's HP like these days?
I quite like HP, I've got a higher spec one for work, just over a year old and still running like new, which has to be positive in today's world. I bought 2 of the stream for my kids, they both came with 2yrs 200gb One Drive and a £20 Microsoft App Store Gift Card which you have until 31st December to register and then another 90 days to redeem.

I would say these are built better, but Tesco's/pcworld tend to have these on display all the time, might be worth a visit to a local store if your thinking of getting one, I was honestly surprised at how good they feel.

Thanks. I'm a bit concerned about the comment on the other thread that putting 10 on is basically impossible.
I'm in the process of putting 10 on both of mine, when you first boot them up part of the set up process is upgrading to 10 (if you want to), but like my current laptop, you have to go through lots of updates before they will issue the 10 update. I'll let you know how I get on.
This is old model. Newer is out with better battery and couple other changes.
