Just saw this deal on Play. It looks a really nice small HP 16GB USB and is perfect for my daughter as she is preparing for College now she has finished her exams. This looks the cheapest 16GB USB on their site (apart from an own brand one) as is also HP. I have just placed my order.

Looks like fairly respectable speeds for a 'budget' usb drive as well:

Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Mac OS: 10.3 and above
Operating Temperature: 0°C to 70°C
Storage Temperature: -20°C to 85°C
Read Speed: 25 MB/s
Write Speed: 8MB/s
Weight: 5g
Size: L 42mm x W 19mm x H 7mm
Warranty: 2 years

Heat added.

For £1.45 more, I think the bytestor from amazon is a better buy- faster too

I have this drive. Nice and dinky, but for some reason not recognised by some of my computers.

Seems it's manufactured by PNY.

Looked at the Bytestor drives on Amazon, but according to the reviews they are actually slower - These Bytestor's are 19mb read and 7mb write. Therfore I am going for the HP model as it looks well made, good name and warranty. Plus I have heard of HP and PNY - Unlike Bytestor. Sorry, but this looks a great deal.

PS - And it's cheaper!

Price has reduced to £12.79 - no point making a new deal so ammend the price when you get the chance

Doh. Ordered this for me HP microserver @ £12.99

does this have a cap? caps annoy me. but maybe not at this price....!

£12ish is the market price for a £16 gig usb drive.

Any one has this can give the real read/write transfer rate?

Top Deal!

I've used 2 of these with no problem...you might want to attach a wrist lanyard to make it less losable :-)

Play.com also sell the Hewlett Packard V165 16GB. It is £1.50 more, but smaller which can be very useful. The V260 stated speeds are faster but in practice the speed of the V165 doesn’t present a problem.

This doesn’t detract from the value of this offer, which is good, but some might prefer the more compact alternative.

Ordered and heated! Nice fine

The official PNY data sheets for both of these states the same performance

PERFORMANCE**

Data transfer rate

• 4GB: up to 4MB/sec write, 20MB/sec read
• 8GB, 16GB: up to 8MB/sec write, 25MB/sec read

Throw the cap away.....?

WTF. Just transferred a 700mb movie onto it in 54 seconds. Correct me if i'm wrong but that's a write speed of 12.96mb/s :O

Fantastic deal, ordered, thanks.

why has this been expired? Its still in stock. I wanted to get one of these, but I'm confused now.

Oh, ****, just typed into the wrong thread. The thread I was meant to type into is still active.
