Dell or Lenovo is the way to go from my research. Got a Dell myself from cex for £220 and it's brilliant.

I've not tried any VR yet, but this is a good starting point. At least there is no problem returning it with amazon.

Actually it's Samsung for MR and of you have the money HTC.
These are awful MR headsets. Get another brand of possible or for an all round better experience get an oculus.

I wouldn’t say the rift is allround better, it has a worse screen for one. they both play all the same games too. the controllers are better on the rift but then their not that terrible on mixed reality, much better than the psvr in acurancy and tracking. The price difference and convenience of set up are both plus points too for the mixed reality.

Unfortunately, you can't get the Samsung here in the UK.

I've had this HP device for a few months and it hasn't disappointed. Steam VR works well, as does Revive for Occulus exclusive games.

I have the lenovo got mine from CEX for £235 for a grade A model. It was essentially brand new the seal on the box was broken but the headset and controllers where in unopened bags inside the box. 2 years warranty with CEX as well and obviously the option to trade some stuff in to make it cheaper.

Only had it for 2 weeks but I love the headset. Works well with Steam games. Been enjoying Contagion VR demo and others like VR Chat, The Lab, PayDay 2 VR. Just waiting on Fallout 4 VR to drop in price. I prefer this over the Rift. Saying that I only used the rift for a few hours.

You can get it shipped from eBay stores but charges are not going to be nice.

But thats the point. On paper the screen is worse but the experience far outweighs anythign the windows mixed reality headsets can offer. Juts shows what good software can accomplish! Windows might catch UK eventually but I'm not innthe market for maybes. The rift offers a solid experience for myself.
are all vr experiences and companies following a specific protocol so that vr games on all platforms will be able to work with each companies device ? maybe with small adaptations to the code

i would imagine the games/software companies would like to increase their customers

this may not be good for the tech inventors but may increase take up by the public

or is it still the wild west and fight out by a number of companies ?

the experience? you do know that there is a little program called revive that lets you play everything on the vive and oculus store. I know you think your in some sort of exclusive club but i can play Robo Revive, and enjoy free games like luckys tale and also take advantage of sales on the occulus store, Dead and Buried recently cost me £1.19p

WMR has a set of benchmarks so they're basically indistinguishable from each other. Little differences between them in design etc but largely there's no difference between HP, ACER, Lenovo etc WMR. Samsung are introducing a variant with a slightly better screen but outside of that are limited by the necessary spec sheet and proposed RRP.

The problem comes from a legacy system like the Oculus which is getting a little long in the tooth and doesn't quite have the tech anymore but does have a rich backer meaning companies are being compelled to support them- a tad wild West-y.

Tl;dr- VR could still flunk out as systems have been far too expensive to sustain a market but WMR might save the genre so long as the Oculus/Vive owners don't get too butthurt about paying three times the amount and tank uptake of the new systems in forums etc.

Yes but nowhere near as well as the oculus but again I must stress this is just my personal experience.
Not as well your clearly a fanboy I've had a play on a Vive a Oculus, a PSVR and a Dell version of windows mixed reality, the dell MR has a higher screen refresh, higher resolution, and a better FOV. Robo recall plays better as it simulates the extra towers set up so your not getting told to turn around all the time, and can actually play it like a room scale game.

like i mentioned above the only downside to MR is the controllers aren't as good but its a minor thing and they work really well overall. Their miles better than the psvr's and as that's the current no1 VR headset sales wise I'm sure their good enough for 99% of people who pick them up.
