sorted byApologies but IPS is an LCD tech.
Yes I prefer va I cannot stand the poor blacks and Ips glow
but va panels have got their downsides too but id take the va downsides than the ips ones
And the other thing that need to be consider as nvidia user of a 3080 you can't have hdr and gsync activated at the same time, with amd I supposed you are not going to have that problem. (edited)
It isn't just the VA Vs IPS differences but also the HP is a flat panel display and the Samsung has a 1000r rated curve - one of the most curved of curved monitors you can buy.
Personal preferences and choice will factor a lot in your decision, no absolutes in terms of which is better.
Who doesn't want Ips?
Sounds like an LCD fanboy!
Got the Dell OLED on order though so trying to wait. Great deal though.
Fair enough. It all comes down to personal preference.
Heat added and thanks for posting.
Maybe me for one
???
Out of curiousity, why? Do you prefer VA panels? Are they better for gaming than IPS?
Just trying to get a perspective for myself and why people prefer certain panels
Whoops! Thanks for highlighting that!
Oh so jealous! The oled looks awesome
Got a long wait according to Dell but got an order in with the discount code taking it to 850 so happy to wait.
Yea last I checked delivery was available in August. You got such a good deal, it's a steal at that price. Is that code still active? I would order one if so. Honestly a good monitor is worth the investment, I got an HP omen 35 X when it first came out and have loved it ever since, it improves gaming so much
No the code was pulled and I don't think you can get them much under RRP currently.
Samsung Odyssey G5 LC34G55TWWRXXU 34" 1000R Curved Gaming Monitor - 165Hz, 1ms, 1440p WQHD - £339 @ Amazon - hotukdeals
Samsung is available for the same price on eBay so still valid but different seller.
Damn, was hoping it was more straight forward ha! Nothing is ever simple is it.
I've been using 2x 27inch curved MSI monitors currently so think curved should be OK. Have seen comments on the "extreme" curvature online.
Unfortunately neither Argos (for HP) nor the ebay seller (Samsung) accept open box returns
As a broad generalisation I do not care much for a VA panel, the viewing angles etc being better for an IPS screen. Again it is down to personal choice and usage.
A 1000r monitor is, for me, would be too curved. The 1500r Samsung VA panel at 34" I tried was also too much of a curve. I just did not like it nor did I wish to keep it for too long to try and adapt.
As you already use a curved screen, well two, at least you understand a little of the pros and cons. But yes the 1000r is quite acute, in terms of its curve.
I prefer a two monitor setup up over a single screen. Again a personal choice.
Out of curiosity, what was the fault with your monitor?
At first it seemed great, no issues. But after a few minutes it would flash continually. Different cables or refresh rate didn't matter....
So far the replacement has been great. If anyone else has got one you can get a full three years onsite warranty, well they collect and return it to HP, for less than £3....!
