If you've got a HP server with iLO3 upwards then you'll be aware that certain vital functionality (such as remote KVM and virtual media) are no longer included free with the server itself and have to be purchased separately (welcome to the world of enterprise IT where everything has £££ attached to it!)

You can get a 60 day free trial of the license from HPE, but they've now extended this trial period till the end of 2020. I'm not sold on the pricing of the normal iLO licenses, but at least this way you've got it for over 7 months to decide whether it's something you'd use often enough to pay for or not. More to the point, if you're an IT person supporting HP servers and now working from home, you may find this saves you a trip or two into the office; either to maintain or even rebuild your server remotely.

If you don't understand any of the above, but you know your company has servers locked away in a room somewhere, why not forward this link on to them to see if they can benefit?

Wrong logo. HPE is the green rectangle
Plenty of advanced keys on ebay for less than £5.
Just beware of what features your hardware supports before jumping into buying the key to unlock the advanced features. So the trial is worth it just to see if you do need the extra abilities of the server's ilo.

I have the HP Microserver Gen8. I've only ever used the iLO side of things to manage it. Its never had a keyboard or mouse connected to it, just power and ethernet cables. Installing the OS from a virtual CD or ISO image over the network has been great. Even the remote console is useful from time to time.

Not my doing - I didn't add any logos to the deal so assume the mod has.

Those £5 keys you find in ebay and other places are generated with keygens... better save yourself some money and google a bit. There are a ton of sellers that sell counterfeit keys, they are very common for VMware and other products that don't call home.
