I would never switch accounts again.

I didn't swich to HSBC but I just don't think it is worth the hassle.

I needed more than £50 in fuel, parking and stress after they made a mess of my account.

I've been a bit of a tart with Banks. I switched from Natwest to Citibank to Smile to Lloyds to Halifax and finally to 1st Direct (HSBC). My experience is that once you've done it once, it's a lot easier the next time. Sometimes direct debits get missed once, but usually the recipient is to blame or understands if you call to let them know. It was certainly worth getting paid £100 pounds for. IIRC Halifax and Lloyds paid me to switch to them too.

I'd advise everyone to avoid Lloyds like the plague as they really are banking amateurs, so I suppose that includes Halifax now that Lloyds own them. I'm stuck with 1st Direct for now as I switched my mortgage to them and I offset it with my Current account. However, I've had no reason to complain about 1st Direct's service since I switched 2 years ago.

First Direct are part of HSBC and offer a better deal.
Switch to first direct and we'll give you £100*. If you're not happy after 6 months we’ll help you move to another bank and give you another £100**. That's £100 if you like us and £200 if you don’t.
Iv just switched from Halifax High Interest current over to the Alliance and Leicester deal (£100 cashback + £45 Quidco ) Ita going through at the moment, no problems so far. With theHalifax changes, I have no benefit to my account anymore as I am always in credit! Plnning to pocket the cashback and switch again in a few months.

This deal looks good, however as a previous customer of HSBC (I was with them before Halifax) I wont be returning to them unless they significantly increase the cashback!

Good deal for others, heat added but they wont be getting my custom this time around.
