Is this a better phone than the pixel?

Seems on par with the pixels except it has a better resolution screen 2k screen..but I would go with an amoled panel (personal choice)

Great DAC in this too and bear stock android. Was tempted between this and iPhone 7+ when I got rid of the bloatware S7 Edge.

What's DAC?

What's DAC?

DAC = Digital to Analogue Converter.

It's the chip that converts digital audio from the phone into analog signals that come out through the headphone jack to drive your headphones.

The quality of the DAC has a huge impact on the quality of sound that you get out of a phone's headphone socket.

Pity it's a HTC design. Never liked them much.

Bought this for 399 earlier on in the year as I couldn't afford a pixel, I have been very impressed, the specs are very similar to pixel but HTC has an SD card slot which is a bonus, would definitely recommend this phone, heat

I like this phone a lot, but the pixel does have a better camera.

Still using my HTC one m8 , which I upgraded to from Samsung Galaxy S2 many moons ago , phone is 3 years old now and although still going strong I do notice a huge difference compared to my girlfriend's buttery smooth iPhone 7 so planning on getting the Pixel 2 when that comes out .

Can definitely reccomended HTC, build quality seems to always be top notch and the software is pretty good too

For the price I would personally rather get a Pixel but that's just me

Are you me? I also have the m8, upgraded from a Samsung, a gf with an iPhone 7 and I'm also waiting for the Pixel 2. If it's underwhelming however, I might go for the Samsung S8.

Not long upgraded from the HTC One M8 to the HTC 10, both fantastic phones.

Only issue I have is that many official HTC accessories are becoming increasingly difficult to find in the UK.

If any one can point me to a seller of the official universal car mount I'd greatly appreciate it!

Pixel is now on Android 8, when does this get it?

This is an awesome phone, I got it when it was released and was very happy with it.

Unfortunately the very first ones developed a problem where they would sometimes get extremely hot when on charge and the battery would expand causing spots to appear on the lcd.

I had insurance and they had none in stock for a direct replacement so ended up paying a little and getting a Pixel instead.

Pixel v HTC 10. I'd say even though there's 1 mark in it, the Pixel camera is much much better. The HTC10 has a poor lens cover which attracts fingerprints and needs to be wiped clean before you take pics with a microfiber cloth. The Pixel is also more snappy too and a lot lighter. The HTC 10 is still snappy and has better software than the usual rubbish that companies put on top of Android and it feels really solid and premium. HTC battery lasted longer for me.

I prefer the Pixel but not that much more than the HTC.

That'll be a grey import, good luck trying to use the warranty if it develops a fault.

Had this phone for about a year now and I'm pleased with it, great build quality as I've dropped it countless times and all that's happened is a few paint chips because of the metal body

I still using my HTC10. I got mine knowing they its camera is not as good other brand phones with similar spec such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 etc, because the DAC and built-in headphone amp is better than the other phones and that's what I require the most, as I listen to music from my phone via earphone/headphone a lot. The DAC and headphone amp on the HTC10 is very good, it could even push my Beyerdynamic DT770 250 ohm beautifully, which is actually quite impression I have to say.

As other people commented, I'm in a similar boat with HTC One m8. This one looks a bit wider and in doubt to buy this or go for galaxy s7 edge.
Any advise please?

I did the same a few weeks ago and got the red one for the same price, great upgrade from my One Max

Surely oneplus5 is better at £450? Newer specs and arguably a better screen. May also be able to get 10% off using student discount.

Other than for listening to music, I would say the S7/S7 Edge is probably a better phone in pretty much all other departments (though Samsung's bloatware can be a bit much).

Cool thanks. I don't listen to music or play games on phone. Just the basics (call, txt, mail, browsing)
If that's the case then I'll go for s7 edge.

I'd happily pay around £500 or so for a new phone, but for one that has been out over a year, I'd expect the price to be less than this!

Doesn't sound like you would use the phone for anything intensive are you? If you are not fuss about brand name, picture quality of camera or audio quality for music, from the practicality side of consideration, may be you could see if you can source a Lenovo P2? It has more than fast enough processor for everyday tasks (Quadcomm Snapdragon 625) and with 4GB ram, and with a FullHD Amoled display and most importantly battery capacity of 5100mah, and only cost around £200! Though you have to be careful that the Chinese version of the phone is lack Band 20 for 4G.

Haha chances of that. Only ever seen 1 other person with the same phone as me , a lot of people dismiss all other brands except from Samsung and Apple which is a shame as lots of the others just get dismissed regardless of how good they are. All about that marketing I guess (constantly see iPhone and Samsung ads everywhere)

I think the difference between us might be that I'm not interested in the S8 so if the pixel 2 isn't what I'm hoping for I'll be looking more towards another HTC or LG

Seems like we have a fan group of HTC one m8 owners in this thread

@thegame999 if you only use it for basic functions why don't you look for something less premium without all the expensive gimicky features?

Thanks guys. It's just a matter of personal preference. Chinese ones could be a let down and because of that I didn't take the s7 edge deal for 25 per mo either.

HTC One m7 and Desire HD best phones ive had. Definitely part of the fan group.

Another HTC m8 fan here (and I had the m7 before that). Love these phones. Just can't bring myself to drop over £500 for the U11, so maybe I'll go for the 10.

They were both released at the same time; HTC even aided in manufacturing the Pixel for Google. There's not a lot of differences, but the main difference is the placement of the fingerprint scanner and overall design- I personally prefer the sturdiness and design of the HTC, but that's down to personal preference.

The Pixel also has a lot of manufacturing flaws. Speaker problems, screen problems, wifi problems. There's a bunch. It also has an OLED display, which means that it will burn an image in to your display if left idle for too long. I'd recommend steering towards the HTC 10, but make your own informed decision c:

I don't own either of these phones, I work for a mobile retailer and handle these devices every day for repairs and troubleshooting.

You're not missing out on much at all. In fact, I prefer the 10 to the U11. the design of the U11 makes it seem so delicate, and it's been tested by to prove that it's one of the least durable phones of the year.

The main features of the U11 are still within the 10, bar the squeezy sides, which, let's be honest, is a gimmick.

Another M8 and HTC fan here! Had the M8 for 3 years, which is unlike me. Such an awesome phone, dropped it so many times and it had been flawless.
Unfortunately I dropped it yesterday and screen smashed but it's still functional.
My last 4 phones have been HTC, not interested in new Samsung or apple offerings. I'm edging towards...
Xiaomi MI A1
Or
Xiaomi MI Mix 2
Unfortunately neither of them are shipping yet. They seem to be the new HTC in my eyes.

I was going to jump on the pixel, although the price and fact that my m8 was still fully functional stopped me.

The HTC 10 is probably the most underrated mobile phone - and possibly the most underrated consumer electronics device - released in the past five years.

It's a mystery why, despite good reviews and, for the time, genuinely premium and new specs, it didn't sell better than it did.

It's also due to get Android Oreo

Worth noting that this price is for the 32GB model. Battery on these lasts about a day on good use, not two days.

Exactly! Not sure why his comment has been added to my description considering it has exactly 0 likes at this point. Are hotukdeals trying to piggy-back eglobalcentral on this post?

Done, thanks!

Surprised it still costs this much but it's an amazing phone. Audio wise there's not many phones that can touch it apart from the LG V series, the G6 Korean model and the Axon 7

Took the plunge and bought the 10, thanks OP
