I do miss the times when HTC phones were on top. My first proper smartphone was HTC M7 and it was great at the time. Unfortunately they will never get back where they should be

Same! I had the Hero, Desire Z, Desire HD and One. The Desire Z and One are still one of my favourite phones.

It's not that bad even wit that 12nm Mediatek proc, camera seems interesting for the price, considering the 6.22' IPS HD+ screen 720 x 1520 px with a 3850 mah battery this might be a good budget winner photofonino with all day battery, actually better than expected if you dig down on specs:

Avoid HTC now, it's dying...
Damn. I used to have a few HTC phones. Anyways this seems rather lacking in terms of specs..

Still use my HTC M8.
Still using my HTC 10
Damn still remember my HTC Desire (had the hero too, my first Android phone), the Desire was the first phone I think I managed to finish the entire duration of the contract without selling it and buying another one - 18 month contract too! They lost their way, too many phones, bad naming scheme and not focusing on what consumers wanted in a flagship (cleaner software, better camera and OLED screen). This looks like it could be one of them sub contracted to Indian OEM name phone.

I agree, had the original HTC Desire which essentially was THE pioneering Android smartphone years ago. HTC phones used to have incredible build quality, I too miss the brand.
my htc one took some of the best photos
google bought most of htc hardware business back in 2018.
google bought some of htc engineering development team and htc licenses.
today's google phone are in fact born mainly from htc.
Great post, very tempted to order one for the Mrs, her G5 is constantly crashing when operating the camera.

Watched an unboxing video, for the money I cant see any major gotcha based on the intended user.

Thanks @MrSwitch I owe you a pint.

I had been toying g with the idea of the A20e from Vodafone but it seems a hassle to get unlocked, this will do nicely.

I disagree, no company has an automatic entitlement to be back at the top. HTC and Nokia had their day, they screwed up and they deserve their place in the smartphone echelons. That's not to say there isn't a certain fondness for some of the awesome creations they made back in the day, but time waits for no one and things have moved on. Keep up with the times or die.
Thanks OP, just ordered one for £91.31 with Revolut

young-uns...

My first smartphone was HTC Himalaya (aka xda2) in 2004, back when most contracts were only for 12 months.

It would seem they still haven't learnt from their catalouge of mistakes.

LG better watch out.

Yes HTC had a great selection of phones back then, on Windows mobile and Android.
let down by the battery
My handset is expected 28th January and has been dispatched.
Just for mine, lol. Didn’t expect such a rapid delivery considering it came from Germany.
Opened mines tonight, 1st point to note, EU charger, doesn't bother us but may annoy some.

Feels a lot more than asking, better than the Moto G5 it replaces but nearly half the price.

Well chuffed.
Now £126, gsm arena said rrp was 280€
