Like a lot of people I have been looking for a good deal on this "must have" phone, O2 have launched today, but their prices seem very high in comparison. This is an exclusive deal for Virgin customers and includes 600 minutes, 3000 texts, and 1gb internet, 24 month contract.

Quidco of £50 also available, bringing net price down to under £23pm.

How many months is the contract for?

24 months

24, 18months is an extra fiver.

Guys, if you're an existing Orange customer, consider negotiating before going for a deal like this. I managed to get the Desire for £15 /month: unlimited tests and data, 200 mins on a 24 month contract - All because I threatened to leave for T-Mobile.

Would recommend the phone, it's fantastic. The Google maps navigation facility alone is worth £15 /month. It makes the Nav. system in my brand new Merc. (that cost me £800) look absolutely rubbish!!!

Is that the tariff your advertising, because:

or is that irrelavent and the 1GB still applies?

when will people learn ring up t-mobile argue with them for 30 mins then ask to speak to a manager i got this phone 300 mins a month, 300 textx (turnd iinto unlimited with add on) 3gb internet a month 24 month contract all for £15 a month.

ps what a great phone but does eat battery even when your not doing much (hungry little ******)

I bought this, no additional charge for internet access, free calls to virgin mobiles and landlines also included (home and partners phone also virgin, so this saves us loads!). Also negotiated same cost for 18month contract, and was the best deal I could find.

When you say you "got" I assume this was a few weeks ago? T-mobile were ridiculously cheap then, but their equivilant now is £25pm + £380 for the phone!

That's the deal, it says "unlimited" but the FUP is actually 1GB, can't see the point of posting "unlimited" as it's not! 1GB should be adequate though.

i got this contract too. free calls too and from virgin landlines were the deal clincher for me.

i see alot of virgin deals get voted cold on here, but im yet to see someone point me to a company that offers a better deal. people vote deals cold because they dont like a company.

my total cost to virgin a month now is £55, which includes:

10mb broadband
phone line which includes free landline calls 24hrs a day + free calls to virgin mobiles
virgin V+HD XL, which includes all channels except movies and sports
a fantastic ondemand service
the ability to record 2 channels, while watching a third.
and the above mentioned mobile contract

anybody fancy posting a link, to some where i can get all that for less.

Yea, just seemed a bit ambiguous stating both on the same page. 1GB is defiantly enough, thank you for clarifying this.

Deedie, that's about the same as us now, must admit, I do feel a bit trapped with Virgin, but at the end of the day, their package is good.

If you go through Quidco to Virgin's site, then mobiles, then existing customers it lets you do it, showed as tracking within about 10 minutes as well.

Dunno why this Is cold - good deal for virgin customers

I think because it's virgin, Just heard that the phone is likely to be unlocked too! I suspect if I had posted it as an unlocked deal for £400 it would have gone hot, but as the deal is + £150 (after quidco) for 2 years minutes etc it goes cold!

right i am with virgin, so i whats the best possible deal i could get for this phone and how much would it work out over the 24months?

thanks

I think the cheapest deals are from £20 (don't forget quidco)

hot!

not bad all things considered.

There is a delivery fee of £4.99.

Just received phone and can confirm that the phone is unbranded and unlocked!

did we confirm this is including internet as the tariff 'title' indicates, or 30p a day extra for internet as the body on the page indicates?

Original Poster

Yes includes "unlimited" internet, the tariff simply shows all options, I have had a text come down, saying "we have added your package of...... unlimited mobile web access"

I'm about to leave T-Mobile as my G1 doesn't work, it takes them 3 weeks to 'fix" and return still knackered. They offered me a Desire for £80 on £35 monthly with unlimited voice calls, unlimited txt and unlimited data. The only extras would be too international and 08* numbers. Apparently it's a tariff that 02 are coming out with as well.

by unbranded, do u mean that there is no virgin stickers etc on the case or that there is no software branding?

i have had mine for a few weeks and there is a virgin splash screen when the phone boots and a virgin profile as default. these are both easily removed from what i hear. dont really care about this anyway, unless i come to sell it. which is very very unlikely anytime soon, as the phone is the business

No stickers logo's or anything, only a small virgin sticker on the original HTC box, I think the Sim card loads a virgin media icon, but currently until they port my number over I am using my o2 sim.
Obviously can't guarnatee they will all be unbranded, but I suspect with supply/demand as it is they do not have time to brand up.

It is unlimited voice calls excluding international and 08* numbers, so mobile-mobile and mobile-standard landline calls are unlimited. A deal that 02 are coming out with as well it seems, I would imagine a few providers will follow suit.

and t-mobile customers pay separately for voicemail!!

If your not interested in this and your a current o2 customer, I just phoned o2 saying im going to cancel my simplicity contract. They offered me a free iPhone 24month contract: £25 - 300 Mins | Unlimited Texts| Unlimited wifi and Internet | - With the chance to change the contract at 9months. So an alternative if you dont want virgin. Its a one day deal, so get on the phone 202.

I had a similar offer, 600 minutes for £28 which i didn't think was bad, these are "recon" ie customer returns etc, but thought the desire is a better phone and £120 less over 2 years.

fyi what u get depends on your usage. mine is low.

was offered 24mth contract: 28/mth for 18 mths then 30 for 6, free white iphone 16GB 3GS
also offered 18mth at 35/mth
can downgrade after 9...

somehow he put me on 18mth contract- 28/mth.

Bummer!! I got all excited for a minute when it said existing Virgin customers, but we are only talking about Virgin MEDIA customers here. Too bad I'm only an existing Virgin Mobile customer.

Looks like it might be possible after all.
