UPDATE: 07/08/2010 :- i just received the phone and confirm that the phone comes branded with O2 and locked to O2 network, but no need to worry you can get the unlock code from ebay as low as £7. Apart of this this comes with 4GB memory. i had booked with quidco and my tracking updated in couple of hours and showing £40 and it will paid in average 2 months.

Was Looking for a Samsung Galaxy Deal, which was unfortunately Expired yesterday anyway I came across this deal is for HTC DESIRE on Dial a Phone, which will be useful to others, details as below

Though the Contract is crap, but the price is good for the phone, compare to other places where it cost £400.

The phone comes free with £20 for 18months on O2 (not sure if the phone comes unlocked), Also you can Downgrade the contract to one level down which will £15, I personally called O2 and confirmed.

As i said the contact is crap you get 100 xnet minutes and unlimited text,

So the deals comes like this

£20x9m = 180
£15x9m= 135

You also get £35 on TCB and £40 Quidco

Total = £ 315 – £40 = £275 (Without the pain of redemption)

You also get free mobile insurance for a month thereafter 6.99 a month and free 1 month gadget help online which can be cancelled any time.

Also incase who are planning the book the phone from dial a phone, can please referal myself, so that i can get referal for this woderfull deal.

HOW YOU CAN REFER?

The phone is locked to O2, but can be unlocked fairly easily.

is there any data usage included with this does anyone know??

I don't think the DAP offer includes the smartphone tariff. Think they give you standard tariff instead which doesn't include data allowance, though you can get a Bolt-on for £5 (500mb)

Looked at the O2 site and it's £30 for 100mins unl txt and 500mb Data.

BTW, that offer plus a £5 bolt-on is still cheaper than buying the phone offline or going the the equivalent O2 smartphone tariff is seems.

o2 bolt on is usually a tenner

Again, like the Galaxy deal, this is about the phone rather than the tariff. If it's an unlocked version it's certainly a cracking deal. The risk is that you could get a great unlocked phone and stick your data sim card in it or you could get a phone stuck on O2!!! (I know! Some people do use O2) Then again you can always send it back.. "It's the wong shade of brown.........."

Please post if anyone finds out if this is unlocked.

it's been £5 for ages

Good deal simply because it doesn't involve much work. (By this, I mean the whole redemption thing.)

O2 dont lock phones other than the iphone do they?.

in my experience redemption hasn't been any hassle for me anyway

are you sure this doesn't include any internet usage? surely they do for these kind of smartphones. Anyway, does anyone think this is a misprice, I mean its dirt cheap

This seems to imply it's only a fiver if your contract is £30 or above on an 18 month contract, or £20 a month on an 24 month contract.

Since this is a 24 month contract at £20, I'd assume data is going to cost £10. If that's the case using another sim in the phone might work out cheaper.

anyone who does this and doesn't get a data bolt on will be in for a shock when their first bill comes in

Doesn't mention anything about a data plan on any of the deals with the HTC Desire on '02'

Definitely doesn't have any data usage on this contract - it really is the basic, standard O2 18 month 20pm contract, which is ust 100 minutes, unlimited texts. When you downgrade at month 9, you will then be paying £15pm for 50 minutes and unlimited texts. The phone is a free gift from Dial-A-Phone for taking out the O2 contract through them. It's not a misprice.

Cracking deal for the phone, just like the Samsung Galaxy S deal...and Froyo's out for the Desire now, too!

The web bolt-on is £10 for this particular tariff. It drops to £5 on the O2 300 tariff. This is the O2 100 tariff:

Click "Pay Monthly Tariffs" and you'll see the price there.

Do you get a MicroSD card with this deal? Thanks

Quite correct - good spot. Also data bolt on not available on £15 tariff!

haq

no microsd

Damn I thought they all came with a 4GB microsd card, glad I asked! Thanks

The following should also apply according to their site - All UK Data Bolt Ons have unlimited data until 30 September 2010

galaxy has no flash on the CAMERA, no good for people who have a life and go out at night. Desire all the way, awaiting the 2.2 upgrade on 3. desire rocks.

Which one is better Samsung Galaxy S or htc desire?

we all really want iphone 4,lets just have an iphone.....these wont work with my zeppelin so its iphone again for me next week

Shop around you will get better deals, just expired but i got the phone free, £24/month, 600xnet, 500txt , unlimited web (phone near useless without this) T-mobile, the only issue is 24 months, but time flies and already gone 4 months into it. This phone is a most awesome upgrade ...well blew my former Nokia N96 completely outa the water.

..and to compare against new iphone this package would be excellent value for money

yes but 2.2 is out now, my desire on o2 will let me update now but not bothered yet

Can unlimited text be replaced with a data bolt on?

It now also now records in 720p after the 2.2 update . Fantastic phone .

Make sure you get a data package as this phone is an "internet phone" and requires access as soon as you turn it on.
I've had the htc G1 for a few years and it's never off the net, I am posting this msg from it actually.

Hi cant find the deal only 24 months and £25 a month think this may have expired

SORRY found it at the bottom must get some new glasses!!!!!
How do you get this never used tem before
You also get £35 on TCB and £40 Quidco
thanks in advance Malcolm

I disagree. I've had both and the quality of the Galaxy S is way superior. Graphics are better, it's quicker (GPU onboard) and the swype keyboard is far superior. Shedloads more inbuilt memory and so on.

But then this is the question that's been around the net for the last few weeks. Every different review sees it differently.

hot price for a cracking phone. might even get lucky and get an unbranded handset, in which case instant update to froyo!

Thats a long contract when a new breed of phones will be out in a few months, including the desire hd

Nope, you can't.

Absolutely awesome phone, have had mine for a couple of weeks now on 3, and am so glad I didn't get a fruit based phone, most of my iphone (3gs) owning friends were well impressed with it. The only downside is that it really eats up battery and needs to be charged EVERY DAY. You can easily turn wi-fi on and off to save data usage. MAke sure you download the advanced app killer - this helps to reduce battery usage and makes sure it continues to run smoothly

Thats true but not for this price, and i dont think people are going to even use the sim..
