Sorry, but this is £399.99 from Amazon directly, the price you quote is from 'PrepayWizard'.

A better price than it used to be, so good spot, but it's getting a little too old to pay £400 for (been on Amazon nearly 6 months).

* I think I'll wait for the next batch of hi-res, dual-core, battery-slaughtering handsets to come out - but that's just me.

I didn't think the HD became available until end of Oct / early Nov (which makes it only a couple of months old - hardly long in the tooth)

true the HTC Desire HD is only about 3 months on the market and is one of the most powerful smartphones on the market.

sure like artie said you can wait but if you keep waiting for the latest tech you will never invest. if you are after a top end phone now than this is one of the best out there !!!

just watch the battery... doesn't last a day with fairly heavy use

HELP wot will I go for this or iphone 3gs this will be my first smartphone really only want for ebay an facebook thanks

True, I take your point - I guess I was thinking of the time I was originally going to order one of these - back in October - but I'd been thinking about it since it was first announced (and always on pre-order).

But the problems with availability (and my procrastination:)) meant that by the time it did become available, it didn't seem worth getting if newer kit was on the horizon (even if it wasn't announced - you know how these things go).

I think it's a great phone, and a better price, but I think I've moved on, so getting one now couldn't be anything but 'settling' for me (no matter how good it is) - I probably could have put it better the first time.
You are right about always waiting for the next big thing though

Hope you enjoy it.

If you're not concerned about size or power, I'd also suggest looking at this one's little brother, the HTC Desire, which is sixty odd quid cheaper on Amazon and it's battery will (anecdotally) last longer between charges. The Desire was highly recommended a month or so ago by PC Pro, over the HD, for those reasons.

I have an iPhone 3G (non-S), and given the choice now, I'd get this or the standard Desire, but I like control. The 3GS is a very good phone if you can live with the restrictions that come along with all the good stuff.

Second hand HD2 for about £150, 30 mins and some ROM flashing and you have a fully functional Desire HD for less than half price. Or Gingerbread Android. Or Windows Phone 7. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you know your way around a pc and phones it's worth trying before spending £400!
