Dial-A-Phone are currently offering the HTC Desire Z on an O2 tariff. Free phone and £20.42 monthly for 18 months. Works out at £367 total. This is cheaper than buying SIM Free.

Contract gives 100 mins and unlimited texts but no data so no good to use with the handset. Look on it as an interest free loan or give the SIM to a relative to use and diary to cancel at month 17.

And at the moment Quidco are offering £65 cashback on HTC Desire/Desire Z connections with Dial-A-Phone.

Rodman has posted that you can downgrade the tariff after 9 months. Cheapest O2 tariff on an 18 month contract is £15.32. So potentially you would pay:

9 Months @ £20.42 = £183.78
9 Months @ £15.32 = £137.88
Less £65 Quidco makes a total of £256.66

Dial-A-Phone handsets always seem to be sim free. You get 7 days to return it if it turned out not to be the case.

anhf has just got his/her handset and confirms it is UNLOCKED/SIM FREE

Total cost if you don't change the tariff after 9 months works out at £367, £302 if Quidco pays out.

You should really give some details of the contract

100 mins unlimited texts but no data huh

Yes good point. Have edited the OP.

You get 100 mins and unlimited texts but no data so tariff not really good for this handset unless you are happy for Wifi Data or a data add on. However it is as good as an interest free loan and the SIM could be used by a relative. My Neice burns through texts but hardly makes calls and doesn't have a smartphone so this tariff would be ideal for her.

data costs a maximum of £1 (100mb) for 24 hours on this tariff so it's not too bad for occasional use or if you use WiFi.

hhmmm.....tempting offer. thanks.

Great deal for a great phone!! I would have gone for this had I not bought my Z sim free just before Christmas to go with my t-mobile sim contract. The O2 sim would be great to put into a spare phone for mass texting when required. £302 would be an absolute steal for this phone.

You can downgrade tariff after 9 months to £15 a month

( £20.42 x 9 ) + ( £15 x 9 ) - £65 (cashback) = £253.78

Thats is good deal!

seems strangely yempting (for the price of the phone I mean) to use own sim... hmm

I've read some reviews stating that the keyboard is lose. Can anyone comment on that issue?

Very good offer. Better than sim free but with a 100 min + text sim thrown in, to use or pass on to close relative etc. Tempted, but I have an android phone already, still love the HTC overlay - better implemented than samsung and motorola

I wouldn't recommend getting this phone without data..

Does this deffo come SIM FREE and not O2 locked?

Also - what's the process for cancelling the insurance and gadget line thing which D-a-P force you to take up on trial for the first month?

Also, TopCashBack are doing £65.65 at the moment :-)

awesome deal....! heats up!!!

it is locked to O2
You need to contact them to unlock the device for free.

Is it just a case of giving them the IMEI? Can it be done straight away & online?

So, excuse my ignorance of all things technical, I can use this to download anything and everything I want for free (Market Place) provided I use my wifi connection at home?

Yes - you only pay for 3G data usage.

I bought one on release day, and would never get one without a data tariff.
I regularly go through 4-600mb a month on mine.

To answer Blasphemous, the hinge isn't loose, and it's a completely solid build.

Ooo was looking at the wildfire the otherday but might go for this

also im pretty sure the o2 100 comes with a free 500mb of data,

which.co.uk/mob…ct/

change to 18month then scroll down a few offers & there it is

Am I not reading this right? Redemption in 5 installments for the "free months"? Seems a lot of hassleif it is, sorry.

Dolphin 30 offer at 23.83 seems better as it has the data with it?

Thats what I thought too.

If it's O2 locked, you can still use it with a Tesco Mobile SIM. 500 minutes, 3000 texts, 'unlimited' data, £10/month.

Vodafone Sim only £20 per month has £110 quidco, put that it in! (that comes with 600mins, Unlimited Texts and 500mb of data i think?)
or indeed just go with the tesco deal as stated above by CuriousTurtle.
Plenty of options so a great deal, esp if you can make use of the 100mins and unlimited texts!

Errm, NO! You obviously cannot download 'anything and everything' you want for 'free'. If it's a 'free' app then yes of course you can but then I could do that on my PC and that's not an android device.

I think you are looking at the first offer in the list. Look at the second one, £20.42 monthly.

Yes probably. I am tied in to T-Mob for another 9 months so was just looking for the cheapest way to get the handset on a monthly tariff. The other tariffs all require a redemption process to get the monthly rental down to what they quote so as long as you are good at remembering to submit the relevant paperwork then that could be a good deal.

write down the times and dates of your attempts to call and email and then phone credit card company to do a chargeback; also worth calling the office of fair trading about them?

merchants hate chargebacks as if it can cost them a processing fee and if they get too many it causes them issuers with their bank

bargain price. hot thanks
