HTC One, Free phone, 18mths Orange contract, £36pm (£150 auto cashback = £27.66pm) @ Phones4U

Found 8th May 2013
Orange Panther 41 - 600mins, unlimited txts, 1Gb data, 2 Swapables (Sky Sports TV, Deezer etc, which do not use your data allowance)

Under 24's get an extra 1Gb monthly allowance and unlimited Orange/T-Mobile calls for free via Orange's U24 offer.

Call the P4U number (0800 072 5855) and mention the TCB £101 cashback offer on the above tariff and that you have a friend who has got this deal off them direct with £150 cashback. They should offer you the same £150 automatic cashback (direct to bank account 42 days after start date).

The tariff is pretty good and an 18mths contract is a bonus too, because you can typically half your tariff costs and increase your allowances when out of contract (bear that in mind when comparing with 24mth contracts).

At £27.66pm over 18mths, with no redemptions, this seems to be the best HTC One deal right now.

TopCashBack £101 cashback offer ends in 3 days, so I'm not sure if they will still offer this over the phone after that point, but you could try playing them off against another company, as there's always one offering high cashback.

Phone review:

techradar.com/rev…/14

"As we said, this is the best HTC phone ever, without a doubt. But we'll go one better than that: it's the best phone on the market full stop. The Samsung Galaxy S4 isn't far behind at all with its stunning screen and rich detail, but for sheer level of functionality, innovation and just overall effect it has in the hand, we can't help but recommend the HTC One to anyone looking to buy a new smartphone."

MrGamer1231:
I can confirm I also got £150 cashback. If someone else is going to get this deal all you have to say is your friend got £150 cashback. Thats all it took from me and they guy spoke to his manager and agreed.

Just phoned up and ordered the phone.
Charlotte, the customer service advisor, had no problem with me mentioning this thread and accepting the £150 cashback offer - she did say a lot of people were mentioning HUKD's today(_;)

Best phone on the market bar none and a good price.
Looks hot to me. Dilemma I have is do I want capped at 1gb of data on a new state of the art phone.

Anyone know if sky sports is taken from the data allowance?

Fair point and I wasn't sure either, but apparently you can take advantage of Orange U24 offer, which gives unlimited Orange to Orange/T-Mobile calls and an extra 1Gb of data pm. It's free (you just call up Orange) and apparently if you're over 24, then you just say the phones for your kid (whether you have any or not!) and they'll still apply the offer.

Regarding Sky Sport, I've just found this info but it's from 2011 so not sure how accurate:

You can use it over WiFiThe quality of the picture is poor and very … You can use it over WiFiThe quality of the picture is poor and very jerkyI have never managed to watch more than 90 seconds of football before it bombs out. It can take another minute to cache and start playing again.I was told the TV does NOT come out of your allowance but there is a 3Gb limit per month. After 3Gb you would be charged at normal rates. You get no email or indication once your 3Gb has run out.Nobody could tell me how many hours of TV you get in your 3Gb limit.Basically, I've found the service rarely works and when it does the picture is so bad it is not worth watching.

Have you read the description? You have to ring them.
1gb of data goes pretty quick but I'm sure they have been counting the data I use for Deezer as my swappable when they should not be.

Cheers Spacehduk, 2gb of data makes this much more appealing. As i'm a bit past the U24 category (good bit past), this one is for the boy then.......even tho he's 3 years old

Also, anyone any experience of using the Sky Sports swappable. Some people i know have had problem with it and another has had no issues at all.
Why would they try and best their own deal oO?

I've been doing more searching on the U24 offer - the T&C's say that the phone has to be in the name of the U24 (which shouldn't be a problem if you're U24 or you have a kids, as the account holder does not have to be the named phone owner, but some people are saying that they had to go into an EE store with proof of age to have the U24 offer added. Be aware of the T&C's if you go for this based on getting the U24 offer.

TCB, Quidco etc are not charities. They get a nice cut on top of whatever cashback you get, so P4U are just giving you the total amount (or probably a bit less) direct to you.
Edited by: "Spacehduk" 8th May 2013
Typical, I ordered this from Phones4U via TCB not 10 minutes before this deal was posted... oh well, hot all the same. Guess I'll have to cross my fingers and hope the TCB goes through.

The swappables don't come out of your data allowance.

They also work via wi-fi once you have your sim verified.

Quality of sky-sports is fairly poor. Watchable usually, but don't be expecting a crystal clear image.

For the other swapable I would recommend Deezer - it is literally fantastic. The fact it is a freebie is just incredible!

In my view it is not the best because it is flawed. As one individual put it, its the iPhone of Android (i.e. looks pretty, works well but not much depth to it beyond that).

After having experienced a phone without a memory card slot and no removable battery (Nexus 4) I hold the S4 and Note 2 to be the best phones out there. I really, really like the HTC One and am on the verge of buying it, I just need those requirements mentioned hence I will most likely go for the others.
Total price should be the amount before any cashback.

It's a design choice really - lower cost and a slimmer phone against a few lost sales from those who need more than 32Gb of storage and who like to replace their phone batteries.

I'm sure HTC doesn't mind losing a few sales if you're one of the few people in the second group.

As soon as I read this bit, I knew straight away that you'd never owned one.....

Read the reviews and you'll see that this is the best phone out right now, even better than the S4 (Samsung fan boys won't like that though)

I used to think like you, that I'd never buy a phone without an SD slot and removable battery, then I got my HTC One after remembering that I never put more than 16gb memory card in my old phone plus 8gb onboard = less than the 32gb in my One. As for battery - never bought a spare before so why worry about it now? plus the battery on this is way better than my previous phones.

as for the deal, not the cheapest it's been, mine is 22 a month for 18 months but that deal has ended now so this is probably best for now if you can't wait. voting hit anyway for great phone at reasonable rate.
By the way, Samsung won't allow you to store apps on SD card...so it's pretty useless, or you have to hack it.........and it looks exactly the same like my S3.........Samsung needs to step up with design, don't become iPhone X then iPhone XS, that kind of rubbish.....look the same with some internal upgrade and better screen...bla bla bla, I want a phone with new design, not just upgrade.......

I use Sky sports regularly and I generally find the quality reasonable depending on 3g reception(love to see what difference 4g will make). on wifi pretty perfect picture (S2) The swapables don't come off your monthly allowance although you need to watch out, sometimes mine does seem to but a quick call and they re credit the account, they actually stuck an extra 0.5gb on my account to save the calls. I find Deezer though an exceptional swapable and well worth sticking with orange for.

£22 a month insane good deal!
In my experience, the Sky Sports swappable was very poor. Never once did I get a decent picture and I'd rarely get more than 2 or 3 minutes strung together. This is on a Galaxy S3 and my signal was always showing as H or H+, as good as it gets in the 3G world I believe.
Put it this way, it's a handy bonus to have and to flick on to if you're being dragged round shops or want to know briefly how a team is doing etc, but don't let the swappable be a deal breaker or rely on it as your main source for watching sports or you'll be very disappointed.

On the other hand, Deezer is brilliant, gets most new music very quickly and even has some obscure old stuff too. Saved me paying £10 a month for Spotify anyway.
Compared to the quality of say tvcatchup, Sky Sports (even on wifi) is pretty crap imo.

Where? Theres been a few deals that are close, but they usually involve multiple redemptions throughout the last 12 months of the contract. Others are 24 month contracts or terrible tariffs. Others have been upgrade deals.

Post a link to these much cheaper deals so we can actually see what was involved. I've been watching HTC One deals for the last couple of months - this is the one I finally went for because there's no catch.

Bear in mind when comparing 18mth and 24mth contracts, you can usually half your tariff cost AND increase your inclusive package if you threaten to leave at the end of the contract, so when comparing the two you should account for the big savings you can make when the 18mth contract ends.

£101 for all HTC and Galaxy S4 contracts for the next 3 days.
Despite its awesome reviews I'm never getting a HTC again after owning a HTC Sensation which also got half decent reviews for it's time... Worst built phone ever. There is no longevity in its quality. Half the HTC One owners in a year's time will have a laggy, unstable, faulty mobile. I can't sleep when mine is on charge because it makes such a loud **** noise. The speakers have gone weird on phonecalls. I've never damaged the phone or anything its purely tacky quality. Call it what you want out of the box but I bet my money its made of garbage quality tech that looks good on paper.

If HTC do think like that its probably the reason why they have lost so many sales to Samsung. Can't beat the practicality of having a spare battery when you're out and about.

Wrong, I had one for the weekend and I previously went through written and video reviews. Friends at work have them so I had plenty of access to one.

The most beautiful phone out there hands down (one thing though - strangely it felt long, like a remote control (you'll understand if you've went from an iPhone 4S to a 5).

I travel around a lot and keep a lot of audio and video with me. I currently use my tablet as it has 32GB on-board and another 2x 32GB via micro SD cards. The amount of times I have bee stuck outside without a charging point (both phone and tablet) has been numerous. I never had this problem with previous phones (e.g. SGS2), but of course that's just my personal situation.

Some people (like the wife) can get by on 8GB storage, where as other can easily fill up 32GB. I guess if I could get a 64GB HTC One I would be closer to getting it. But the battery is such a decisive factor in my particular situation.

I can't say I'm a fan of the S4 or Note 2 but for my circumstances they are more practical and will probably hold their value better in the long-term (something HTC's never seem to do).

HTC keep releasing newer models too close to each other, dragging the value of the previous flagship model down to rock bottom in far too short a space of time.
This phone is a S4 killer, this is Android at its best.

Nicely made phone, a real feeling of quality that lacks in so many android devices. But for me, HTC have a poor record of software upgrades, the One is running 4.1 which is nearly 1 year old.

Just the deal i've been waiting for ordered & got the £125 cashback after some light persuasion...now how the hell do i get an extra £50 cashback after i get the phone??

God you hotdealers are good! Thanks & plenty heat
Hot deal, but 1GB data is going to go really fast!
people commenting on the HTC One quality etc really should own one for a week before opening their mouthes.

it is hands down the best phone on the market right now. The screen quality and speakers alone blow the competition into the weeds.

Sense 5 is amazing. The Blinkfeed and Zoe features are such good extras that really make the One stand out amongst the crowd.

I've had the Desire and the Sensation XE before this and I was looking for a change but the One really was so much better than the Xperia Z, Nexus 4 and the S4 that I had to go for it.
Is this locked to orange, or does nobody know? Apologies if this has already been mentioned but I cant see it in the thread. Ta
