If you fancy a flagship spec-d phone from last year, at a hugely cut down price and slightly different from the usual run of the mill phones, this is an interesting proposition...

The HTC U Ultra was a bit of a sales flop last year, as they were demanding a flagship price of £700+ at release, plus also if didn't bring much innovation to the market lacking the bezel-less design with the 18:9 screen ratio and the wireless charging other phones were beginning to introduce.

However since the huge price drops the phone is getting some pretty good reviews, as people mention the camera is very good and the glass design is beautiful. Also with the current specs it is probably one of the most powerful phones you can get for the price.

HTC have finally released Android Oreo to the phone, and in some of the latest reviews people say this has made further improvements to the performance and battery of the phone.

Checking the specs on their website, it also appears to work on all UK networks.

The phone is marked as £204.99, but if you use voucher code "JBUY599" you will get £5.99 off the price, to bring to £199 and also the opportunity for 2% Cashback from Quidco.

E-Global are a bit of a marmite company on HUKD, but personally never had any issues. They seem a lot speedier than other Chinese companies and usually get the phone in around a week, also customs does not seem to be an issue with E-Global either from my experience with the item being sent from Ireland or within the EU. But can't guarantee this is the case all the time.

If you want to protect yourself, buy the phone using a credit card and you are protected under the Consumer Credit Act, if the phone does not arrive or if E-Global fail to honor the warranty.

Specs
- Qualcomm™ Snapdragon™ 821, 64 bit quad-core, up to 2.15 Ghz
- 64 GB, 4 GB RAM, microSD
- 5.7 inch super LCD Display, 2560 x 1440, 513ppi
- 12MP (HTC UltraPixel™ 2 with 1.55μm pixel) Rear Camera
- 16MP, with HTC UltraPixel™ mode Front Camera
- Dual Nano SIM
- Wi-Fi®: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz)
- HTC Usonic Headphones
- 3000 mAh
- Android™ 7.0 with HTC Sense™

***UPDATE***
PRICE HAS DROPPED ON THEIR WEBSITE TO £192.99 FROM £204.99 OVERNIGHT...
As the price has now dropped below the £200 mark, the "JBUY599" discount code will not work. But even without the code is is still £6 cheaper.

Yeah state the obvious that doesn't mean its good build qaulity lol

What does 'bad' build quality mean?

I've dropped mine several times. not broken
I always have it in my back pocket. it's not bent
nothing has fallen off, nothing has stopped working.

You don't own one and have just put a video up.
I own one and think the build quality is great.

Obvious enough for you?

HTC phones are underated when you consider the price.just got htc 10 Evo off eglobal for 103 pounds.beautiful phone waterproof to running Snapdragon 810 fine and I believe it's also due Oreo soon.imagine if the reviews reviewed it at just over 100 pound they would've been saying amazing things about it
I have the U Ultra, It's a great piece of kit and a bargain for under £200 - heat

Wow, sounds impressive!

Not heard of this phone, but just looking at some reviews and it sounds amazing for the price! You should post on HUKD and get some heat.

Can you use Android Pay on it?

As with the HTC U Utlra, in typical HTC style it has a few pitfalls, but when at £105, they are things you can accept and live with!

This review might help, but bear in mind they are reviewing it as a £650 phone at the time.

It's started rolling out in parts of Europe a couple of days ago, so hopefully not too much longer.....
I recently bought one and it's a cracking phone for the money, seriously consider it if in your price range. I have come from Xioami and this is the first 'flagship' phone I've bought. Usually I pay 100-150 for my phones so really pushed the boat out in buying this!!!!!

Cons:
Battery life not great, but it charges quickly so not a massive deal to me
HTC Sense a little annoying and I can't seem to deactivate it to save on battery usage
It's fairly big in the hand and in jeans pocket, but doesn't feel big when you use it
no audio jack, which is a pain if you have some nice headphones, and they don't supply a converter

Pros:
Camera is excellent, you can't get near it for this price
Oreo 8, if you want it
Screen is great, nice and big and bright
Handy 2nd screen, I can do stuff without having to unlock the phone
Headphones supplied are pretty decent

I bought a converter from HTC - join the club and it'll cost like 17 quid or something.£5.95 (my memory is bad)
I also got a Bluetooth receiver to plug my 'good' headphones into so I can charge it AND listen to music. The battery life is waaaaay better than my Z5

Dual Sim yeah, actually not overly impressed with Oreo as yet, not sure if it's how the phone handles it or just Oreo? The 2nd screen does 'crash' occasionally but not sure if it's in a 'settling in' period or not. I didn't use the phone much prior to updating to Oreo so it's hard to compare. It does get warm when I have in car with navigation, spotify playing and bluetooth'd to car and charging, but other phones I've owned have been similar. The battery isn't it's best feature and if you're a hard user of a phone i.e. gaming or anything processor intensive, I'd imagine you'd need a power source to hand if you want to get a full day out of it.

Using the AccuBattery app today I've drained 40% of battery with 22% SOT, 1.4% screen off and 7.8% Combined use? It says Maps 10.3%, Sense Home(damn you) 5.1%.. I have about a 45 min car journey to work and had maps on all the way. So assuming I don't charge and use maps on the way home I'll have about 15-20% left when i get home (I only charge to about 80% as recommended by AccuBattery)

Just to let you guys know eGlobal import phones from overseas your phone will likely come with a chinese rom, it's no biggy its just something to remember if you get a fault as most manufactures of phones in the UK won't repair or touch a oversea phone even if it's the same manufacture the warranty doesn't transfer country to country.

Also eGlobalCentral do something dodgy with customs relating to tax so you don't have to pay I.E declairing wrong things.

Sure it's a great price but comes with risks.

I posted the last deal on this, cracking phone. It doesn't overheat and camera is amazing.

The one and only con for me if the size cause I'm a little fella, but if you like a big phone look no further.
JBUY599 isn't working. Says not valid. Any thoughts?

What if I 'owned' one?
I bought the blue HTC u ultra from eglobal Centraluk about two months ago for £219 and its a great phone. Build quality, screen, speed all great for the price. Was a bit worried about ordering from the company as there was quite a lot of negative comments, but paid the £6 insurance and got tracking information. Dispatch and delivery took longer than expected (3weeks I think) but got email and text from dpd about delivery.

Dual sim, no lags depends how much load you put on SD821 chipset obviously. What do you mean by battery problems, why would there be on a new device? there are lots of complaints everywhere.

After the Oreo update.

don't know I bought it and downloaded oreo within couple of days, excellent with oreo update. Better than my LG G6 and on par with ONEPLUS 5T.
I'm typing from my ultra.i received the phone yesterday after ordering the Thursday evening, 6 days, great service.
Updated to Oreo without a hitch. My partners ultra hasn't as of yet.
It was Chinese out of the box, quick flick to English, all done.
After Samsung's, LG's & Huawei's I'm glad to be back to HTC.
This is an absolute bargain of a deal if you want a big phone, great camera and speedy response.
