Not sure if this has been posted already and yes it's expensive but this is the cheapest I've seen it so far and seems a fantastic deal for what it is

Just get the Index when it's in stock. You will be much more happy with it.

If I wanted to spend this kind of money on a VR solution at this point in time I'd get a Valve Index.

If I wanted 80% of the same quality/experience for less than half the price I'd go for a Rift S or even a Quest and just use Link.

I personally went with a Quest despite having a GTX 1080 gaming PC and couldn't be happier with it.

The 'wand' controllers are utter
Great saving for the best VR system!

really tempting but i think i will pass and wait for a headset with bigger FOV. hate how it make you feel you looking though a gas mask or something

'system', so it Includes the PC as well Cant tell that from the picture, bargain if it does.
It is expensive compared to PSVR you can get the HDR pass through with the Aim gun and two wands for around £300 so this is over half more expensive!

It's insane to me how expensive VR headsets are still. The Vive is reaching 4 years old now and the (visual)tech now isn't much better yet we still have prices like this. For technology it's moving very slow specs and price wise. I figured it would drop quite fast especially since the biggest cost must be the 2 screens in them, and phone screens have advanced so fast while dropping in price quite quick over the past 6 years. I just want the standard Vive to be £300 already, or at least the pro version kit be £600.

I'm sorry to say this but HTC has been dead for at least 4 years and nothing will help this company, so better to not touch any of their products

VR is what you make of it.

I'd rather VR now than when I'm dead

If this was a base station 2.0 bundle it would be an ok price at this stage
but I bought original Vive bundle on launch for £800ish including the same base stations and controllers head the headset is a decent upgrade comparatively but anyone spending this amount in 2019/20 should be getting an Index with Knuckles

i already got a VR headset, albeit not a great one, just a wmr headset which has same FOV as this one, so i am not going to spend 800 on something that bugs me so much
Great headset and FOV is incidental when used with a top end GPU and sufficient back end system. Controllers not as slick as Oculus but not a bad compromise. At this price point I’d be tempted to wait for the new Oculus kit due soon.

Great price, shame they don't have the vive Pro headset on its own as I don't need the base station or controllers.

Nope. Go do your homework and catch up with the dev program info plus roadmap for 2020.

Yeap, sell them and put the cash to the knuckle controllers seeing as the vive and base stations as all compatible.....i am just waiting for them to appear in stock again.

I've got to agree with powerbrick here.

Define soon?

Also provide a link to back up your statement.

Have you tried a Quest?

After tripping over a wire and trying to accept the horrible PSVR controllers and tracking I got a Quest and it's been an absolute blast.

There's a really good hombrew/beta community and innovations are being realised and released on an almost weekly basis.

I'm currently looking into using a hand tracking app to learn piano on Quest. No controllers required. This is only possible on Quest at this point in time.

That's just the very smallest tip of the iceberg.

can you play pc vr games with the quest?
AmFearLiathMòr26/12/2019 09:24

Yes.I do on my GTX 1080 based PC.Via Oculus Link

does it work for gear vr too?
Completely irrelevant product as a bundle. Rift S a far better product and experience at less than half the price and if not wanting to go the Oculus root, Index is considerably superior to the Valve Pro in almost every way.

That looks like it uses a cable though? Just checking when you said you disliked VR systems with a cable.

The Quest is a standalone mobile VR HMD. It doesn't require any wires during play Quest native games. You can also stream PCVR games to it via various different apps. Again totally wires free.

For those who wish to use Link it's an option.

I do use Link for some games where movement isn't key but generally prefer not to.
