with oculus link being announced I don't see why anyone would choose anything other than the quest unless money is irrelevant then surely you would choose an index over this

Because the quest sucks? 70hz? ROFL. Get 144hz with index.
The Index is well worth the difference in price, for an extra 70 quid you get newer base stations, better controllers and a proper next gen headset.

I wouldn't say it sucks, 72Hz isn't great, but I can very much see it being modded to enable 90Hz at some point either officially or unofficially. At 90Hz its an upgrade slightly to the OG vive and way better all round in comparison given everything it does. Personally I'll be upgrading to an Index, but if the link is sufficiently good even I could be tempted to get a quest.
Not too bad at all, i have been won over by the Vive product of late seeing as I just dumped everything Oculus after they last month pulled accessory support for the Rift CV1, basically killing the headset stone dead if say the cable develops a fault or the earphone stop working, i mean they make a proprietary cable then remove it from sale, basically turning the entire unit into a £400 paper weight if that one cable fails, so i found a Vive bundle just before it was completly disconntinued and grabbed it on sale for £380, and i now see the Vive is heads and shoulders above what i thought the CV1 was doing, i had no idea that the god ray smearing that my CV1 does was only this bad on the CV1, the Vive has god rays but they come across more like lens flare, and the bigger FOV is fantastic, as is the perfect lighthouse tracking.....so for less than any oculus VR products i eventually got a Vive, and into the bargin i now have the basestation ready if and when i decided to grab either a vive pro, index or pimax.....so next year i will look at getting Vive Pro headset for about £300.

its weird that they've done this. I just had oculus support send me a replacement cable for my 2 year old rift for free after asking if i could buy one. Try contacting them for a spare and see if they help u. i told them my cable was really kinked and was dropping signal

Most people agree that the Vive controllers are the worst of the three
I wouldn't buy this package due to the controllers. Index also has higher refresh rate and wider FOV.

Too late, i dumped every Oculus as in no way am i supporting a company that thinks killing a 3 plus year old vr headset is a viable consumer option, because if i had wanted that type of control over devices i buy and own then i would be sitting with apple products, so i just dumped Oculus period......grabbed a vive, well happy with it, oh and i grabbed a spare vive cable for it also.....34 quid.........oculus cable when they were selling it, 140 quid.......no brainer.......plus the rumor is everythng cv1 will be removed soon to follow the cable and earphone, so that will be the motion controllers, remote control and face shield, basically the cv1 will follow the Gearvr which eas also dropped this year.

72Hz vs the 90Hz of this pro headset at more than twice the price with far worse controllers. the quest works anywhere without sensors or a pc and from next month can be used as a full rift with a single cable. but if you want the best pc headset then I think you would be crazy to get this and not the index as I said in the comment you replied to.

Just curious what you're referring to - the replacement CV1 cables maybe?
Yeap, oculus proprietary accessories being the replacement cv1 cable and earphones that Oculus just last month quietly stop selling and making, so if you are out of warrenty and either of those fail your entire headset becomes a 400 quid paperweight..........and oculus response to this was just buy a Rift S.....yeah sure thing Oculus, i will get right on that.
