Annoyed as I bought two from carphone warehouse recently - @ £120 which I thought was a fantastic price. Could've saved £40 had I waited a couple weeks...

Appears to include £10 top-up as "xmas gift" from phones4u.

I can't say for absolute certain, but I believe the phones will be unlocked. Source.

beezer deal
I just bought the Blackberry for £99.95 yesterday via upgrade
Good price.

Might want to change the picture to avoid confusion - picture is of the older standard Wildfire (the newer Wildfire S doesn't have the Trackball).
What does this have that the San Francisco II doesn't?
Thinking of buying one for my daughter for Xmas.
Thanks Stuart - serves me right for being lazy in my image search!
Now updated.

Out of the two, the SF2 has better specs (processor, resolution). Both have Adreno 200 GPU and 5mp camera. So for me, the SF2 is the better option

I'm sure the wildfire has 10x better build quality ..... The old OSF was shocking ! It's impossible for me to find a screen aswell so it = £110 down the drain for only a few months use !

Quick ebay search = plenty of lcd screens ! I wish i brought the older wildfire over the OSF as at least now i would have a ok phone !

used it, very good
HTC Wildfire S vs HTC Explorer ?

any views ? (seems wildfire has better camera but explorer has slightly fast processor)

thanks
Explorer is newer, has Sense 3.5

thanks

but does wildfire S get this upgrade ?
Will this perform as good as the xperia play?
imo san francisco miles better, especially when running upgraded androids and rooted. Build quality seems fine to me, just dont break the lcd display. Other con is camera is 3.2mp and no flash.
I wouldnt bother as i have this phone and it's awful, phone app regularly crashes when receiving a call, good offer, but i would avoid going by my experience with the handset.
i have this phone and love it bargain at this price

Unlikely to see it officially.
Amazing little smarphone.

Battery actually lasts 2-3 days instead of 1-1.5 days of most larger more powerful handsets.

Perfect if you want a phone with smartphone features, not so if you want to brag down the pub.
great phone. initially i didnt want a smartphone but now i probably wouldnt be able to live without it. with my unlimited internet contract, the wifi router this can provide is amazing to tether to my laptop on the train or bus
I got one for £119.00 plus £10 top-up from Phones4u. Good price for an UNLOCKED phone with 3-months free wi-fi and £10 x-mas surprise top-up. couldn't get any lesser coz they said for the £99.95 offer, we have to be on Payg for minimum 6 months.

Otherwise this is a great little phone!
payg upgrade; you have to hand in an old phone?
Anyone know where i can get a san fran 2 please?? unlocked would be good

No. You just need an active sim which has to have been activated for at least 6 months on whatever network you want the phone on.
great little phone and a perfect xmas gift. i got mine last xmas.
Surely its much wiser to spend the extra £50 and get the Xperia Play? As it is a far, far superior phone. Although bulky.
What's this like for older folk with bad eyesight? Can the font be increased to a good size?
wow

How on earth do you get that usage out of it?! Mine is sometimes down to 50% by the time I get in to work (if I go to the gym in the morning)!

To be fair, once you turn off wifi/3g the battery does last well, but then that kinda defeats the point of a smartphone without push notifications/emails/etc.

It's also got a frustratingly small internal storage capacity, and whilst apps2sd makes it less of an issue, I'm still looking forward to one of the higher spec models coming down in price after xmas so I can upgrade. I just cant justify it now as I only got this back in the summer on the P4U £145 deal posted on here.

It's been a decent upgrade from my old hero, but there is a distinct difference between this and the next grade up in HTC phones. At under £100 tho, its a great price when you think most of the next grade HTC's are still >£300

Eh...from Orange mate - they are available online and instore but if you purchase online make sure you go through either TopCashBack or Quidco for potential cashback.

There's also the T-Mobile Vivacity as well, which is essentially the same as the San Fran II except for the physical case but also having less bloatware (hardly any T-Mobile apps bundled with it) - again they are available online and instore but if you purchase online make sure you go through either TopCashBack or Quidco for potential cashback.

Plus unlocking can be done (covered over at the Modaco Forum) but it's meant to be a wee bit hard.

Nope - all they will need is your PAYG number to confirm your eligible for the upgrade; you could keep your old handset as a backup or sell it on privately or via a phone recycling company or via your local CeX/Cash Converter Store.

It will excel. It doesn't try to cram too much detail into too small a space like 'better' phones try. This benefits responsiveness (easier to draw a screenfull) and the sight impaired.

320*480 on 3.2" (2:3 ratio) = 2.66" * 1.77"

480*800 on <4" (3:5 ratio)= 3.44" * 2.05"

So on a huge 4" phone you're actually observing the same detail in 2.05" as you would in 2.66" on this phone.

Down side is you will have more thumbwork- scrolling, to do.

When I had the OSF, I got mine replaced for free because I was still under warranty. All I had to do was phone Orange and tell them that my screen had stopped working. So they arranged a replacement for the next day! Try it, I bet it works because I got my phone replaced twice!

The only reason I don't have a San Francisco anymore is that I've moved on and bought a Galaxy S
Is this really orange only?
CM 7.1 supports this phone - which for me a make or break feature. At least this way you can expect to get updates for a long long time.

yeah yeah lets add £50 to get a 'better' phone and then find an even better set for £20 more and then realise that a superior one to that one is only £15 more so lets just get that and then realise an even better one is just £10 more...and so on....you get my point?
Lol that is actually true isotonic!.
