HTC Wildfire S white PAYG In store Phones4U £129.99 + £15 top up (three) -unlocked

Found 3rd Jun 2011
I've just come back from my local P4U in Halifax and picked up the latest Wildfire S. They've got it for 129.99 on 3 network but it comes unlocked. Requires £15 top up and comes to a total of £144.99.

Fully unlocked so you can pop in any other sim card.

Please note it is NOT the old Wildfire which you can buy for £99 (so don't vote cold only because you saw a wildfire for 99 punds) but the latest version just released with android 2.3 gingerbread and a much better screen wit a resolution of 320x480 pixels wich doubles the old models 240x320.

EDIT:
ishi123- this is available on the p4u website (white only) for the same price - possible £6.50 quidco too

Nice... what sort of warranty does it come with?
Checked and confirmed with Edinburgh store .... head added

Thanks OP
Nice price. Good find OP.
Is the price of the old version likely to drop now as a result of this?
Good find!

I have a HTC Legend (which have very similar specifications) and I personally wouldn't recommend buying it because it is very slow.

I too, am also using Gingerbread and it is slow. I'm just saying This is my opinion

Theres no point even trying to get original wildfire. It's not even worth £50 IMO.

I think if you could get the old version for £50 it would be a bargain considering the lack of decent payg phones at the price

Where is the San fran available for £70? Thats a bargain
Tempted to call my local store tomorrow and see if they are doing it at this price - had been looking at the older wildfire but for this price I would go for this.

Full of carp some people are. Show me this phone for £70, i suppose it is for orange customers and subject to a top up ?

And I use a Desire S which too uses Gingerbread and it is lightning quick, so maybe your phone has too many items running in the background - tried a reboot?
if only i waited a month or two, i paid same price for the original one. :'(
I went to get the original Wildfire for my nephew, but saw this offer and i think it is well worth the additional 30 quid. The screen is gorgeous compared to the old one and of course it is a bit faster. Had a little play with it and I must say it's a cute little phone. I use the original Desire which i think is quite chunky and to me the wildfire S is much more handy.
Do these upgrades make it a San Fransico killer? I certainly like the idea of not having to void my warranty and risk bricking it to get a nice version of Android unlike the SanFran.
any idea if the black version is on offer?
You can get the orange san fran for £70 if you call up as an existing orange pay as you go customer, no top-up required. I did it back in november and got it for £69.99, don't know about now though.

I had the OSF previously and can tell you that the build quality of the Wildfire S is superior. The camera is much, much better. Also the latest version of HTS sense makes it a bit more pleasant to use.

Echoed. I'd be even keener, if I knew that a colour other than white is on offer.
I was told in my local store that they have only white ones in stock. Donn't know if it's the same in everywhere else.

£67.99 deal expired but you can still get it for £74.99:

OK, I'll stop trolling now but I never said that San Fran was better than Wildire S, I said it was much better than *original wildfire.*
Just to clear some confusion.
You can get this phone on 02 for £10.50 a month for 12 months. that works out at £126 and you get 50 mins - i know that's rubbish, but for a bit on the side and a new phone can't be bad!

You need to be an 02 customer to get this deal though!!
it's £15.50 for 12 months sorry. Really should look these things up before typing
only the white one available and same offer throughout all stores
Does it have any 3 software on the phone plus is it a 3 startup screen ?
Does it come with an SD card and what size it ?

No, there's no software or branding of any network on the phone. They sell fresh handsets from HTC which don't come with any sim card. Depending which network you buy it on, they just take out a sim starter pack from wherever they keep them and activate them and top up for you. It comes with a 2GB memory card (micro SD).
Brilliant phone, great deal, hot from me
Im actually really annoyed!! I went into Phones 4 U yesterday wanting to buy a blackberry curve, then I asked about the HTC Wildfire and he said it was £99 + £10 top up, I then asked about the Wildfire S and he said it was £250 so I said no and got the basic Wildfire!! If I knew this I would have got the S.

Apart from that, the Wildfire is such a good wee phone!! Its a temp phone till the new iPhone comes out!

Go back to your local store and say you were misinformed and want to exchange it for the wildfire s.

Cheers just off to P4U to get one for the wife to replace her original wildfire.

The Desire S has a 1GHz CPU. The one in my HTC Legend and Wildfire S is only 600Mhz.

Yes, I have tried re-booting my phone I don't have many applications open either.
Am thinking of buying this and then wacking this 3 sim deal in the phone:

Sound like a good idea? Or would anybody recommend something of better value?

'300 mins, 3000 texts and 1GB of internet for £10 per month on a 12 month contract' keep in mind that you have 20% VAT on top of that

giffgaff £10 goodybag= 250 min, unlimited text, unlimited internet w/o any contract and better 3G coverage (o2) and if you order a sim from a member you get an extra £5 credit on start

thanks for the reply

I'm sorting this phone out for my mum - so I want it to be absolutely no hassle for her - with giff gaff do you have keep doing monthly top-ups or something? Or will £10 be automatically debited from her account each month?

thanks
Am i gonna find this to be a worthwhile change for my 16 month old, Android 2.1 Hero?
Reviews seem to indicate it's marginally better but not radically better

Also, looks like GiffGaff are going to be charging 20p a day for internet from end of this month:

"This bit's important...

Free to giffgaff:
You need to top-up at least every 3 months to receive free giffgaff to giffgaff calls, if you don't other UK rates will apply as above. The free giffgaff to giffgaff calls last for 60 minutes per call, so you need to hang up and re-dial if you want to keep talking.

Mobile Internet:
Mobile Internet is free until 30 JUN (with a fair use of 100MB a day). After that date it will be charged at 20p a day. If you use less than 1MB/day you'll pay less than 20p and if you go over 20MB you'll be charged extra at 20p/MB.

Free numbers:
We also believe that a free number should be just that, so all 0800 and similar numbers really are free."
