Great pricing, almost tempted to get it for development purposes.

Does the HTC have anything equivalent to the nokia drive app on the lumia?

possible £12.50 cash back from Quidco

Nice deal

I played with one of those, and the build quality was very poor. Slimmer and lighter than the Nokia range, but the build quality is nowhere near, and I think those wouldn't last long

Shame there is no front facing camera for skype. It's bizarre how this is being left off more and more frequently. £30 phones had them 5 years ago.

I likes this

non of the com[pany want to do all in one , camera futures etc

Good price, only plus point, on the negative it's HTC, its Windows and it's 3 network oO

I'm an Apple guy but that phone is pretty nice! I really appreciate HTC and Microsoft creating a cohesive product that has a fresh style. I'd rather have that than the Samsung copy cat iPhone running the hackers playground Android.

I have one of these. Very important to know, you cannot install apps to the SD card, and it only comes with 1.37gb of space free.

great price. could well be tempted. i love the domino colours.

Doesn't seem like a good deal for something with a 4 inch display and 480 x 800 pixels.

Nokia has granted other OEMs access to Nokia Drive so in theory it should come if HTC bothers.

Do they sell the 8X on PAYG as well?

Trust me, you really didn't have to start your post with "I'm an Apple guy..."

Yes, it's £349.99 + top up.

I've gone from Apple to Android (2 years ago) and now to WP8. I have to say WP8 is certainly my favorite but lack of Apps including iPlayer, and tvcatchup etc have been a real let down for me. I'm hanging on hoping that people start developing some apps to make the store as good as the OS.

Obviously never used a modern windows phone so your opinion is invalid.

why is that level of pixel density a problem? i've got really great eyesight and have that resolution on a 3.8" screen on my lumia 710. it works flawlessly and images/video/games/apps are all displayed beautifully. if it genuinely is an issue for you then why not look elsewhere for a handset with a higher resolution, and probably correspondingly lower battery life to power all those pixels. for the rest of us with normal eyes/normal expectations, i'm sure this resolution screen is fine.

i would bet my supper that you've never actually had a go on a windows phone.

£13 topcashback

As much as I like the windows 8 interface on these, why release it with 720p video, 5mp camera, low res screen, and such a low powered CPU.

There's no point in saying "it doesn't need it, its a windows phone," as there are multiple handset with better specs for windows 8.

Even last years phones had 1080p video, 8-12 mpixel cameras, faster CPU and graphics.

And when you consider what google can sell for £239 and make a profit with quad core cpu, 1080p camera, wireless charging, decent 3D acceleration - all the things I'd expect in a newly released smartphone around £200.

And it comes unlocked to any network.

Nice - have some heat

Lumia 620 coming out next month i think, might tempt buyers who want WP8 on a sub £200 nokia device.

I doubt very much google will be making a profit,, they may even be selling at a loss and make their money back on the market,, much like the xbox and ps3 were sold at a loss and profits made up in software.
this is why the s3 which is arguably worse than the nexus is around twice the price. you wont get that sort of spec from another company other than google or amazon for a while I dont think .

Good price,, so voting hot - but will give it a miss...I own both an Android Phone and a Windows Phone...cant live without the Android one, but can live without the Windows one !

You may be right, but surely microsoft and HTC who are astoundingly large companies could beat them at their own game and come up with a £200 device that everyone wants with amazing specs. I'd buy it.

Htc wouldnt have an avenue to make the money back from like google does (play store) MS on the other hand maybe able to do that but its not really winning in the marketplace arena so I doubt its gonna happen,, although maybe a surface phone one day

They don't actually make a profit on the phone in fact they are selling the phone for an actual loss. They are trying to claim money back through software, games and music. Rather like amazon when they released the first generation of kindle fires.

Does look like a have phone but HTC phones have bad microphones and bad video recording.

unquestioned

I have actually, but it seems I'm not allowed an opinion or be accused of being an 'apple fan boy' I have an S3 btw on O2 and very happy with it, son has windows phone which looks nice but has no apps. Oh and three network is just pants, that you cannot deny.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and some peoples stink

Is it locked to 3?
will it take a T-Mobile sim?

MS and Apple would be stupid to try to compete with the Nexus 4 pricing. Google are never going to sell a large quantity as they won't want to lose that much money, and MS and Apple won't want to set the price of their top of the range phone for £239 as it will seriously affect their profitability and their ability to innovate in the future.

What Google is doing is for short term market share gains, nothing else. If they could sell the Nexus for a profit, they would. Fact is the previous three models have been relative failures.

Going by that, this is a great phone for the price. WP8 is an improvement over WP7, but I'm not sure it's enough to be honest to compete with the big boys. "Windows Blue" or whatever it'll be called my be what WP7 should've been from the beginning, which means MS is 4-5 years behind Android and even more behind iOS.

HTC need income they can't afford that. This last year has been a very painful one for them.

It will have HTC Locations, which is the same thing. This was available for WP7, but is not quite ready for WP8 yet apparently. Soon.

That makes zero sense at all, why would a company price it's top of the line phone with all the must have features at £200 when they can sell them all day long at £500?

russodell

Of course it is. I don't think it currently takes T-Mobile SIMs, you'll need to unlock or get SIM only with Three (which is incredibly cheap by the way). Looks like a fantastic deal to me.

You judge a phone on its video recording? This is the problem with consumers. If you want to record video, bring a compact camera and get proper video (you'll never get it with any phone, not even the 920). Don't moan if a phone isn't as good at being a camera as a camera is.

To be honest very average phone considering poor built quality, secondary camera missing and poor screen resolution considering new phone lines
