Nice phone. Like mine a lot. It's no Galaxy S2 but it's good enough for most things.

Battery life on mine is amazing for a smartphone. Easily goes 2-3 days with medium usage.

Use code 2A3UC for £20 off for new customers opening a credit account. Don't worry though. You can pay off the balance with no interest when your first statement arrives. I did when I got mine.

Granted it's not as good a deal as the time there was a £30 off code but pretty good for a smartphone like this. There's not much under £200 that can compare with the specs and performance.

**EDIT** It seems the £30 code might still be working. making this is steal at £72.95

Easy to unlock to all networks for about a fiver by buying the unlock code off eBay. I use mine on 3 now.

I know some people have nothing but bad things to say about Very, but overall my experience with them was very good indeed. No problems experienced, and they even delivered the phone quicker than their estimated delivery date. I was kept updated all the way through the transaction.

Good

Cheap but fully featured
Larger screen and chip than budget rivals
Decent battery life
Attractive design
MicroSD card slot

Bad

Some operator bloatware

Not so long ago you had to shell out a few hundred quid to get a decent smart phone. Google's Android operating system has slowly been driving prices south, and now Chinese mobile maker Huawei has put its foot on the gas to accelerate the trend.

Meet the Huawei Ascend G300 -- yours for £100 on pay as you go (plus £10 top up). It's exclusive to Vodafone for the next three months, after which it opens up to other mobile networks. On a two-year Vodafone contract, you can get the G300 for £15.50 per month.

This budget Android-packing slab is Huawei's second own-brand smart phone in the UK, but does a cheap price inevitably mean compromises in usability, build and features?
Should I buy the Huawei Ascend G300?

If you're on a tight budget but still want a decent smart phone then the G300 won't disappoint. It's not the rock-bottom cheapest smart phone out there, but the tiny premium you pay over some other budget Android devices doesn't go to waste -- it nets you a large 4-inch display and a 1GHz chip.

cheapest deal on this great phone so far - 13 heat? err?

I used the 23EPW code for £30 off this morning and it seemed to be accepted ok, said the £30 would come off my account. I hope it does!

Huwaei are a big player in telecoms kit. Jo public may not have heard of them but for most networks your phone wont do anything via the network without their kit

For those who had bad experience with Very, this will be an alternate way to get the phone under £90

hotukdeals.com/dea…068

Remember Very is a CREDIT company -they do a credit check when opening an account this will reduce your credit worthiness for any subsequent applications

If you have a problem with the phone, tough!!! I think the Tesco deal is better at least their is aftercare

I bought this phone from about two weeks ago. As I am the new customers I got it for £72.95 (e.g £102.95 - £30). I could tell you that it is a great phone high spec phone, It replaced my Xperia X8.

The downside is that it is still locked to Vodafone. SO can not use it with other sim card.

this phone should be easy to unlock for about £8 i think on ebay go search

£5 To Unlock

I unlocked my wife's from a £5 ebay code and it's a piece of p***. Just send them your EMEI number and approx 24 hours later you get the unique 12 digit code. Stick in a non Voddy sim, wait until you get the screen that asks for the unlock code, input it and voila - one unlocked Ascend G300. Superb phone for £100 sim free (got £5 cash back on the purchase from Voddy). Some nutjobs are paying £140 + P&P on ebay for an unlocked G300. Crazy.

Bought an unlock code off ebay on Tuesday.
Just got an email from the seller (specialize) that their supplier is "offline for a few days"!
It's the second time that they've emailed to say that they'll be sending the code in 2 days time.
No codes until Monday now, at the earliest.

Might be best to try one of the other ebay unlockers for a while.

I used unlock fusion, ordered on a Friday and was fearful that i would have to wait until Monday but no fear, the code came through Saturday afternoon. NOT a recommendation btw just my experience.

Quidco have got an exclusive £30 off new accounts and 10% cashback at Isme, which seems to be the same company as Very. They have the Huawei Ascend G300 in stock for £99 and £3.95 delivery or free collection.

Cheers...

I'm thinking of trying one of these as my first Smart Phone. Don't know the brand, but the write-ups are generally good. Worth a punt, as long as i can get a decent deal.

Are they still only on Voda ? (don't like 'em)

Will the price alter when they are available to others ?

Can I get one on PAYG ?

If not, how long would it take me to dump Voda & Pay Monthly ?

Any other advice – welcome.
cheers

PS: Any prices for D Quad yet ?
