it's in their brochure for £100 too

the specs seem to be the same as the xperia play but with much more internal storage

RRP, where's the deal?

how easy to get this unlocked

vodafone have a 3 month exclusive at that price

What's the processor on it I know its a 1ghz is it a 1st gen or second gen snap dragon ? What's the graphics on it ? Unlock about 18-20 euros

Thats got to be the best spec £100 on the market, hope the unlock is cheap for this one.

Nobody seems to have it listed. I would expect it to be the MSM7227A.

quidco£5 topcashback£5.05.

not only available at Morrisons though, will also be available online and in Vodafone retail stores

According to reviews I've come across, this should be this year's Orange San Francisco. The biggest cost to specification ratio on the market. That being the case this deal should be 1000+ degrees. If you've been looking to for the right combination of android, specification and build quality at the lowest possible price, then if the reviews are to be believed, this is it!

Now then, on to the 3 month Vodafone exclusivity issue. Firstly, I assume it will work out of box using a Vodafone Virtual Network sim card such as Asda Mobile or Talk Mobile won't it?

Secondly, any cost effective suggestions for unlocking this particular model?

Secondly, what's the most cost effective route to unlocking the phone altogether?

The comments on theregister review suggest its the same cpu as the san francisco 2 just overclocked to 1ghz. In which case this is basically just an equivalent of the orange monte carlo. Kind of ok but limited enough not to be overexciting. The above reviews do mention the bbc iplayer but talk about the app not using it with flash so it probably does not support adobe flash.

It could be wrong though but with 512mb of ram it look looks like another slightly ho hum compromise.

on some sites it suggests the processor is an armv7 so Flash compatible out of the box and better than the armv6's in the ZTE Skate and Blade 2. Therefore doubt it is an overclocked ZTE Skate as supposedly the ZTE Skate is just the 'turbo' overclocked version of the original ZTE Blade's processor so unlikely this is an overclocked turbo turbo version of that armv6 processor

No the SF2 and OMC use the MSM7227(T) this a arm core based on the v6 instruction set with and adreno 200 graphics processor. The above phone uses its replacement chip the MSM7227A this chip is based on the series one snapdragon core that is a v7 based core and it uses the same adreno 200 graphics processor rather than the higher spec 205. This will have been done to keep power down but also more importantly keep the cost of the silicone to a minimum.

This chip only became available to OEM's early this year. It's basically the original snapdragon moved from the 65nm process down to 45nm. It also has 'enhanced' adreno 200 graphics, which basically means they have clocked it slightly higher.

ZTE's Blade II (not to be confused with the ZTE Cresent AKA OSF II) is due out about now. This has very similar specs but a slightly smaller screen.

Struggling to get excited about this one........appears not to have a front camera either.

Will Adobe flash work on this processor even tho its 1ghz? since its a new chip would like to some benchmarks too how it compares to the old snapdragon chips like what's in the htc Desire

Pretty good spec, 1Ghz CPU, 512MB ram, 4GB rom and 4inch screen, all for 100POUNDS! I better say bye to my ZTE skate, lol.

Trying to breathe life my slightly changing a chip set that I swear is atleast 4 years old

Flash wont work its ARM6, the insides are basically slightly improved Zte Blade/Skate. Acer Liquid Metal is Faster.
This is slower than the oldest Snapdragons

this is not armv6, it's an armv7 handset.

Adobe flash and BBC Iplayer work on this cpu

For all the unlocking questions: it's £15.68 here (change to GBP first or you'll have to change one of the other drop-down boxes as it doesn't register). There may be cheaper places...

can confirm that the phone is in stock in Croydon just picked one up. Initial thoughts are its a cracking deal for £100. I have an old vodafone sim card on PAYG which meant I did not have to buy the top up.

On top of the specs above it also has gorilla glass.

R.E unlocking I just called Vodafone using my girlfriends [b]contract[b] account and they gave me the unlock code over the phone free of charge.

Get one while you can

Thanks very much - I had been wondering about that but the shops helpfully don't have phone numbers (ironically!).

Ooh, I'll have to see how they react to a contract card.

Now that is even more interesting! We've asked for a PAC on the contract card though, so they might notice this. The minimum term has expired.

This looks interesting! ARMv7 has been confirmed, looks as though it should be able to run ICS. Powerful, big screen, decent camera with flash, everything I need from a OSF replacement. And it doesn't say San Francisco on it! We just need unlock now.

£5.05 TCB or £5 quidco on PAYG handsets

Shame you can't order it off Vodafone website every time I select order it says unexpected error.

MoDaCo founder Paul O'Brien has purchased one, and MoDaCo now have a forum up about this device

The contract situation is down to store manager.

However the account I used for the unlock code is actually dead. We left for T-Mobile last month. So should still be fine. Best people to speak to are offshore as they have a lesser understanding of handset release dates etc.

Sorry to hear that - it just worked for me (£100 straight - didn't want any money for top-ups). Text message arrived the instant I confirmed the order (and that was to a non-Vodafone phone). The only trouble with the site is that it wants to set 57 cookies, if you have cookie filtering!

Seems you can avoid this by buying online (presumably also with collect-at-store) - but you have to wait a bit longer before you can get your greasy paws on it!

Haha - only reason I have ever seen to use to off-shore call centres! It's worth a try - even if they charge they might charge less than the £15 or so it costs on the web.

This phone will be getting an ICS update later this year - HOT!
