PS: From Trusted Reviews: "The Huawei Ascend Y300 features a 4-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with 480 x 800p resolutions and a 233ppi image density. Packing a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor...

In the rear, the Huawei Ascend Y300 has a 5-megapixel camera and a VGA snapper up front. (osstis & dewey2 etc say it has a 1950mAh battery: apparently this capacity is for the European market, so disregard reviews where it states 1730mAh...) which incorporates Huawei’s power saving technology to improve the battery life by 30 per cent.

...the smartphone has access to the full range of Google Play apps and games and features Huawei’s Emotion UI."

I thought people might want to know about it, and I selected the official start date when I submitted the deal. It's great there's so many decent budget Androids around these days.

Can't see any reviews as yet, but here's a more in-depth look at the Y300: techradar.com/rev…iew

Would have been great with more RAM.

for £60 this is a great deal with the specs and that its on jellybean. other deals like the Motorola defy huawei vision etc are always let down because they are on stone age gingerbread

Holy Moly that's an aggressive price, nothing comes close below ~£120. Huawei owns the low-end!

It's called buying market share

will this be unlocked to all networks.?

l think it is unlocked, upgrade phone two weeks ago from carphone... is unlocked

My son is currently using the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, but I've promised him an upgrade (well overdue :)). Would anyone think this is the better phone please? Or are they too similar?

I compared them on GSMarena, and they do seem about the same.

it is always the way you wait ages to upgrade your phone, waiting for a cheap proper upgrade, then you see a nice bargain, which whilst only a slight upgrade to your current phone, is still newer and what happens, a couple of days later comes along a phone upgrade at the spec and price you were looking for! Still the defy+ is a nice compact phone, so not too many complaints. Be good to see what the full reviews are like on this phone.

That's a surprisingly small amount of RAM for a Jelly Bean phone. I mean, 512 MB is perfectly reasonable for 2.3, but frankly if you want to run any apps at all you need more for 4.xx. I mean you can boot the phone with 512, it just gets sluggish pretty quickly.

For example, my 4.1.2 device with "nothing" running is using approx. 750 MB of RAM.

The Galaxy Ace 2 is likely a better phone. More RAM. Better pixel density. Slightly smaller screen, but this is certainly not an "upgrade." Just a side-grade or down-grade depending on your preferences.

The RAM in particular is a real disappointment on the Y300. I do like the battery though.

he8, ok thanks

Was still trying to decide whether to go for the U8850 Vision or not. Glad now that I dithered! For an extra £20, you get a phone that design-wise, is two years newer, has the latest version of Android, has a (slightly) larger screen with scratch proof glass and a bigger battery. I wasn't sure about the GPU comparison as there's nothing about the Adreno 203 on Wikipedia but I did find this on XDA...

well adreno 203 is better than 205 and you can compare 205 vs 200 on the internet. you wont find any thing for 203 so am telling you what qualcomn tech support told about 203 having same specs as 205 but a better performance/battery support

Hot from me. Will try and pick one up tomorrow.

This looks like a top phone... gonna get hot in here!

Great price for a well spec'd phone. The only downside is the low ram and only 480p video recording. But hot hot hot!

How does the pay as you go upgrade work?
Do you just have to already have a pay as you go phone on the same network (which network is it?) or is it a trade in scheme?

Looks very good for the money I've been meaning to upgrade my SFII but was going to wait to see if the google nexus 4 dropped in price. For £60 this a steal.

Seems great deal, only downside is the ram but at this price...

You just need a PAYG sim on one of the main networks.

My Galaxy S3 (that cost 5x as much) only has ~230MB free usually. From a Y300 review:

Seems like we'll know the finer details tomorrow. But likely all the main networks though price might vary slightly and will need a payasyougo sim that's been in use for six months since last upgrade and no it's not a trade in scheme.

is it in store only or can i order one online?

better then an orange San Diego?
