bought this yesterday but didn't want to post until I had used it a bit. with the exception of the screen it is better than my 1st gen moto g, which I love. it can accept a 32gb micro sd, a massive plus over the moto g. the one the one I got from EE shop in Birkenhead was not locked to EE, I was told by sales assistant it was so I bought unlock code on wady home from shop off eBay for £1.70. so no bog deal if you get a locked one anyway. Argos are still selling this for 80-90 quid so this is an incredible amount of phone for 35 quid if your on or can switch to orange. not much difference in 4g goodybag prices between EE and Giffgaff now anyway.

EE point of sale literature calls it a G6 but the box states it is a Y550. sorry about spelling mistakes I'm doing this on the train.

owned it. unfortunately I found it slow to do anything. also had a moto g at the same time; which was a lot faster, honest. Would completely go nuts in an area with several WiFi connection! still a good price though!

Poor internal memory leads to the go slow. The reviews are not flattering
Hot Deal. I need a phone but this wouldn't suit me the 4gb internal memory is only suitable for people who aren't going to be installing apps. It doesn't take much to slow it to the point where its unusable. As I said though its a good deal but before anyone buys it they need to understand the limitations and even if you think you're a light user, using 1gb of the internal storage will impact the performance significantly (atleast that's my experience with my last budget phone.

That doesn't mean its not a good deal though. You have to be realistic £35 for a phone that can do a bit of browsing a 4g speeds is quite the deal.

I agree with you 100%. Just avoid d/l apps on it & the phone is a steal!

only if upgrading at cpw. This is available to everyone. I don't want to get into tit for tat so if its not for you jog on.
Got this phone back in November, and adore it. Nothing slow about it for me, and get a Micro SD and transfer apps to that. Simple. Don't have issues with multiple WiFi signals either. Amazing phone for this price.

The huawei is quite large in the hand with a low res screen (480x854), lowish-end quad core - good for low use mobile web browsing. Camera is OK, certainly not brilliant. Get a 32GB card - if buying in ee there is a 40mb/s card for about £15 - else buy for about £10 online, plug it in, switch apps install mode to sd and then install away - don't forget to move apps to sd card if they are capable. Might have difficulties rooting the phone for the likes of LinkSD/Titanium Backup, but I've not investigated far yet.

moto e is 5 quid more, with a higher res screen (qHD 560x980), similar size phone, lowish speed dual-core. If anything like the branch I bought my 550 in the moto e is right next to it on the display.

Most shops should have demo models.

edit: forgot that this also is in the upgrade path - I think I ended up getting a PAYG upgrade to the £1pack for £28+20 topup.

in which way is "£35 + £20 top up" misleading???
The Y550 looks to be on KitKat. The G6 on JellyBean. I believe but am hopeful to be proven wrong that you cannot move apps to the sd card if on KitKat? If so, then 4gb isn't a massive amount of storage for all your apps.

    Maybe someone can confirm?

Facebook messenger and Firefox have both gone onto SD no problem. it runs on 4.4 KitKat.

Nothing to do with tit for tat.

The deal posted was for this phone, direct from EE. And many got it for £25.99 wothout having to top up. . I'm not stupid, I know exactly how CPW Upgrade deals work - it had nothing to do with them. I understand you are protective about your thread but you can still buy this phone from EE from £25.99.
