4G routers are quite in demand at the moment and this seems like a good price for a brand new one by market leaders Huawei. It is on the basic side but will be adequate for most I suspect.

Had to use it in 3G mode.
Bargain, whack a couple of LTE SMC aerials on the back of it (internal or external!) and double your speeds!

It's not subjective, it is factual.
I too got around those speeds constantly, but then noticed the wifi kept dropping off to all devices. Got straight onto tech who said there is a firmware issue with the router and the only fix is to use 3G mode for now.

Curious, did you try the sim in a 4g phone? how is the signal? 3 isn't the best afaik but that is subjective to your area and amount of users on 3 network in the area -- terrible here for example even though its meant to be "great"

Btw you can pick up a used - like new Huawei b900 (AI Cube) on eBay for about same price from high rated sellers like amobiles1. I picked up a used/boxed/manufacture warranty b525-23a for £75 on there as well.

I didn't try it in a different device as the sim never lost a signal (as far as I could tell)
We have 4x Three sims in our phones so I knew the signal was decent before signing up for it. At first all was well, then the wifi just randomly started dropping off, very annoying when watching something.
I have since replaced the router as after getting 2x free months Broadband and £15 credit on my phone for complaining it was kind of like a free router.

Just noticed the one from Three I got is different from OP though, but it still puts me off Huawei routers now.

I am having the exact same problems with my Huawei B525 router! Fantastic speeds but just not consistent. I will try using 3G and see how it goes. Thanks for the info Salty.

Good luck, our 3G speeds still topped our wired fibre speeds (just) but as I was paying for 4G I wanted 4G

Yeah I get you, frustrating. I'm just pretty bummed as I've spent a lot of money on the router and an external antenna (Poynting 4g-xpol-a0001). And a 24 month contract with Three. So at this point I'll just be happy if the 3G works fine. Otherwise a lot of money will be down the drain.

This is what I replaced it with, paid £5 less though.
Could always ebay your router and antenna? (only had the replacement a few days but early signs are good, far better WiFi signal through the house)
The Huawei Three 4G router provided a considerably poorer signal than an old Moto G4 running a Three mobile hotspot in the same spot in the house, in a strong signal area..... Just my experience

Sure... there are loads to choose from a tenner up to £300 odd, depending on what you use it for, but these are cheap and work!
38425098-92ids.jpg
amazon.co.uk/SMA…Z55

Or a couple of magnetic ones, if you do not have the window so close...
amazon.co.uk/SMA…h=1

Basically, anything outside or by a window, pointed as your closest mast, from whatever company you are with, will get the best speeds, all it is, is 2x SMA connectors, 2 bits of high gain, low loss cable and the aerial at the end
These work well with any of the B series CPE routers, like the 310 in this deal, got a few setup for various people, that used to have dire signal and speed.. bit more money, but increase in speed, ping and stability, is a bit like having 5G on 3G / LTE!!!

amazon.co.uk/Ant…V54

Increases for anyone remotely interested

Huawei is the market leader in designing and manufacturing mobile radio communications, accounting for around one quarter of global radio communications infrastructure (30% in Europe). I would suggest that was nothing more than your experience.

A Huawei bot for understanding how antennas and radio communications actually work? Air molecules either vibrate or they don't. A robust router with full size, non limited antenna (designed by the world's largest radio communications manufacturer, who might know a thing or two about radio technologies....) will not be beaten by a mobile, like for like.

Oh and would you look at that. Turns out the the B311 runs at LTE Cat 4 and the Moto G4 runs a Snapdragon X8 LTE Modem at LTE Cat 6. Twice the speed! So yes, as I suspected, this is down to users not having the slightest inkling of how their technology works. Nothing to do with build.

Implying that Huawei don't know how to build a device to receive radio communications is about as stupid as saying Intel don't really understand the fabrication of semiconductors. Just plain ridiculous.

Dude chill. No one is saying they don't know how to build the routers. It's just a few of us on here have all had similar issues. Trust me I wish my router wasn't having these issues!
I have a Cat 3 Netgear Aircard bought in 2014 for periodic use but if I was looking for a dedicated router, I would be going for at least a Cat 6 router.

For those that don’t know, LTE Cat 4 can do up to 150mbps and LTE Cat 6 can do up to 300mbps - both have an upload speed of up to 50mbps.

There are higher categories but the prices for routers goes up significantly.

I have no idea, but it cured the issue. The issue will be fixed in a firmware update I am told, when that would be I was not told.

Can confirm now that I have switched to 3G my WiFi is working fine. Thanks again Salty, saved me a lot of money. I was so close to selling it all and going back to normal broadband. I'm still getting great speeds on 3G so I'm happy.

Fire a complaint in to Three, you're paying for 4G.
I got two free months, £15 phone credit and recurring £3 off PM on broadband contract.
Now down to £69.99!
