Looks and feature wise, this is very similar to a Samsung gear Fit 2, but at a much cheaper price. Includes GPS, which is handy for tracking your runs etc.

That's it? For £25 extra? Hmm..

pretty much, yeah. i've had both of them, and there's no massive difference between the two beyond the gps. this one's slightly more comfortable, i'd say, but unless you need the onboard gps i wouldn't bother with this over the mi band 2.

i'd probably look at the current mgcool band over both if i were to buy right now, though.

Which mgcool band is that? There seem to be a fair few going at the same time... Thanks!

I've gone for this. Only want it for running so built in GPS seems what I need...unless I've misunderstood something.

I don't have either but I think of I was getting one for running I would spend £5/10 more and get the xiaomi amazfit. It's compatible with strava and can play music via Bluetooth.

Software is make or break for these devices. The S908 GPS Smartband is a cheaper alternative but can't be recommended because of the shoddy app. The Elephone ELE MGCOOL Band 2 (mentioned in earlier post) doesn't have onboard GPS though. Regular price is £10 at Gearbest. gearbest.com/sma…tml

Prob be cheaper still if some regular here can come up with a code.

Looks like theres a MGCOOL Band 3 out but that doesn't have GPS either.

What's the deal re: shipping & customs with ordering from a place like geekbuying?
Do you just place an order & cross your fingers, or is there more to it than that?

Judging by the reviews here, looks like they are best avoided at all cots, customs or no customs. One guy did say he was charged for customs duties: hotukdeals.com/dis…010

Wow those reviews are scary. I would avoid this company.

Aren't they around the £100 region? Maybe I'm looking at the wrong model?

it was the new band 3 i was on about:

it's only £11.45 at the moment, too.

How does is play music? Can you have apps such as Spotify? Does it require a phone? Or does it simply use an internal SD.

I'd be tempted if that phone could break my phone away from a run

Well my order arrived, customs free & well packaged. Thanks OP!

Coming back to say thanks to OP, mine arrived two days ago and it is really good! I wasn't sure if I actually wanted it but I love it. It's decent for running (only shows time and distance during the run so not for hardcore runners), it's good for the sleep monitoring, I like the step count and that I can get notifications just for specific apps pushed to it (so I don't get work email). I like that it's waterproof for in the shower too.

Heartrate seems accurate enough for me, I can see when it's high Vs low and gives some guide on calories.

Cheers guys. I ordered it 5 days ago and it still hasn't been shipped. I'm thinking of cancelling and getting it through Tesco for £49.99
I paid for the express shipping as well
