I'm off to France in a few days and staying in a Gite with no WiFi so was looking for a wifi hotspot to use while over there. Three seem to be one of the only companies who don't charge extra for Euro data on PAYG and I found this.

Pay As You Go + 3.

•Inclusive data allowance.
•3GB of data.
•Valid for 3 months.

£44.99

Seems like a really good deal at the normal price of £44.99 but when you go through to checkout, it shows £34.99 with Free next day delivery.

Worked out a lot cheaper than buying a dongle, unlocking it and then putting a French PAYG sim in.

The Huawei E5573 (allows 10 concurrent connections/users) is also available on the same package for £44.99 instead of £69.99

Yes, if you want 4G you need the E5573

3 do charge extra for Euro data on PAYG. 3.9p mb vs 1p mb. Though allowances can be used for no extra charge.

Pakistan tariff charges are as below:

I need something compact like this which can take external antennas, rather than a larger router with 3&4G

That was my intended route, just use a Data only sim and load it when I'm travelling and need to use it so using only included data otherwise I can let it lapse.

3G wasn't an issue for me as there isn't much 4G in Normandy anyway.

If you're going to rural France make sure you have a signal-many places don't!

I use this. £21.99 for 12GB lasts 12 months.

All three devices are unlocked, so you can use a different carrier data only sim when the allowance runs out

Do check it will work abroad with a brand new account, when I was going away a few months ago I read some terms and conditions for new customers. I believe you have to have been with Three for several months before use aboard is allowed. Worth double checking.

Probably already unlocked as all phones from Three come unlocked

Is the data active immediately or can I buy and activate in a few months time when I want it?

Read somewhere that when using abroad only 3g is active, anyone know if that's true?

If so, if all you're interested in is the feel at home option then no point paying £10 more for the 4g version.

You can plug an antenna into the Huawei E5573.

It has two TS9 connectors. I have the mifi but haven't used it with an antenna yet, I'm considering getting this one: amazon.co.uk/Ant…h=1

all three mobiles and dongles and mifii are unlocked already when you buy them. so you can put any sim in it.

The 4G version can handle more connnections/users and will allow you to connect an external antenna. Maybe worth it to some people even if the availability of 4G when abroad is scarce.

I'm in Germany and the "feel at home" data is worse than useless for anything but slow browsing and email. definitely no streaming or downloading.

I got this with more data and a tablet for £10 per month from three

This is £35 one-off costs, very different to a contract deal. Apples and Oranges

be very careful with this. three do not allow tethering abroad and I don't know if that is how the hotspots work. very nearly got stung by this in the summer

This is mobile broadband, nothing to do with tethering.
