Huawei E589 4g router on 30day rolling contract - £19.99 + 1 month at £17 @ Currys PC World

Found 11th Aug 2013
Reserved for collection, it rung up as £19.99 but had to choose from 1 of the 30 day rolling contracts with EE.

I've heard they can be unlocked for £3 so this is bargain especially considering they are easily £140 on amazon.

doesnt look like a network locked variation too...haven't actually checked but once charged will do.

update: it was sim locked but 99pence and literally 1min later thanks to eBay PayPal , I have an unlocked 4g router which I'm planning on getting the three £17 unlimited data with tethering 30day contract , hopefully they will have 4g soon too.

I'm getting 30mb download and 10mb upload

ebay unlock:

30day cancelled, finishes Sep 11

Any suggestions for a home broadband with unlimited data on a mifi?

So you might have been lucky and got a glitch as the web price is still £50.

How do you get this price. I can only see 49.99

reserve and collect. It rings up as £19.99 instore.

I think the £49.99 includes 1 month of contract so its not far off?

you mean it is in store as £19?

what contract did you get for £17/month - how much data?

It was 3or5gb,
I'm probably going to switch to threes £17 unlimited with tethering rolling 30day contract soon though.

also, I'm not sure if EE do it but Tmobile is technically unlimited internet even if your contract only states 250gb, they just turn off YouTube which can be accessed through VPN

This is quite possible. I went to a EE store to get a Huawei 5332. Got the device for £10 and 2 GB of data for £10 on Orange on a 30 day rolling contract. Cancelled it the very first day. So I got MiFi with data for a month all for £20

Do you have a link for the Three deal?

It's a 3G deal and I am happy with the choice (add 99p to unlock off ebay). IMHO 4G is over rated, expensive at the moment and I got fibre broadband at home and free WiFi in most of the places I go to.

I can confirm these are definitely £19.99 instore (White Rose, Leeds) on a 30 day rolling contract, or that what it was meant to be but when I signed up it defaulted to a 18 month contract. This was then subsequently cancelled as the manager called EE but I now need to wait seven days to reconnect.

So do you just carry this around like a portable router?

You are getting 30mb download and 10mb upload, but that's on the EE sim, once you change to Three you will not be getting those speeds anymore, unless of course Three has rolled out their 4G , but I heard that even though they will be giving it free to their customers, it is most likely going to be limited , rather than unlimited data.

Just went to my local and it came up to £50 staff had no idea of this deal said may be certain stores. fyi went staples corner London. Oh well could do with this when I go on holiday.

Ring them up and ask for retentions department. I just told them I am leaving the country for 6 months in a months time and they cancelled mine without any further questions.

The link goes to the huawei e5776 but the title says e589. However the e5776 is newer and better anyways

All mobile broadband plans on 3 have monthly data caps. The unlimited tethering is on the One Plan, which is strictly for phones not mifis such as this.

The Three One Plan thread mentioned that if you use it with a dongle or mifi device, your sim card gets blocked and you have to apply for another one (according to the comments).

I was hoping to get this device and do the same but I can't do it unfortunately, will have to stick with tethering from my phone instead.

I would exercise this deal with caution. I wasted pretty much 3 whole days chasing around people and getting answers when I got the previous 4G myfi / EE / Currys PC World deal. The previous deal was very similar on the E5776.

It ended up being a lot more expensive than me due to things messing up. Also, my router has froze once and I've only barely had it a week.

As pointed out, title needs to be changed. An E589 Looks like this:

This seems to be the E5776.

You did not get data for a month, 2GB will be enough for about a day probably:)

Escuse me, but you are making a lot of assumptions but instead of saying something like "in my (uninformed) opinion", you state things as facts.
I have the Huawei E5776 (also £19.99) and I get better speeds on Three than on EE (4G). Of course, it will all depend on the area, but that is exactly why you should not be so sure.
Three is also not 3G, is more like 3.5G.

Firstly, I never said that Three will be slower than EE in every case, I said Three Will be slower than EE 4G if you are getting 30MB download on the 4G EE now. Three Use HSPA+ Or in some areas DC-HSDPA , and you cannot get 30MB with that.

Have a look at this, three.co.uk/Dis…ing , my opinion seems more informed than yours now ? eh?

Just because your attitude, I would like to be a grammar Nazi, and teach you that it is spelt "Excuse" and not Escuse me.
You should maybe make use of HUKD's Spell check.

i want the e5776 as it looks beautiful. don't want to look like a fool tho infront of those guys!

E576 is better, higher wifi transfer rate - not that it makes much difference and more importantly it supports the 4g which will come out on other carriers other than EE, i believe the e589 is like the iphone 5 in that it will be 4g strictly for EE as that was the early adoption of the technology in the uk.

Also in my brief time with the e589 speedtests at identical positions both EE showed the e5776 to be 1 meg or 2 faster, actual real world browsing might not be noticeable.

Are we talking Mbit or MByte? He said 30mb, which probably means 30Mb = 3.75MB/s. If it's DC-HSDPA then it's more than possible that he's managed to hit those speeds in an area with decent coverage.

Not all of us were blessed to be born as a native english speaker, but putting that aside...
30MB? Is actually 30 Mbps, not 30MB. Very informed indeed.
Anyway, my point is that 3 might as well be faster then EE lots of times.
I get better signal on 3 around town compared to EE, although EE shows 4G sometimes.
H+ speeds from 3 should be more then enough (21.1 Mbps).

To Schoog,

Getting 3.75MB/s on 4G is a rip off you can get that with a 3G Sim.

To MaximusRo

English is my 3rd language, and no I was not born a native English speaker.

and yes 3 can be faster than EE's 4G, but again it will not give you 30 MB/s , which I was referring to.

Anyways, I did not post on here to sound smart or say that this deal was not a good deal, I was just saying it in case OP did not know that he will not be able to match 30 MB/s with a Three Sim (at this moment of time that is)

Actually, if you look at this, 3 will be able to offer 30mbps: en.wikipedia.org/wik…ess
Your own link also shows how little difference in speed will be between 4G and current 3 tech.

If you are going to criticise a member's grammar, at least have the decency to ensure that your post doesn't contain erroneous capital letters and spaces. It may also be a good idea to not miss out random words such as 'of'.

Yuo have to stop at some point writing technical data that you do not understand.
I already mentioned you made a mistake with that 30MB/s, yet you ignore that and keep using that figures.
Might confuse a lot of people.
If you mean 30Mbps, he will be able to match it with a Three SIM in theory, according to the link YOU provided and the link I provided.

I made use of capital letters in some words to put extra attention to the word, I did not want to put the whole word in capital as it looked a bit too aggressive. But cool story bro.

Oh and by the way, I did not criticise his grammar, there is a difference between grammar and spelling.

MaximusRo, call it what you want, I am still right in that he cannot achieve the 30 Mbit/s and not M bytes with a Three sim.

By the way next time you provide links, make sure it is from a source that cannot be edited by whoever feels like doing so.
