Oh, okay if that's the case, I have had mine since release, so over a year, it still lasts as long as it did when I got it.

I got mine free with my phone and expected to sell it, but I still wear it everyday! It's not a true smart watch in that you can't install apps, but it does everything it needs to well.I really like mine. The battery life is the key, you don't have to worry about it not being fully charged.

Any thoughts on how long this watch is likely to last? Just wondering about the longevity of the battery, given how long (short) batteries tend to last in mobile phones.
I have had my Seiko divers watch for nearly 40 years, and put a new battery in it every 5 years or so. I'm not sure I want a watch as disposable as my mobile.
They claim 2 week but I'd go for about 5 days tbh. Good price! Tempted

The evidence suggests there's not that much difference between different batteries when it comes to how many charge cycles they can go through before deteriorating. So I would expect capacity reduced to about 80% of new after 300 full charge/discharge cycles and 60% of new (+/- unpredictable discharge / switching off) after 500 cycles. And total death of battery possible by 1000 cycles.

Therefore, it depends how you use it, and how often you charge it (if you only charge it once a month, it might last nearly as long as your Seiko! But it will only tell the time and not much else, just like your Seiko!). Also, if you only discharged it to 20% not 0 and charged up to 80% not 100% you might easily double or treble it's lifespan.

Expect 2 years before the battery starts to fade. Looking on YouTube I think it's not that difficult to obtain and fit a replacement rechargable battery. It certainly won't last like a conventional quartz watch, the fitness features are what sets it apart.

GT 2 uses LiteOS (Huawei's proprietary OS for wearables). Watch 2 uses Wear OS by Google.

GT 2 has way better battery life but app support is better on Wear OS. Also not sure if GT supports mobile payments but Watch 2 supports Google Pay.
I'd like one of these but I know the GT2 is sometimes reduced. What's the difference between the two, I'm not looking for a massively over spec watch.

Fair enough I have a Watch 2 myself. Wear OS is good. Apart from the Huawei bloatware apps it's pretty much stock.

i can get a watch 2 4g for £99.99 second hand boxed, does that sound like a decent , all im really after is a watch to unlock my door, via an app, poss use as a stand alone from my phone, start using this google pay, nothing massively over complex, cheers.EDIT, there are cheaper on ebay, but im not sure if there all 4g or not.

Watch 2 can be a bit slow doing more intensive tasks. £99 for second hand at this stage seems a bit much but it is for 4G version and boxed so not ridiculously high.

If your door manufacturer supports Wear OS that's worth it, but I still find using my phone easier for stuff like that. Same with Google Pay to be honest as on Wear OS you have to open Google Pay to use it (I customised hardware button to open it).

Main reason I used Wear OS was to check my emails or browse internet when I was not supposed to be, and for that it's great, but for the average user who has the choice between using a phone and the watch I'd use the phone.
I've got one and i'll give some of my thoughts

Pros:
Battery life is incredible. I get 10 days roughly and thats with HR on all the time
Looks stylish, easy to change straps
Tracks steps and Heart Rate well

Cons:
Notifications are poor, they don't wrap the text on the notifications. For exam
ple it will do thin
gs like this
Watch faces are limited, and incredibly difficult to get more
The Health app is fiddly. It hated going on my Pixel 3, in the end i had to get it setup on my work Samsung just to get the update done, reset it, then pair with my Pixel
Doesn't show app icons on the notifications for some things, so most things look like a text (thats the default)

I paid £100 for it at the time and thought was worth it, simply for the battery life and health tracking, but for more fucntionality i'd go back to a Samsung in a heartbeat and deal with charging it more often
Since I bought this watch (26th January) after full charge I haven't charged it once since

And still at 61%

I disabled "Continuous Heart Rate Monitoring" as for me this is not needed and you can tell this will drain battery quicker

Very impressed with it
Is there much of a difference between this and the GT Active?

£107 here:

Nice watch and good battery life (always expect half of what the manufacturer says)
No good for me as caused skin burn/irritation.
Great price. Heat.

It depends on how many functions you use...
If you are heavy user like myself 5-6 days seems about right...

I've had mine since the Mate 20 Pro released, well over a year now. The battery still lasts 2 weeks as it did from the start. People argue about whether or not its a smart watch.
Look, it has a good screen, shows me my messages and notifications, tells me when there's a call, has alarms, timers, heart rate, sleep analysis, pedometer plus more. I doubt need to pick up my phone half as much.
It's tough as well. Been through a year and some of DIY abuse and there's not a mark on it.

I use this watch. Lasts a week easily and that's with workouts and constant HR monitoring

The battery probably will outlast it's updates and it will most likely stop working with newer phones etc. I purchased a smart watch and I didn't know this when I tried too connect it too.ky phone it won't work as it only suppers upto about Android 5.0 I'm guessing I have left it for about 12 months and have tried with a older phone and seems they have stopped the software it's not even available for older phones too connect with it so it's basically useless won't even show the time I could have used it as a normal watch but that doesn't work either. So Maybe the battery isn't the main thing you should be worried about if you want keep it for decades.
